I discovered Manowar in about '88-'89. I was about 7-8 and I loved it then. There are several want-to-be bands out there who try and steal their sound. I agree about Metallica selling out. Not because of the Napster thing, but they threw their true fans under the bus. I hate that it is hard at times to find Manowar's albums in most stores, bless the net is all I can say. I blew a friend's car stereo with the Dawn of Battle song. He was one who had the massive woofers and BOOM. He lost the bet.

A big part of it has to do with Metallica "selling out." A lot of it is teasing, with the references to other bands. But the point of false metal is true, when the music is created only for record sales.

No. I don't know Metallica's views and reasoning for drastically changing their music. Many people were pissed off, because they strayed so far from their true metal roots. I mean many people view them as one of the pioneers of Thrash metal.

It just seems like their new stuff isn't from the heart, isn't for the metal community, it's more or less mainstream music only to sell records. i mean now everyone one and their mother loves Metallica these days whether you're into rap, country etc etc
