  • When the flats are dry you start catching them.I have caught 1or2 a year for my whole life.We caught dozens that day. They are a delicate fish.We were wrecking them up bad with the trebles. We went to single hooks and then moved on in search of bass.

  • it is a chain but the markings on the top of that one looks like a northern, weird never seen that

  • Wow!! Never caught one. Those things are badass!

  • didn't know they had pickeral in fl.

  • @thewiffenpoof .I find them at the end of the winter dry season when the flats dry out they are forced into the canals.

  • ahh ok then sorry. i was just up in wi and got a 45 inch muskie.

  • you retard this is not a muskie it is a north pike.

  • @MvPOFBHD Ok,Im the retard!I am joking about the muskie,I am in Florida after all.It is a chain Pickeral, and always will be,forever and ever.

  • my friend caught one 1 thght it was a pike

  • I dont get them often ,but that year we got a bunch.

  • where in florida is this?

  • Fort lauderdale ,off aligator ally,75 north.

  • i go fishing in alligator alley all the time.....never seen one. so im guessing they're along the canals on US27?

sorry for asking so much. i just really want to catch some of these.

  • I fish all over ,from okeechobee to south dade, and usualy catch one a year on average. That year ,or week I should say,We caught about thirty of them,Its been two years now and I think I saw one off the sawgrass the other day,but I havent caught one since.i dont think its possible to target them and catch them, but I have only caught them on plugs and stick baits, never on plastics, friends of mine have run into them while shiner fishing, very clean warm water seems to be a must, timid fish, good luck

  • thanks for the help

  • Chain Pickerel are the only members of the Pike family that I know of,which can be found in warm southern waters. I think the borderline on water conditions starts at Tennessee and moves north for even finding Musky. I Musky fish in Kentucky but wouldn't even try to Musky fish south of there due to the fact that the water isn't cold enough, which is when they bite the best. It's like saying that you're going fishing for Tarpon in South Dakota..doesn't make sense.

  • just for information purposes, these are pikes, not muskies, just thought i'd let you know

  • just to let you know, these fish are chain pickeral, not northern pike or muskie.cant you tell when someones having a little fun, tight ass.

  • you call me a tight ass after your comment? LMAO yeah okkkkkk... & thats a pike, not chain pickerel like you guys call them down there... look for the scientific name of them... tight ass LOL google pics of pickerel.... see what happens, pickerels are walleyes dumbass

  • fucking canadian, your lost,Let me just say If I caught a pike in florida waters I would be one famous son of a bitch.whats a matta daddy never took you fishing.and by the way I was stationed in wisconsin for years,Ive caught more walleye pike and chain pickeral than you have IQ points.go back to googling,Im going fishing.

  • see? thats why everyone hates the dumb fucking americans, lippy AND stupid!!!! ah well might as well give it up & leave you in your ignorence, dumbass, yeah you do that, go fishing.... do the whole world a favor, drown yourself queer

  • let me put it in as terms even an anal know it all canuk can understand, northern pike,of witch I believe you are refering to,mate with northern pike and make little northern pike, chain pickeral ,a seperate species, mate mith chain pickeral, and make little chain pickeral.I would no more call a pickeral a pike than I would call a bass a sunfish, although they are in the same family.I may be the ugly american, but you are a stereotypical canadian.now dont go away mad, just go away.

  • please, can you explain again? i dont get it... LOL dumbass

  • now thats just sour grapes you sore looser.now take your ball and go home, take off ay

  • Great video, nothing more fun that catching muskie and pike. I lost the biggest pike of my life earlier this summer...we won't talk about that lol.

  • we dont get pickeral much, but when the water is down you get lucky, occasionaly we get a snook, now thats always a nice surpriseand usualy lasts about 3 seconds

  • really? how deep is it?

  • They run between 2-14 feet, when you come to fish in the everglades this is what you fish unless you have an airboat to get out on the grass flats. On this day the water levels are down, that's why we are catching pickerel, the usually live on the flats, large mouth and peacock bass are what we are really after.

  • Wow nice river

  • believe it or not thats a man made canal in the florida everglades.Ihope to get a real muskie in lake of the woods minnisota next year.
