I just started guitar lessons and I told the instructor that I wanted to learn some Adam Ant songs. So I think I'll use this video as a tutorial as well. Awesome!
What guitar and amp combo ? I heard Marco used a Fender telecaster not sure what amp. May be a Fender amp with spring reverb fx. O like to re-create the sound if anyone has any info on this.
With the Ants Marco used a white Gibson Les Paul Junior with a single P90 pickup. Don't know what amps he used, but Fenders would be a good guess, given the big reverby tone.
@adrianallan , thank you so much and sorry for the late reply! to achieve the "Burundi drums" sound, there's a bit of distortion on the guitar, the "dirty "channel of the amp (here i used a Marshall), but the trick is really in the hands, mute with the left hand, not too much and kick the shit out of the guitar with the right hand! ( you'll probably hear some weird harmonics, you can deaden the stuff with your muting hand, but, i like those harmonics sometimes)
Thanx Buddy! this video was done this way! if you want to play some Ant riffs to me the job is done, thank you so much for your comment; to me Marco Pirroni is very underrated, he's agreat and talentuous guitarist, we've got a lot to learn from his guitar playing! cheers from France, Fred.
needs close ups of your fretting hand, cant really see whats going on too well. Well played though, adam & the ants were great, decades ahead of their time
was wishing u would keep going!!! thank u!!

Very informative and well transcribed - what effect pedal gives the guitar the percussive sound of the burundi drums ?
