Contrary to popular belief the Live rear axle is often *better* at keeping both rear wheels planted evenly and thus is better at delivering power. This is well know in racing circles and all that truly know about suspension, its major drawback is under undulation (bumps) in which one tires conditions effects the other. This often makes for a bad ride and wheel hop *unless* the suspension is tuned to counter the effect, or have the addition of a panhard bar.
You ask if its better under Track/racing condition why is everthin IRS. simple.weight reduction,and better overall ride. Not particularly better performance. Case in point.The Saleen Mustangs.Look at there racing accomplishments. years ago Saleens have won championships in ALMS, SCCA and GT2 class for several years straight against europes best. Porsche. thats mustangs beating porsche! even came in 9th overall at the 24hr lemans. Of course IRS is overall better, but the LRA can perform.

The brakes on the ZL1 are kinda questionable. The new GT500 is a huge upgrade over the old one. It has launch control, adjustable dampers with the push of a button and a tested top speed of 202 mph. The only question about the GT500 is the tires. to be continued...

But they say the car grips really well and puts the power down better than the previous GT500. Its got a tremec TR6060 6 speed maunal thats geared very similar to what the Ford GT was. The end result is 2 fast good looking cars. The stock ss does it without boost and has 426 hp. The boss is 444, all new kooks performance exhaust and a cold air kit and a tune and my ss has 400 at the wheels. The boss is probably 385 at the wheels.

Well, the new Mustang does weigh less to begin with and it does have more torque. The 2011 GT500 does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds while the ZL1 does it in 4.3. Assuming that the 2013 is going to be faster than the 2011, which it will be since it has 100 more HP, I would say it will destroy the ZL1 at least in a straight line.
@MacGruber94 how can it do it in 4.1 seconds the car isnt even out yet or produced. top gear will test both cars. these are all theories people are throwing out. the real results will see when they come out.. but i have a feeling the ZL1 will be a better car overall!!
I really doubt that the Camaro is going to out handle the GT500. The Camaro weighs more and the Mustang has always handled better. The GT500 is only about $5,000 more, which I'd say is worth it when you get 80 more HP.

There is a pretty bad rear fender mating shown at 0:32. The sound is very nice but the size of the exhaust tips look wrong. Actually, they look really ugly. The interior is standard Camaro ugly. Doubt you'll see these running around much.

Chevy oughtta stop being cheap and start making hardtop convertible's. And they also need to step up technology wise with a better back-up camera, gps etc.... all that stuff the 2010 challenger has. Eliminate a couple of blindspots, upgrade the interior material, add a bit more detail to the dashboard and try to shave off 2-300lbs(try). They also should add the built-in neon interior lights, like on the shelby I think it is. I still love Camaro's, always will I'm not bashing at all.
Both the Mustang and Camaro are kick-ass American cars, Fast V8's and a hell of a lot of Torque, I wouldn't mind having either but if I got my choice I would choose the Mustang, not quite as flashy as the Camaro. Still thumbs up to American Muscle!

No its not a bad looking car at all, (this coming from a mustang guy) but i think the whole transformers thing put a bad spin on its appeal. Or maybe it was the Transformers/lame linkin Park connection that we simply cant shake off. Every time i see a camaro i think cornball transformers. The camaro is very comical in its design. very plasticy in its look unlike the Dodge or the mustang. But all of them needs a makeover. smaller lower sleeker less bulky.

they look like what they are.. a totally different car that was rebranded as a camaro at the very last minute
way too big, flabby, reliant on brute force. totally the opposite of why camaros/mustangs (pony cars) were even built in the first place - a smaller more nimble alternative to heavy clumsy "muscle cars"

Ford does it with 4 valves per cylinder and chevy does it with a supercharger.
The end result is 2 fast good looking cars. The stock ss does it without boost and has 426 hp. The boss is 444, all new kooks performance exhaust and a cold air kit and a tune and my ss has 400 at the wheels. The boss is probably 385 at the wheels.

I guess comparing the Shelby SS against the SLP ZL1 is unfair. Hell, even comparing a GT500 to a SLP ZL1 is unfair. I think now, the Camaro has fattened up enough to compete with the Challengers.

@dtdeb99 They need to be fare about it and run the 750hp SLP ZL1 against the GT 500 KR that has 750 hp. Even thought the mustang is lighter and will probably win, that is more fare than trying to compare a ZL1 that has 580hp to the gt 500 that is supposed to be 650hp next year. In that case the mustang would have the advantage in power and weight.

@31794ty i highly doubt the zl1 will out handle the gt500.. The gt500 has the boss 302 suspension which is used in the ford race cars.. Plus the zl1 has less power and has a worst gearing ratio... Its gonna be a good race between the two but the gt500 will most probrably win..

Well, the new Mustang does weigh less to begin with and it does have more torque. The 2011 GT500 does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds while the ZL1 does it in 4.3. Assuming that the 2013 is going to be faster than the 2011, which it will be since it has 100 more HP, I would say it will destroy the ZL1 at least in a straight line.

There is a pretty bad rear fender mating shown at 0:32. The sound is very nice but the size of the exhaust tips look wrong. Actually, they look really ugly. The interior is standard Camaro ugly. Doubt you'll see these running around much.

I think GM is only making this camaro to save face for its performance image. But,its too big of a car to be compared to other high end sport cars and for sure it won't have a cheap price tag. I doubt it will out sell mustangs, cobras and etc. And to top it off as soon as its released a Shelby GT 350 will be in its final developing stages. Sorry GM but this car is no game changer.

Chevy oughtta stop being cheap and start making hardtop convertible's. And they also need to step up technology wise with a better back-up camera, gps etc.... all that stuff the 2010 challenger has. Eliminate a couple of blindspots, upgrade the interior material, add a bit more detail to the dashboard and try to shave off 2-300lbs(try). They also should add the built-in neon interior lights, like on the shelby I think it is. I still love Camaro's, always will I'm not bashing at all.

Both the Mustang and Camaro are kick-ass American cars, Fast V8's and a hell of a lot of Torque, I wouldn't mind having either but if I got my choice I would choose the Mustang, not quite as flashy as the Camaro. Still thumbs up to American Muscle!

Did i forget that the Boss is $40,000 while this is over $100,000, if you want a fair competition where this will easily be beaten wait for the 2013 GT500.
