  • Real shit - thank you Kalib and keep it up, don't let them drag u down! PEACE!

  • one of my favorite kweli songs

  • hes bald??

  • Why is he never mentioned in any top 10 list?

  • Wat become of a dream deferred?

that never makes it to the world to be seen or hurd

    do it breath?

do it got a heartbeat? is it alive do it breath?

only to become a star in the sky,

    i believe.

  • This joint is what hip-hop is really about....Love the soulfulness of it.....

  • this is my got damn jam

  • "i'm a hustler, im a gangster and a rebel//

with the rank of a general in the battle between God and the devil" wow

  • Lovin this!!!! About to add this to the iPod rotation

  • Looks like there are 9 Souja Boy/ garbage rap fans who disliked this video...

I love this song. It's been my cell phone ring back tone for almost a year now! There isn't enough good hip-hop music like this and Mos Def around.

  • Talib Kweli makes music that has a purpose with the strength of 1000 men. Doesn't mean he doesn't doubt.

  • thumbs up if you been by that murial

  • Talib Kweli is quite better than Lupe

  • Talib's flow on this one is poetry... "what becomes of a dream deferred, that never makes it to the world to be seen or heard, do it breathe? do it got a heartbeat, is it alive? Do it leave, only to become a star in the sky?". I'm loving this......

  • Lupe Fiasco Vs Talib kweli, theese rappers are often compared to each other, i just wonder who you think is better? i personall think Lupe Fiasco is better, his lyrics and flow is just better.

  • @Mrcharliem251 kweli is wayyyyyyyyy better than lupe but lupe is good too

  • @Mrcharliem251 You make me laugh, u probly dont even understand half tha shit lupe says, he just has a unique flow and his new album sucks ballsak, KWELI on the other hand, always comes threw, with tha shit, that will bone ur mind. Jcole is the perfeceted version of lupe, but even he doesent touch talib. Ive heard talib fit so many words into one bar that i cudnt even repeat it when tryna to rap it. Hes tha best ever.

  • @ThaSubzstance Lupe's new album sucks? Have you heard gutter rainbows? LASERS is no where near as good as his othere two albums, but if you were to look it up Atlantic Records forced Lupe to make it that way, he had no choice. Talib's lyrics are easy to understand and don't have much meaning to them. Lupe uses things like metaphores and his lyrics have far more meaning to them. Gutter Rainbows is terrible!

  • @Mrcharliem251 man, i respect ur opinion, but gutter rainbows doesent suck, it has at least seven songs i could name. to name one COLD RAIN, is fuckin nuts,WAIT FOR YOU, SO LOW, PALOOKAS, IM ON ONE, ALL murk ANYTHING lupe puts out. Yah he says sum next shit that 5% of people would understand and it sounds cool, but why do u think people love 2pac?

  • @ThaSubzstance I respect Talib and Lupe, there are not many rappers out there that don't just rap for money etc. People don't care about lyrics or meaning theese days so we should be thankful we got people like Lupe and talib keeping hip-hop alive.

  • top five dead or alive

  • Talib is the man

  • It's not just black people hommie... It's aimed at everyone. They try to dumb down people because they don't know the full fuman potential. Or they do and they know how catastrophic it would be if people could tap into their full potential. I'm one of those few.

  • I've been to that record store before.

    It's been a while though.

    Good song.

  • If there is anyone out there who knows where i can get the J Dilla cap @ 0.16 please let me know.......

    please help

  • bittorrent

  • I am not talking about the song i have all of j dilla songs including the Rare MCA album...but there were J dilla tribute hats that were released a while back about 200 of them but i can't seem to find it any where.....you can see it in this video at 0.16 its the one with the shinning album logo in it....

  • No way you will be able to get those. They are from back in 2006 and they sold for $74 a pop. Only 144 were made per type.

  • Try mervyns

  • this is real hip hop

  • @olbobby1927 ...why didn't they play this video?? ..they didnt play it because...corporations/radio/bet believe that the people, niggers, black people etc dont like lyrics...they like to dance , they like to drink and act a fool...they dont like poetry ...or whats real!! Sad but true there is a market for niggaz ...dont believe me

??? look uo o.j. da juiceman......dude is gettin hella promotions..and he is as stereotypical as they come....why??? because there is a market for niggaz

  • preeeeach...if it doesn't make ringtone money, involve the formaliac bullshyt about clubs bytches and champagne, or a rap/r&b song, then you will not hear it on the radio across america unless you have sirus because clear channel radio and radio one controls the airwaves and all of their programming is virtually the same...and now viacom thx to mr. johnson is about to run BET into the ground, rather, put the final nail in their coffin. hey radio, we like more than the same shyt u play everyday

  • @THUGNERD81 Skin color is pretty irrelevant in that aspect really. Plenty of white people fall into that market trust me lol.

  • @THUGNERD81 you can't say "the man" thinks black people only like to dance. look at house music.. it goes all throughout all genres. the band blues traveler have a song called "the hook" that is about nothing at all.. and thats the point of the song. people want thought provoking music in hip hop cause the style and the poetry involved gives you that capability. the genuine will remain while the lames fade away so i'm not worried about it

  • i love the girls voice. so soulful

  • Thats his wife in the background Res, such a lovely couple

  • Just out of curiousity how do you know this? I have wondered who is wife is for some time and haven't found anything to verify its Res.

  • lol...that's because it isn't...his wife's name is Darcel, and not Shareese Renée Ballard bka Res

  • ballllllllllin

  • whoever marked that as spam is gay

  • why didn't they play this video?? feel the heartbeat..feel the heartbeat...classic 4 sho

  • they didnt play it because...corporations/radio believe that the people, niggers, black people etc dont like lyrics...they like to dance , they like to drink and act a fool...they dont like poetry ...or whats real!! Sad but true there is a market for niggaz ...dont believe me

??? look uo o.j. da juiceman......dude is gettin hella promotions..and he is as stereotypical as they come....why??? because there is a market for niggaz

  • by far best song on the alubm

  • kweli just delivers classic after classic, and i just love this beat so much!!!

  • 2 rite, this is some real shit, none of that lil wayne reformed processed studio gangsta bullshit

  • kweli is amazin, i didnt really like this (EARDRUM) album too much but this song is a classic video is basic tho

  • lil wayne and rappers like him are industrial an comercial rappers that brainwash people brains so they dont think about real problems....talib, mos def, common, dead prez, immortall are the opossite....peace from Croatia...

  • dont forget 2pac

  • Talib on another level, love that guy

  • feel tha heartbeat feel tha heartbeat

  • Why isn't he as famous as Lil Wayne? Talib Kweli is the best writer I've ever been exposed to. Sounds great too!

  • its cause hes not a sell out, he doesent want to be as big as lil wayne

  • The industry only thinks about what sells, what is hot out there. These kind of hip hop doesnt sell, give them a chance ? the industry wont. Because it wont sell.

  • I love Talib. He is one of the greatest. I think this is his best album since Reflection Eternal. I considered it a classic when I 1st listened to it. Definatly a materpiece.

  • great video talib!!!

    ^_^

i love that song man, great intro for ear drum definitely

    -mentalist

  • for all you that dont know or arent familiar with talib kweli..when he says hes only using 10% of his mental on instrumentals...hes not exagerating ask ya favorite rapper..they listen to talib for ideas (excluding nas haha)

  • good

  • DIS TUNE IS

  • touches the heart and soul

  • beautiful

  • DAMN...

  • nice

  • "This aint my full potential, only using 10 percent of my mental on instrumentals. 'incidentally, my energy heavenly. can he be so ill, there aint no, pill or no remedy.' probably the best lyrics i have ever heard

  • 'incidentally, my energy heavenly. can he be so ill, there aint no, pill or no remedy.'

  • "This aint my full potential, only using 10 percent of my mental on instrumentals".

  • I'm feeling this rhyme right now, in these times with white collars crying foul.

  • Who is the chic on the hook?

  • Res.

  • the first line about a dream deferred is from a Langston Hughes poem, talk about poetry over the beat and rhyme

  • soulful

  • aaah pity, the female voice on the album version is way better

  • yeah this is gay

  • & the album version of the song is better... not so many adlibs, it lets the beat & the lyrics mindfuck u

  • madlib pwnz.. sad that jlib can't exist anymore.. rest in peace jaydee :\

  • word....no disrespect to Madlib, but Kweli would have definetely killed a J Dilla beat!!!!!

  • I remember someone told me Kweli aint as good as Lil Wayne. I was laughing my ass off.

  • I'd say, Kweli fucking rules. Lil Wayne isn't very good.

  • Wayne got metaphors but would get murdered against talib. It's no contest talib and mos got it down.

  • I do wanna see another BlackStar albulm...I've been bumpin only that in my car for about 3 straight weeks now. Oh yea...Kweli could kill Soulja Fag wit just one verse. The End.

  • kweli could kill souljah fag with just breathing on a beat

  • This is qwite a spetacular song,haha!!

  • WHO THE HELL COMPARED KWELI TO SOULJA BOY? DON'T EVEN COMPARE, YOU'RE CRAZY WHOEVER MENTIONED SOULJA BOY IN THE SAME BREATH AS TALIB KWELI.

sorry for caps and no offence to Soulja Boy but that's just a really stupid comparison

  • This video is what hip hop is all about...

  • Lol, like what he said.

    "You can't please everybody"

  • Soulja boy should not be said in the same breath as Kweli. I agree with USAWorse ThanHitler, i miss Blackstar

  • madlib with a very nice dig

  • Yo, what becomes of a dream deferred? That never makes it to the world to be seen or heard? Do it Breathe? Do it got a heart beat? Is it alive? Do it leave only to become a star in the sky?

Kweli; hip hop refined to it's purest state.

  • This is the shit right here, REAL Hip Hop!!

Kweli's lyrics are unbelievable, one of the greats!!!

  • i just saw talib open up for nas last night. god damn talib is amazing. best opening ever. the crowd kept chanting his name after he was done. BIG UPS TO TALIB

  • i wanna hear lupe and kweli colab

  • i wanna see black star again...:(.

mos without kwe and kwe with out mos isn't just the same...

  • This is real Hip-Hop from one of the masters you knew back in the day...oh, and Soulja Boy sucks dick

  • whoa!!!!!

sumbody just compared soulja fag to talib??

  • who ever just compared soulja boy to talib kweli is an idiot!

  • but its tru.. humans supposly only use 16/17 percent of theree mental.. but scratch that.. this nigga ripped this so fuc*ing nassty... his flow is stupid nasty

  • "scratch that, this aint my full potential only using 10 percent of my mental on instrumentals"... damn son... i imagine him just using 20%... heez a beast...

  • u guys all need to get a life

  • man I forgot about this song because I always skip track one because the woman speaking at the begining...But its so tight...If you like Kweli you might like me go check out my song "count on me" and tell me what you think...by the way this CD is a instant classic my favorite song is Hostile Gospel...dont Pirate Buy albums lets keep hip hop alive

  • Did some 11 year old just compare Soulja boy to Kweli? On some other video people are commenting that Page is better than Hendrix. WTF is wrong with people out there!

  • did u jus say soulja boy is hip hopp hahaahhhhahahahahaha..... r u kiddin mee

  • Un motherfucking believable. you should visit a psychiatrist

  • yo soulja boy is a god damn faget ok?? you dont know what real hip-hop is !!

  • @recca..Fuck u and soulja boy both of yall can eat a dick!

  • WTF how can any one compare Soulja boy to Talib Kweli? Kweli is on a whole different playing field then these lame rappers out now. Talib is one of the great rappers that doesn't sell out his music and put out garbage just to make a quick buck. When I think of the top 10 rappers of all time I think Kweli earned a spot on that list. Soulja boy wouldnt even be in the Top 200 of rappers. I rather listen to a Kris Kross CD.

  • Agreed. Whoever talks Soulja Boy in the same breath as Kweli ain't got a clue.

    Kwe's the King. Simple.

  • word...can you say "jump..jump!!"

  • suicide pls

  • She is just here to stir some dumb-ass controversy

  • talib THE ONE

  • soulja like my dick and balls !!!!he suckS !!

  • Your dick and balls suck?

  • soulja boi sucks ur balls and dick?

    ur nasty

  • Why would you even mention soulja boy? Why? Why? WHY?

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You must be retarded or very funny. I can't even begin to understand you rational. Why do you think that? Talib has constantly blessed the mic with epitomizing rhymes for over a decade. Soulja boy come with that ole mundane radio shit that only people who cant think (or just don't think) like. Bottom line, every body knows Soulja boy couldn't fuck with Kweli on his worst day. I bet you even know that!!!

  • Kweli just breathes NY hip hop. He has that aoura about him. You can feel it in his voice, flow and lyrics. And he picks god beats too so that helps. Talib Kwlei is one of the best that EVER did it. And he won't stop.

  • The song and flow is just amazing. Its just way to short for my liking. No true chorus but the flow is amazing. Kweli shoulda had a 3rd verse in this. "I keep you hot but stay cooler than the night flame". Thats a sick line.

  • I'm waiting on my Everything Man. This is my favorite track off of Eardrum, I love the poetry opening in the beginning of the album track. I recognize the poet's voice, but I can't think of her name. Does anyone know?

  • Sonia Sanchez

  • cool song, kweli might as well be on a pogo stick he so hip hop

  • wow... that was so lame but so creative... and true
