So I know I'm kinda late on watching this but Picoult is talking about Nineteen Minutes... a book about what happens when someone is judged by appearence and such and the consequences of it. It's sad that people are commenting about her weight. I think those people are missing the point and need to look at themselves. I mean, what reason is there to bash someone like that? They obviously haven't read Nineteen Minutes or any book by Picoult for that matter.
Jodi Picoult is my inspiration for writing. Every time I finish one of her novels, millions of questions bombard me which then turns into my own novel. Jodi Picoult, I am forever grateful for you and your works of art.
its sad that more people are being influenced by the media... hence they think that celebs (authors included) should all be pretty and slim and covered in thick make up all the time.. Well, wake up people! The woman you just saw in the video is what real moms look like all over the world!
Wow some people are ass holes. In case you haven't noticed, more people look like her than they do Adriana Lima so get over it. Not everyone looks like a model.
I luv them all and her signature is the twists! My fave is NINETEEN MINUTES!! And then THE PACT, CHANGE OF HEART, MY SISTERS KEEPER, KEEPING FAITH, ect ect
All of her books are amazing, but I especially love My Sister's Keeper and Change of Heart. Jodi Picoult seems like so personable, too - totally the kind of person you'd want to meet and get to know.
@rosek102 Ehh, she's okay, but she's not as amazing as people think. She's really nice and everything, but she isn't this amazing person that everybody thinks, I live in Hanover and I'm friends with her son.
i understand that everyone has a right to their own opinoin, but if this is the opinion you have, keep it to yourself. this was rude. and postiting it shows how obnoxious you are
Jodi picoult is one of the only authors that can make me connect so closely with her characters, she has some magical way of creating the people in her novels come to life so that they are no longer trapped in the pages of a book but are simply living breathing people that you feel you have known for a long time. most of the time you get a great book and then the follow-ups are nowhere near as good but Jodi writes so well its unfathomable how well she does it.
the picture on the back of the book was old. who cares? we dont read her books because she has a nice headshot. we read her books because they are enrapturing.
I just want to reflect on the fact that nomatter how intelligent, thoughtful, or successful a woman is, she is still judged primarily by her looks and weight.
She's a bestselling, controversial writer, Princeton grad, and mom.

im sorry but she needs some bangs and a hair straightener to help thin out her face. she also needs to not lean back so she doesnt have a double chin when she talks. she looks terrible and so unlike her picture! i think if she updated it, people wouldnt be so upset!

I agree. The fact that they obviously doctored her picture A LOT for the back of the book is messed up. I watch this and I'm like 'who tf is this author?'
What on earth makes you think they doctored the photo? I'm looking at it right now and I'd say it's simply from when she was younger and thinner. Big deal -- she seems like a wonderful, genuine person, a good mom who is happy, and a talented writer. Who cares whether she could be on the cover of Vogue?
If you want to look at a model, buy a fashion magazine for goodness' sake. Maybe she doesn't want bangs and straight hair. I happen to hate bangs. Maybe she's just fine with the way she looks. If you're upset over the way a human being looks, you need to reexamine your priorities.
I appreciate her comment about looking at the reality of bullying and its role in violence. Finally we are not dismissing bullying as "boys will be boys."

She is without talent and without perception; she still writes like she's five years old. I despise her and her mindless fans.
