Bute was up at 8. The ref counted slow, true. Just count steady from the time he hits the canvass. So even if the ref did a proper count, Bute would be up in time. Then it's a judgment call for the ref to see if his eyes are in focus. Now in a title fight with 3 or 4 seconds left, a ref will not stop the fight.

Bute won. Not pretty but a win nonetheless.

Fist you can not be saved by the bell at any round you have to get up, second the referee should have stopped the fight long before BUTE falls because he was K.O. wile he still standing on his feet. third the count starts as soon as the boxer is down not when ever the referee wants to start it, and you count actually real seconds, 10 real seconds not the kind of shit the ref. did. Bute beat the count. If the ref had counted continuosly he got up at 8 or 9 secs. The ref would have let the fight continue even though Bute was in bad shape cuz he was the champ and there was less than 10 secs left in the fight. The real question is whether if the fight had continued did Andrade have enough time to put him down again so that he could not get up????

The ref calls a fight off for a TKO when a fighter needs to be protected from taking further punishment. In this case, there was no time left so a TKO was not warranted. Bute was up before ten and the round was over. Andrade came well out of his corner to almost centre ring, which is why he got warned, but Bute was up and the round was over anyway.
