early days man! i remember these tunes playing on we gram with all the snap, crackle and pop, yes while we eat breakfast before we head out to school.
Am glad that I found the music of the Tradewinds on YouTube. Many years ago we purchased a LP by the Tradewinds while visiting Trinidad. Am not from Guyana, but music is truly the universal language.
My dad is from Guyana and I am so proud to be Canadian and Guyanese :) He loves the Tradewinds, so have heard much of this over time. I know this music reminds him of home!
Hey Karl... Why thank you for the great video. It is really sweet music to my ears. My brother in Jersey just sent med some salted fish and I just prepared it foir ny sons and I for dinner and this is just a superb topping to that dinner. Love you for it.
Was musically intoxicating to hear this song by Dave Martins & the Trade Winds after more than 30 years!! The best rendition to me!!! Thanks for the pleasurable memories (especially with the picts. added). ...AW
Thanks for such beautiful memories, these songs are like therapy or and old lover, sweet ,sweet, how about some karaoke versions of their songs will be great at parties.thanks
My mom is always reminsencing about all the great times she had growing up in Guyana. I missed my grandma. She was the historian 4 the family and could tell u who was related 2 who throughout the family. She even passed on which African nation our family originated from b4 slavery. Anyway, even though I was not born in Guyana, I'm proud 2 b a guyanese descendant.
howdy Goduk 321, U r 1 of those ppl who left their country for a few yrs , return with now nice to say & ask a ?? IS THE COW STILL EAT GRASS!!! Tis ppl like you who give that beautiful land , GUYANA that is ..DISRESPECTED... If u donot hve any thing nice to say about OUR BELOVED GUYANA , then put your tail between ur legs and SHUT UP!!!
MAY GOD BLESS GUYANA AND ALL WHO STAND BESIDE HER!!!!
Superb! Loving de pics! Once u were born in Guyana u r a Guyanese regardless our identity.... or where we live! is any Guyanese out there who dont enjoy our Guyanese cuisines?
Like dave martin said ..We aint giving up no mountian, We aint giving up no tree we aint giving up a river that belongs to we no one blue skai not one rice grain not one curass not a blade of grass ...GUYANESE PRIDE!
chadsexinton if you were born in guyana you will forever be guyanese no matter how hard you try not to. it's a beautiful place, juss corrupted by stupidd people.
chadsexinton why you vex, who nah like fi hear dem old tunes which bring back memories this ah we folk songs in the Caribbean thats truly Guyanese G.T. Massive Big up.
who says im not proud? you're stating the obvious. I raised a valid point. Guyana could be much more than what it is if so many smart successful didn't move elsewhere.
My Gran is Guyanese and it was great to see her face light up when I played this for her :)

That is the Princess Hotel formerly known as Buddy's Hotel located next to the national Stadium at Providence East Bank.
You have to pass there to and from your way to Timehri and Georgetown
