1 acre of hemp produces the same amount of paper as 3 acres of trees. Trees take 20+ years to mature to cutting size, yet a full crop of hemp can be matured in 100 days. 1 acre of land that grows hemp can produce up to 180 times the paper that an acre of trees could over the span of 20 years.
Add to this the production of hemp seeds during the process and you have access to a protein rich, super healthy food source as an added freebie!
@agente180 well then be a proponent of tree farms. The fact of the matter is, growing trees is good for the environment. If you give corporations a reason to grow them, even better. In short use paper screw recycling it.
the 'cool truck' in the beginning was a spray truck. Yeah, cool indeed.
If you're from this area, you should read the book "A Bitter Fog" Herbicides and Human Rights by Carol Van Strum. If you read.
Paper is a nasty industry, but it doesn't have to be. Industrial Hemp doesn't require herbicides, or any of the chemical intensive processing that wood fiber pulp paper does. So, these paper farms aren't what you're thinking they are.

So you're saying the chemical process of making new paper is actually worse than the chemical process of bleaching (etc) and recycling old paper? (also dont forget the benefit of acres and acres of trees in the "farm"
Since that paper tree farm is 1200 miles from where i live, the bronco at 10mpg would have been a bit expensive. so i took the fuel effecient (by my standards) explorer at 19mpg. I'd like to take my bronco up there some winter and go snow wheeling though. that is definitely in my future "when im rich" plans.
@thashane A small diesel SUV (like a bronco 2) tops my list for mileage/practicality. it would hold my tools and work supplies, and get 35+mpg. If cargo wasn't an issue, a tiny diesel car would be #1 on the list. I think diesel is the way to go for economy.
I completely agree with you. I'm a cummins man myself and I was extremely excited when the big auto makers were supposed to release new diesels here in the U.S.
I've always wanted to put that small cummins 4 that came in the late 80's f350 vans into a small pickup of some sort.

is this a bad joke?

most paper doesn't come from farming trees but from irresponsible deforestation. and tree farms doesn't sustain any diverse life ecosystem.

@agente180 No it doesn't. It'd be economically inefficient. All you're doing is spouting emotional hippie crap.

That is Awesome! I like how they're all lined up . .. how long will it take the trees to get that big again after they're all cut down?

interesting take, except you forgot that the phosphates and acids used in the paper mills are pretty nasty...

@rhauf1 Well done! Tree's are a RENEWABLE resource. I have always heard that paper which uses only 30% of recycled paper is the most efficient.

@rhauf1 You should get a hybrid! That way you can support strip mining of nickel but feel like you are making a difference.
When you could've purchased a honda crx for $2k and get 50mpg anyways!
