  • My two cents on h2o.

Reverse osmosis filters are the best to "clean" water. That is DI water. - no ions in h2o. BUT that might not be best for birds. Spring h2o with minerals/electrolyte are needed for humans, prob. birds too. Boil chlorine water is far cheaper than a RO filter. Or, just buy spring water @ grocery store.

PS looking for a hyc. breeder in New England (R.I.) area if anyone has info. 8•16•11

  • Thanks for answering all my questions so far... But I have 1 more where did you get your hyacinths??? Thanks

  • @TheFoodLuvers Ivy was born in the Florida Keys (Key West, I believe) and we purchased her through a broker. Unfortunately, I can't recommend using the broker we did.

  • OK thank you alot... uhmm ive read on alot of sites that there needs to be chlorine free is that true???? if so do u know if that purifier takes it out? Thanks

  • @TheFoodLuvers I believe it greatly reduces it, but I don't know of any filters that purify the water 100% guaranteed. Of course, you could always buy fully purified water (about 79 cents/gallon at our grocery) or boil and purify it yourself.

  • Love ur bird. Im thinking about getting a hyacinth and I was wondering if u used a water purifier and if so what type is it? Thanks

  • @TheFoodLuvers We have a water filter from PUR. Not sure of the specific model, but it cost about $30-40 at Target and uses replaceable filter-cartridges that cost about $15 each.

  • Love it!!! She's adorable! Our girl does the same thing! I think Hys wish they were ducks! :-)
