I love when I can start playing Chapter 5, it feels so refreshing when you finally control the Hero himself and he turns out to rule at everything. ^_^
You go out there and fight monsters like a good old warrior, but then he actually starts gaining stuff like Heal and Blaze, effectively making him a well-rounded one-man army. =D
I mean sure, Ragnar and Alena are nice and all, but Hero just feels a bit more interesting since he can do a little bit of everything.
@HardcoreHamster33 ......And casting spells and exploring new grounds and camping all together around the fire at night, munching monster meat while looking at an old map, deciding tomorrow's destination *___*
the playstation version is the best. best sound, best graphics, best everything. u can even chat with your other party members, unlike the nes or even ds versions :P
Yea It makes me reminds me of my childhood I always playing this adventure on my gb. Oh I missed this. I played this since I was 9 years old, and my daddy thought this game inappropriate for me because imma girl ;) but it doesn't matter, I'm 16 yrs old now ;)
A single young man, suddenly thrust into his destiny, wanders in the hills near the remains of the home village that had raised him. His previous eighteen years of peaceful life was shattered in a single night.
Wow i love this overworld theme. Is it me or do all Dragon Quest games have an awesome overworld? I definately prefer this over final fantasy themes no offense to FF i love FF games but there themes kinda get idk i guess boring
@SilverFoxSlasher: All of the overworld themes except Alena's are, to me, really good from DQIV. It was fairly novel at the time, each chapter having it's own overworld theme, and some having their own battle themes (like Mina/Maya's chapter and Gypsy's Dance battle theme).
This reminds me of 2 years ago when I was playing this on the DS. It was right after having an existential experience where I believed that life was a dream... And while playing this and hearing this song, I thought, "then what is this?" Just an endless adventure...
This song makes me feel as if everyone in my family was destroyed, and that I alone, have to venture trough rigid deserts, rought terrains, scaily mountains, just to find the cause of my family's death.
And bust into everybody's house uninvited and take what you want from their drawers, etc. Gotta love RPG logic.
Anywho. I remember first hearing this song back on Dragon Warrior Monster for Gameboy Color when I was a kid. And everytime I hear this song, it always brings me back to a time when things were much simpler and I didn't have a care in the world. Good times.
After you beat the game and start Chapter 6, you can switch characters by organizing a party of one using "line up". That way, on chapter 6, you can hear EVERYONE'S theme if you want to.
Same with Nadiria. And it's after beating marquis since the point of the song is that you've got all characters (except Psaro) and you get the last character after beating leon.
I Love this song but when ever i hear the symphonic version it's Like Koichi Sugiyama would say that his homeland is distorted and he has to protect his loved ones

"For some reason, this music makes me want to have my friends scattered around the world, and then I have to go find them. I'm such a geek."
I don't think that's so bad. :) It's like having all sorts of friends all around the world. ^^ It would be pretty neat.

Rather on NES or DS, this is the best DW/DQ music of all time!

Nice, but not quite as good as the Symphonic Suite version.

@pvtread Uh... you asked "Who came up with the game", not "what is the title of this song". Replied with the creator of the game, Yuji Horii.

Set the line-up as only the Hero.
Also, I wish the guy who posts these would post Dq V DS's overworld music, I loved that one just as much as this one if not moreso.
