Those are forward slashes not back slashes as he says. The commands typed on over the video are correct he just said them wrong.

I would say try reformatting your sd card from your computer and then trying again.

That's what I did when I got a weird error once....

If you don't have the same screen that means you have a different recovery which I think would be different for you...

Get Cyanogen Recovery 1.4

i did a Format Fat32+Ext2+LinuxSwap and apps2sd.i'm not really sure or remember correctly when i first did the root. following all the directions on the The UNlockr website...would you recomment the newest modoco rom vs DDR latest 1.5.5??thnks again

MoDaCo 1.5.1 is DEFINITELY better.

The good news is Drizzy, and JAC and just about every developer have finally caught on that their public wants MoDaCo speed on their ROM's and now everyone is making MoDaCo versions...

Would one who has the EXt3 for the first time need to wipe even if they're only on one of the cupcake roms? I plan on updating to a hero rom later this week. But still trying to find out what is needed. searching for answers on XDA is a bit hard when your not sure what to really look for.

Ya. Its good to wipe each and every time. If you don't, you may get random force closes even on a standard cupcake ROM... Don't be lazy. =p

would this procedure work if i rooted my phone using the one click root method by the unlockr..when i switch hero roms i just erase zip file from sd and upload another one. then wipe data. then load update.zip. then reboot.

could i continue to load roms the way i have been doing but do the wipe ext3 to eliminate re loading screens. hope this makes sense

Hmmmm... make sure your phone isn't plugged into anything...

And MAKE SURE you're typing the commands right... I'd say 99% of people who have problems were missing a space or slash. LOL

Ya. Wipe again and then apply .zip

No biggie. =)

If you get trouble or bootloops though just take out the battery and do these quick steps again.

If you get an error when you wipe ext3 after you already wiped ext3 before, its just because its wiped clean and there are no files there. =p

You still have to do this EVERY TIME you flash a Hero ROM. =)

If you've wiped ext3 and haven't flashed another ROM or even the same ROM you don't have to do it again.

Only if you've flashed the ROM you have to do wipe ext3 again. =p

That sucks cuz class 2 is the slowest SD you can get.. =(

And your partition should be 64 or 96MB..

That's why your MoDaCo is getting slow and the load screens... =(

Don't use apps2sd. It has auto apps2sd but I have to figure out how to enable it...

To get rid of those pesky loading screens, try increasing your linux swap to 64MB or 96

=)

Very worth it if you flash MoDaCo 1.5.1 =)

And ya, you're gonna need to get Cyanogen's recovery 1.4 for a lot of this stuff to work.

When you have Cyanogen's recover 1.4 it will also let you upgrade your ext2 to ext3

Once you get Cyanogen recovery 1.4, watch my video on how to partition your sd AND upgrade to ext3 =)

Not worth it to flash to Hero unless you repartition your card and make a 64 or 96MB swap.

JF's recovery wont let you partition so you need to have Cyanogen 1.4
