Personally If I had anything as old as an iPhone 3G i wouldnt upgrade. Theres not that much extra for the older hardware and it just slows the phone or ipod down. I upgraded my 3G to 4.0 before I upgraded to the iPhone 4 and it was slow as hell. On the new iPhone its the fastest iOS experience I have ever had so it seems the hardware cant handle it. The touches and iPhones prior to the 3GS are all running at 400hz with 120mb ram vs 1ghz and 500mb in iPhone 4 with way better integrated graphics.
Just wondering if you put it in "macro mode" ?
