  • No 'II-V-I's' here!

    hehehehehehehehehehe

  • Who said an orgasm can't last for 9 minutes and 57 seconds?

  • love it!

  • That was insane!!

  • Yeah, I know their "cool" creds, but the music is infantile.

  • @pauldavidclub

    I see you're a Hendrix fan

  • ..noooo supr! heavy metal przy tym detal

  • anyone know what the drumming is saying at the end?

  • @thrashmetalkills "Deformed, unfinished, sent before my time into this breathing world, scarce half made up, and that so lamely and unfashionable that dogs bark at me as I halt by them", or rather bits and pieces of that.

  • This is incredible. Sonny Sharrock is my favorite guitarist of all time

  • peter brotzmann is the man

  • i'm not sure what to think of this.

  • They should have named this song destination way , way, way, way, way, way, way out!!!!

  • oh yeah this my kinda party

  • Music speaks louder than words

  • Love it! Great group!

  • Bill Laswell is playing guitar on this tune, not the bass

  • @Pedroleum100 It's a Fender Bass VI. Sort of a short scale 6 string bass

  • @voiceofthesoul Oh, thanks for the note.

  • sonnys part is fucking unreal.has anyone ever seen him and jimmy in the same place at the same time???

  • Check out my video response: Annette Peacock - 'I'm The One'

  • What's the matter? This is better than anything or anybody out today. These guys play their own instruments and they don't depend on Protools or any digital gimmicks to make their music!!!

  • What do you think it would be like if these guys performed with Iggy Pop?

  • @sydbarrett5 It would be great idea. Iggy Pop has already performed free jazz.in the Stooges "Funhouse" album. It was one of my favorite tracks in that album before I got into free jazz. Now I know why.

  • If you don't like it y watch it?

  • Aptly titled... twisted beauty for twisted minds to ponder.

  • One of my favorite groups of all time!

  • crazzzyyyeahhhh!!

  • @radiomix It's a lot of things, but bullshit it ain't.

  • @payaeger76 with all my respect, this is totally gay. I hate myself for loving this dirty music :@

  • @jezmundberserker Ya it is noise, noise music. That's a type of music.

  • love the drummers nervous breakdown at the end

  • i also find it kind of funny how it looks like the drummer is crying throughout the whole thing

  • this was sick, what was the song that had apparently ended at the beginning of the video?

  • um.... what did i just see ?

  • Hahahaha is he quoting King Richard at the end/qm/

  • is there a studio version for the tune w/ sharrock's solo? or is this just pure improv?

  • @anarchydance

All Last Exit concerts were improvised. There is one studio album, but that had little to do with what they played live

  • Now we're talking - logged on to this expecting some band playing a song and then saying - Sting used to be in our band you know - like some sort of saddo - but this is great.

  • They needed a bassist better than Laswell. Dude's a producer. And the video does not match the playing.

  • the music sounds great, minus the terrible saxx

  • W-T-F-?!

  • the best aourdou reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • William Shakespeare's, Richard III, "Winter of My Discontent" 8:17

  • @cymbata

Well ... It can do that to you I suppose ...

  • Brötz is the greatest!

  • This is the shit

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

  • @smilesgaveus

? i'd bet you a million dollars they played their instruments better than you.

  • Godamn, that solo... Gets me every time, that's raw emotion coming out of an instrument, that is.

Although, I don't like the bit after about 5:07, when he tries to step it up again, it sort of cheapens it. Idk, I can't explain it.

  • Great sounding music!!

  • highway to high

  • Amazing vid. Correct spelling of sax player's name is Peter Brötzmann.

  • I bet you're trying to fuck op sting's last exit.

  • Never mind slap bass when you can spank guitar... :P

  • Musical napalm!

  • This is like early sonic youth in jazz suits :D

  • good god...this is pretty damned amazing.

  • The sax player is actually Peter Brötzmann, father of Caspar Brötzmann who recorded Zulutime with Page Hamilton of Helmet.

  • I watch this video once a week. Goosebumps every time.

  • what's Bill Laswell doing up there? I hate to say it but he seems severely outclassed.

  • If I get a song stuck in my head and I want it out, this is my new cure

  • hey, that's 6-string fender bass/baritone guitar Bill Laswell is playing ! the beatles had one of those for studio use, in case someone except mcCartney wanted to play

the bass part of a song...

  • It's not a baritone though, it is just a bass with an added high B and E string. At least in the intended tuning.

  • OOOhh snap. I have their CD. Could you tell me anything else about this band?

  • Sonny Sharock makes Hendrix look like a little child!

  • this is the best punk play ever:):)

  • What the FUCK is this

  • Its a bunch of guys doing Bambi Monster covers

  • @Cheepn1s Hahahahaha! :D

  • is that a fender VI?

  • @rillloudmother

yes it is. see my other comment about it.

  • I knew Brotzmann was a beast but holy mother of god listen to that guitar!!!

  • i saw them in the mid eightys in den haag and in moers it was one of the amzings acts i have ever seen

  • sharrock was amazing at guitar.. in fact I'm gonna buy a few of his albums.

  • :3 I own that bass!

    It makes me happy!

  • Sonny Sharrock was a great Guitarist. RIP we always miss you.

    -Andrés

Pd.: 'II V I' is not here.

  • Last Exit shreds

  • Because I'm curious if there are any clothes left on the Emperor.

  • to each his own man, you just don't get it.

  • Exactly.

  • Well JT isn't marketed as being a guitarist to begin with, right? More like a singer/songwriter. At least that was my impression.

  • To me, the guys you listed there aren't too similar. I really love most of JT's music though.

  • Yeah and that's why I love James Taylor.

  • THAT IS NOT HOW SAXOPHONES ARE MEANT TO BE PLAYED

    jk this is awesome

  • Jesus FUCK.

  • Love at 2:30 how Brotzmann walks in like he is honking on a blues tune in a strip bar!

  • Just out of interest, do you know what kind of channel this aired on in Germany?

  • Cool. Really refreshing !

  • Thanks for posting...would love to see them perform "Fire Drum" live if such a video exists

  • You guys know any ACDC?

  • Think of this as the big boy's version of 'Highway To Hell'

  • Comment removed

  • @bobjazz11.....William Shakespeare's " Richard III "Winter of My Discontent"

  • LOL

  • I first heard LE because I was looking for a good jazz guitarist and was turned on to Sonny Sharrock. I wasn't that impressed at the time (still I heard something) because I was only just getting into free jazz and didn't even know noise. It's been around a year now and after discovering Brotzman (via Myspace of all places) and Bill Laswell (via John Zorn) I find myself hear again with new ears. It seems that my young ears were at least a little enlightened. All I'm sayin' is OGs right here.

  • WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING ii-Vs

  • Thank you for sharing that

  • As they said in Back to the Future, "Ah, that was very... interesting music"

  • Hehe, well it´s not everyone´s cup of tea.

  • sharrock was the man. he did the space ghost, coast to coast theme song

  • What an incredible performance. Is Mr. Laswell playing a 6 string bass?

  • Looks like a guitar strung up with bass strings. I could be way wrong tho.

  • I believe it is a Fender Bass VI, a six string bass voiced an octave higher than the usual bass (and an octave lower than a usual guitar). Robert Smith of the Cure is famous for using one.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • no, it is a bass strung like a guitar:

    E A D G B E

Bass is only 1 octave lower than guitar, not 2.

But don't feel bad many people make this mistake for some reason.

  • @rillloudmother

yes you're right. it was intented to be used as a six string bass and the tuning corresponds to that of a standard tuned guitar.

  • @rillloudmother

But , come to think of it now, it sounds more

like a baritone guitar especially when strummed, although it was intented to be used as a six string bass with the four lower strings corresponding to a four string bass. Modern 6-string bass, as far as i know, is tuned just like a modern baritone, only one octave lower, using much thicker strings of course :BEADGC

  • @rillloudmother Maybe because guitar music is written an octave higher on the staff than it sounds.

  • brotzmans is terrifying

  • what a great moment they're having. Nice vidz, thx for sharing, just perfect

  • My face just melted at around 5 minutes in.

  • Gave my neightbours a hard time back in the early eighties when I listened to Last Exit, Painkiller ... while playing my trumpet all the time under my parents roof

  • hehe :p funny memories ;)

  • gotta get high on the same stuff they've been having, to catch the tunes.

  • I understand these guys started out as a wedding band...

  • hahaha

  • ummmmm, ok.

  • What the fuck?

  • This music music killed Sonny(sadly), made Peter crazy and sent Shannon into retirement!

  • is laswell playing a baritone guitar? i think its called the fender jaguar?

  • I love this. Often, when i listen to last exit, i'm reminded of that sesame street exercise, "which of these things is not like the others?" the answer is always bill laswell. take that for whatever it's worth (probably very little).

  • Hey

what a great comment! - Thanx, I'm gonna nick it!

    Bob

  • It was the beret.

  • AWESOME!!

  • R.I.P. SONNY SHARROCK

  • I DIDN'T WANT IT TO END! Thanks a lot for sharing this - totally amazing!

  • Do happen to have more of this performance?

  • pure fire

  • That was awesome. Thanks a lot!!!!

  • wow Thank you!
