  • no offence i think hr669 is the STUPIDES IDEA IN HISTORY (SERIOUSLY)!!! thank god my countrie are bussy with stopping illeagel animals export reply or comment on my channel plz keep it clean

  • this bill is an abomination.

hopefully it gets so watered down and riddled with so many loopholes that in the end even if it passes, it will be so weak that it will be like there was never any bill in the first place

  • If people would stop donating to Wayne Pacelle and the terrorists at the HSUS, they wouldn't have the money to pay their lobbyists to infringe on our God given rights.

  • Great video!!!!!

  • ahah i live in canada so it;'s not afecting me or my bearded dragon :))))))

  • If the businesses that make money selling exotic pets had to clean up the mess created when the animals escape and start multiplying they would go bankrupt. Exotic plants and animals are spreading and cost billions to control. The bill does not ban all exotics, it just requires that they be evaluated to see if they have the potential to invade.

  • did this bill pass or did it fail

  • last i heard it was being re-written.

  • Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute! Does this mean that this bill is a no go or what?!

  • if this is only in America than i have no need to worry... YAY!!!

  • if OBAMA wants to ban non-natives then they must kill their stupid dog because it is not native which is bred for centuries from a different continent just like our budgies etc. which is non-native and captive bred.

  • Wow. Your absolutely correct. I didn't know they actually had a dog. But you are absolutely, unequivically correct.

Obama's house needs to be picketed. Lots of fat women in shell suits screaming "Give us your dog! Give us your dog! Give us your dog!" and totally break Obama's family's hearts when their dog is ripped from their hands. Much in the same way as all peoples pets seem to be being torn from them too, if this retard bill passes.

  • Seriously think about this: Does our cheap government have the power to ban ALL nonative species....

  • obama wants to save field mice...

  • Oh no, nonative species will be banned. I guess EVERYTHING must go exept native americans. How sad...

  • One of the idiotic sponsors of this bill has said that they look forward to the banning of all pets by 2050, including CATS and DOGS. What a moron!

  • actually the bill is on temp hold, the bird people are still in a lot of trouble, go to the NAIA web site for more info.Great video, I included it on my blog, dogs dollars & sense.

  • They rejected the bill, it's never going to be active. Reptile and amphibian orgnizations made the biggest impact one the bill so thank them :-)

  • kill the bill - not the animals we love!

  • This is worse than trying to stop the fun sport of dirt biking. Karma will get them in the end for trying to stop ppl for doing or having things that are their passion. I too am an animal lover and have a congo African grey that is just like having a son or a daughter. Don't be an idiot and vote NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ON THIS BILL

  • ki kil kill kill t kill th kill the kill the b kill the bi kill the bil kill the bill HR669[.]COM for more info!.
  • nobody will take my baby away i love my parrot nobody can split us up im never gonna let anyone sign this bill

  • I couldn't agree with you more. I have an African nGrey taht is like a daughter to me. Karma will get them for trying to ruin or stop ppl from keeping or doing things ppl enjoy.

  • this ban is stupid just kill it we need to work on the economy not on preventing breeding

    stop it

    now

  • Whats next, A ban on imported foods?

  • Things are looking pretty good for us now, but I'm skeptical that we should declare the bill truly dead. In its current form, most likely, but there is a risk of it being reintroduced, and I've heard it's still on the books so they could take some action on it. I've just been hearing so many mixed reports about what's going on that I"m concerned. Either way the invasive species problem needs to be dealt with, but it needs to be dealt with properly, with a good bill, which HR669 is not.

  • I hope those declaring victory over HR669 are right, but again I've just heard mixed reports on this, and really would like something to fully clarify what the bill's status is for certain.

  • so the bill didnt pass?

  • I'm glad that bird owners are taking a stand as well.

  • If you guys really wanted to save animals thought the US, you would want the native ones to be save too. I mean what are we going to do about it! We can't just do nothing! What's so bad about keeping native pets anyway? I mean seriously? Most of them have WAY lower needs than exotic ones. Some people in Australia or Costa Rica would probley think of our animals as "exotic." So just please, think about it before you make any more videos or go around telling people to support it

  • It's a moot point since HR669 is dead for now, but none of us are against protecting native animals. The point is that through captive breeding many private owners and zoos are able to save species from the point of extinction. Under HR669, zoos wouldn't have been able to do that.

  • I hate to say this, but you guys care nothing about the animals that are being breed thoughout the US. And probley being saved from exctiction. All you care about is your animals at your home, and personally I think you being EXTREMELY selfish about the matter. If you really did care about these animals, you would care about all of those poor animals being eaten alive right now and their species becoming extincted, because of stupid keppers who let their boas out(look on next one)

  • yes what happened?

  • By the way, the congress met today right? Does anyone know what happened?

  • HR669 is dead, at the moment. They have 10days to think of some response, but it's doubtful there will be one when it needs to be completely rewritten.

  • /i would HATE for them to extinct

  • Wonderful video, thanks for taking the time to make this to help spending the word! :)

    NO to HR669!

  • I hope it passes.....

  • Why would you hope it passes? You must not own any of the affected animals or you are misinformed. Please post your views on the PRO HR 669 videos instead of here. Or, stay tuned and watch the new one coming out today.

    Thank you and good luck.

    Carol, video creator.

  • I don't own any right now. But I owned posion dart frogs a few days ago, then they died...=(. It doesn't really matter anyway. The descion is tommorrow. I have argued and argued. Frankly, people have only saw one side of the arguement and are too lazy to go research the other side. When I first heard of this I was mad. Then I saw more and more of what it was for. As I said though, the descion is tommorrow. So there really isn't anything we can do about it now. Oh well...

  • The decision is not happening so soon actually. The bill is still in its infancy and far and away from becoming law. Even if during the hearing things are looking bad for us it still has congress, and the senate and then the president to get through. And during that time we can and should keep on fighting. The hearing that's going to happen soon is NOT the end of the legislative process. So do not lose hope.

  • It is not for protecting the environment. They are feral warrens or domestic rabbits all over the USA causing damage. Same for feral cats but they are exempt from the ban. It bans anything nationally that could live in a state. If penguins could survive in Alaska they are banned in Arizona too. Each state can ban any animals they want. The federal government can and does ban species that are invasive or proven could be like mongooses. This bans all unless you can prove innocence.

  • wth! look i have absolutely no patience for you idiot right now just because you have no animal you love that means that you can throw them away like trash! screw you and the hol you crawled out of!

  • look, your not going to expect anyone to listen to you if you tlak to them like that. I'll discuss it with you when you act civilized about it. Otherwise, happy trials!

  • why would you wish for that tho? look @ all the birds that people have now scarlet macaws in pet shops and small animals that poeple ant to own not to have them killed

  • So are you for or not for the bill?

  • SHE SAID VOTE NO HR669 DUH

  • Gezze, sorry... Your in a happy mood

  • sorry its just that u should have heard it

  • I don't know which side you are on

  • i want to kill the bill and save the birds and reptiles and small animals from being killed! :<

  • This bill won't kill them. Only not import and breed. =)

  • KILL THIS BILL! It's SICK!

This is a fantastic video. It really makes me so sad to know that there is a chance that this can be passed.

  • ki kil kill kill t kill th kill the kill the b kill the bi kill the bil kill the bill HR669[.]COM for more info!
  • We must stop these fascist bastards from controling our lives. Peta, hsus, alf, elf, are all killers of animals. They are liars and distorters of truth.

The target the vunerable minds of children and pit them against their wn families.

This crass UN-AMERICAN behaviour must be stopped.

    By`force if necessary.

  • ki kil kill kill t kill th kill the kill the b kill the bi kill the bil kill the bill HR669[.]COM for more info! STOP the NAZI Exotic Pet Killers from gassing to death our scaly, furry and befeatherd soulmates. First the NAZI politicians exterminate our pets, then its the people. Will non-native Americans, exotic islanders or undocumented workers be next for quarentine, gas chambers or FEMA prison camps? It all starts [or ends] here... BAN HR666, not the lives of our creature friends.
  • Really sweet video!!!!!!!!! Love the way you made it as if the bird was the one talking!!!!!! Oh... & Kgconstrictors is right.... This bill would ban... ALL NON NATIVE WILDLIFE... Birds, reptiles, fish and.... anything non native to the U.S.

  • great video! 5*

  • And whoever put a thumbs down on my non-bias comment that said "I just think that you guys should see both sides before taking one." HUH??? You think that someone should see one side and take it!?!?!? I'm not talking about everyone in this world, but some of them are so stupid about things that I just don't understand how they survive in this world.

  • KILL THE BILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Birdsafe you are wrong, this bill will prevent the breeding and sales of any non native species.

  • It won't prevent the sale and breeding of ALL nonnative species Kgcontrictors, but a VERY large number , yes it will. There's a few species all ready exempt.

One of the really scary things about this bill is that it indeed makes no exceptions for those breeding endangered species for conservation, so animals like the macaw in this video would negatively impacted by this bill. I think one of the most severely hit animals would be the bali mynah, they are almost completely extinct in the wild.

  • :( y would they even bother trying to pass somthing like this?

  • Well the sponsor is some bitch from fucking Guam...

  • Great job with the video! For all the screams from the gov't about wanting jobs and more taxes, they're trying to make sure just the opposite happens. Here's hoping they listen to the people they're supposed to represent.

  • good job

  • brought back to viable numbers by aviculturists. Here's some: Cheer Pheasant from Pakistan and Swinhoe's Pheasant from Taiwan, Nene Geese, Socorro Island Doves, Bali Mynah, Scarlet-chested Parakeet, Lady Gouldian Finches, California Condors, Whooping Cranes, Reeve's Pheasants, Lesser Sulpher-crested Cockatoos

Why not work on a bill that stops poiticians from being bought out and selling us out.

  • Our politicians kills more native species (humans) than any exotic ever could. Let's put things into perspective. This bill is also backed by anit-pet organizations. That should give everyone a clue. One generation and out. If you like this bills' message, better buy lifetime passes for your grandkids to see the skins of what were our pets in natural museums. This bill would be devastating to many endangered species. There are many birds near or extinct in the wild that have been - see next post

  • We fought for 5 years to get pouched rats legalized in the USA again, and now that they are, they're putting up this bill???! COME ON! We fought long and hard to legalize pouched rats again! Don't re-take them away! They're ABSOLUTELY AMAZING creatures, extremely intelligent, they've been used to detect land mines and TB cells, and have a higher success rate of detection than traditional medical methods! My boy was scary intelligent and a member of our family THROUGH AND THROUGH!

  • Would you guys really risk all of the birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals outside your house for one animal that could cause so much harm if it got loose? just sayin....

  • Anything living can cause a great harm but laws are already inplace with in each state. ACF, boas and other non native species can`t live in many parts of the states but in some can cause and issue.

  • This is such a horrid bill. I hate how this will affect my babies! (3 sugar gliders, a tortoise, a turtle)

But even my late gerbil Boo might be affected. Preposterous! WRITE YOUR CONGRESSPEOPLE!!! FOR REAL!

  • Great video and thank you for letting people know we will not stand for this

Again thank you very much for helping out with this and getting the word spread

Keep spreading the word April 23 is right around the corner

  • a lot of these animals that we own have been reported to have brought diseases along with them and to have spread them to their respective owners such diseases can spread and kill people if there is no way to control them AIDS began in a similar way

  • I love the word "reported" in your post. No real facts, just "reported".

The CDC website PROVES that humans get more "diseases" from eating chicken & chicken eggs than we get from our pets so let's ban chickens & eggs.

Cars kill more people than any pet anyone could own yet I bet you climb into yours every day. How many ppl do you know personally who caught a "disease" from an animal? Thought so, none. Now how many ppl do you know personally who've been killed in a car accident?

  • thanks for replying

ill be honest with you, i have no idea what i meant with that

but with keen people like yourself, we can really challenge those men who try to deceive us with their tricky laws and such

  • Here's something that was posted on a bird list I am on...it puts this bill into perspective.

    Think about it.

You own a pair of birds. Perfectly legal.

    But you can't:

    1. Move it from state to state?

    2. Breed them. - House to house inspection to make sureno breeding?

    3. Sell, exchange etc. them.

    4. Replace them - Every bird would have to be DNA screened so that you could prove that the bird is an original.

This is a bad idea and a bad bill. send faxes, call and complain. Just do it!

  • thanks

  • hi!

  • I think it's ok too as long as the animals are given the right enviroment and their needs are satisfied. I never said keeping pets was wrong!

  • And I didn't say that keeping birds was wrong. As long as they live in a nice envirorment with plenty of space and food and water to drink i have no problem with it. =) All I said was that it is impossible to give them all the space that was possible without letting them go. =)

  • Ah, okies. Sorry, I misunderstood your position. My apologies. :P

  • But I do think they have somewhat the right idea.

  • I did say that I don't think this is the best thing to do about the situation and the bill should be bended a little bit.

  • Yes, i do keep frogs. I love them with my heart. I let them have tons of room to hop around and play. They love their habitat. They prefer to hid in one spot most of the day though so space isn't a problem for them. =)

  • Sorry if I sound real argumentative, but that is pretty darn hypocritical saying that someone can't keep a parrot in even an aviary, but its okay for you to keep frogs in an aquarium. You know that if you left the lid off the tank, the frogs would escape and not come back. :p

  • Then you are being very selfish about the matter. If you care about the native animals, you would want them to be safe over the entire country.

  • Geofrog, just to clarify, do you think the breeding of cats should be banned?

  • Now I'm confused...According to your channel, you keep frogs. >.>

Why can you keep exotic frogs in cages, but other people can't keep birds, even if they have a whole bird room dedicated to them? @.@

  • And no i don't think the breeding of cats should be banned. They maybe an invasive species, but they are pretty much apart of the ecosystem now. They also eat mice and rats. As you should know, when the black plague was in Europe they killed off all of the cats because of superstisous belifes (sorry for the spelling). And do you know what happened? One-third of Europe's population died. Do you want that to happen here because of un-controlable flees? (this is a reply not a comment)

  • You do have a point. But the odds of you not being able to care for the pets and someone else not wanting to take care of them is very unlikley. If the bill passes I know that people would be dieing to get their hands on any bird. And you won't have a problem with killing any babies if you seperate the birds anyway. That's my opinion

  • Uh...if I am unable to care for my pets for whatever reason and someone else wants to take care of my pets, I legally could not give them away or adopt them out if this passes.

  • And if you think that animal crultey and risking America's local wildlife is OK, then I'm sorry but I'm not on your side...

  • Domestic cats devastate native wildlife more than any other animal kept as a pet. They are able to live and thrive in all states, whereas reptiles can only flourish in warmer states such as Florida.

It is moronic to ban the breeding and keeping of reptiles because of the possibility of them harming native wildlife, yet allow the most destructive pet (cats) to continue to be bred and kept as pets.

By your own logic, unless you support banning cats, you support "risking America's wildlife."

  • Almost everything we do is "risking america'a wildlife" and it is impossible to avoid. Getting rid of all of amercia's cats also near impossible to do. Although, stoping all imports of pythons and boas is something we can do and could make a real diffrence. If you would like to ban all cats by all means call your local state representitive and tell him, although it is very unlikeley that America will vote yes to something like that.

  • Except it wouldn't make a difference because those animals only flourish in warmer climates. Ball pythons are not going to take over where I live. Stopping the importation of them will do nothing either, as many are bred in captivity and are very affordable. HR669 wouldn't just stop the importation, it would stop breeding too.

I do not want to ban cats. I think people should be able to own any animal they want as long as they take proper care of it and obtain it legally.

  • Change we can believe my ass. This is what you get when voting for change. I'm not surprised since the HSUS pumped a shit load of money in to Obama's campain and others.

  • k ki kil kill kill t kill th kill the kill the b kill the bi kill the bil kill the bill copy and poste this if u think HR669 is wrong
  • Please watch your language. I know this is very emotional but, consider the feelings of others - we do empathize with your fear of this bill passing. That's why we are doing our best to fight it. Thanks!

  • VOTE NO ON HR 669

IF YOU DONT MY BABY BIRD WILL BE TAKEN FROM ME!!!!

    FUCK YOU CONGRESS!

    Fuck you!

  • The HSUS puts out negative propaganda and people who know nothing about animals believe every word the HSUS spews forth.

Look at the reptiles of Madagascar. Captive breeding by herpers is their ONLY hope for survival because there are almost no wild areas left for them to live in Madagascar.

This bill specifically states that no one can own/breed/transport across state lines a non-native animal. That part has nothing to do with importation.

  • This rule doesn't apply to Madagascar whatsoever. And if so are so passionate about keeping species alive why would you want American's native species to keep paying the price. I think the congress however should handle this another way...

  • If the H$U$ were so passionate about keeping our native species alive, they'd ban all cats. If you did a little research, you'd learn that cats kill more native species than ALL introduced non-native species combined!

At least the exotics are only affecting Florida whereas cats affect all 50 states.

Oh and it's not boas that are in the everglades. That tells me you don't know what you're talking about.

  • It is and maybe you should take your own advice, and this bill isn't concerning cats, it's conerning reptiles, birds, small mammals, and ampihbians. And I'm not saying that reptile breeding is a bad thing, I'm just saying that maybe they should breed these reptiles in another location or more secure places... I also think that these beutiful creatures should be treated better and be free, and not trapped in tiny cagges for all of their lives...

  • What about dogs? Why is it okay to keep them in kennels and houses, but not okay to keep birds? Responsible bird owners give their bird plenty of free-flight time as well, just like people who walk their dog/play with them in the yard/etc.

Dogs have natural instincts such as wolves, only dumbed down. But they are still there. If you left your gate/front door open, your dog would leave the house/yard. Yet no responsible dog owner lets their dog roam free.

    Is keeping dogs cruel?

  • I agree that is what repsonsible owners do, but not all owners are responsible. I am VERY STRONGLY AGAINST kennels/etc. I have a dog and we let try to let it have as much freedom as it likes. We supervise him of course but when he wants to go outside we just let him and he is a meduim sized dog and none of our neghbors have yet complaiened about this for the five years we have had our dog. And you know what? He never leaves, he always comes back. He doesn't want to go.

  • And with the birds, it is almost impossbile to give birds all the space they need to fly freely. But it is simply to expensive for most people to affrod

  • If its impossible to give a bird enough space to be content, then it is impossible to give a dog the space they need to run and play unless you leave your front door open so it can roam around the neighborhood whenever it wants.

Do you think people who do not let their dog roam around the neighbhorhood and instead keep it in the house/yard/take it for walks when they have the time/etc. are cruel?

  • It depends on the amount of space/food/love that the dogs are given to make me think that they are cruel. Sometimes dogs do not want unlimited space. Mine loves to be under desks,in his crate, or in any enclosed area that he can fit in.

  • Oh and one more thing. The non-native species are not just affecting Florida Mr./Ms. do you reseach!!!!! That is one of the dumest things I've ever heard (aside from some of the things bush/palin has said)!!!! Many states are suffering from this problem! Otherwise, this would only be for florida. The problem is just not as strong in the more northern states because of the cooler climate.

  • I said reptiles. Show me what states reptiles are taking over and damaging as much as cats are.

  • I can't control what freedom owners give to their cats. If they are going to let their cats outside all the time, then what is the point of having one?

  • With the Madagascar comment I was trying to make a point that the captive breeding of reptiles that's going on now is good and not the vile, destructive practice that the H$U$ R trying to make the general public believe.

Another misconception spewed forth by the H$U$ is that these exotic species are taking over the USA and that's false. It's mainly Florida & I wonder if it was H$U$ fanatics who released the Burmese in FL in the first place to gain support against the reptile trade.

  • She's not talking about breeding IN Madagascar. She's talking about breeding animals FROM Madagascar. HUGE difference.

  • Animals don't have rights. Rights are a human concept (or, depending on what you believe in, given to us by God(s)...I'm not aware of any pro AR Gods) that we apply to each other and do not exist in the natural world, as animals clearly demonstrate in how they kill each other for food and sport, plus many engage in rape-like mating behavior.

You don't see any dolphin police telling a group of dolphins they are bad when they gang-rape another dolphin and violate its rights.

  • However, most humans have morals that tell us the limitations of what we can do to an animal. We look at these as animal rights.

  • No, those are animal welfare laws.

If animals had rights, we couldn't raise animals to eat them, breed domestic animals, have seeing eye dogs, bomb/drug-sniffing dogs, therapy dogs, build houses out of trees, etc.

Also, morals vary from person to person based on what they believe in. Obviously, most of America thinks its perfectly fine to have pets. :P

  • i hav a snake and i voted no

  • Thank you Pocketparrot. Thanks for your support.

  • If I had them, I would video them. I'm in Northern California and can go short distances to video. I can also use just pictures...let me know if you can get pictures to me and I will put something together for the other animals.

  • Sure I can get some pics over the internet and send them to your email account if that's ok with u. P.S Sorry for not responding right away.

  • Finally a vid for birds on this issue now we need some vids for small mammals, amphibians, fish, and insects on the issue as well.

  • AWESOME vid!!!!!! I sent my letter! They just can't do this....we must not let them!

  • Birdsafe, unless you are an attorney too, I seriously question your layman analysis and comprehension of this bill. Genny Wall is a respected and experienced attorney, and her analysis of this bill is what I would believe, not your conjecture. Many members of WPT are NOT in favor of companion birds, so why would they care if a law was passed to eliminate pet birds?

  • I posted the general notes from the bill below -- the bill refers to IMPORTING animals into the US

  • I'm not an attorney and I doubt you are either. I'm not getting into a debate about this, as it would serve no purpose. Discuss it with a REAL attorney who is familiar with legislative language and understands the potential negative consequences of this bill.

  • I don't need to discuss it with an attorney to form my own opinion, nor do I think anyone else does. All I'm advocating is that folks read the legislation and decide for themselves! It may be good, it may be bad; all I know is that it really says nothing that will hinder your or my ability to keep a pet bird - it might hurt breeders and that's where the huff is coming from.

  • Ah, the truth comes out. You admit it might hurt breeders. Are you anti-breeding? Why? The "huff", as you call it, comes from more than breeders. Pet owners realize that IF THERE ARE NO BREEDERS, OUR GRANDCHILDREN WILL HAVE NO PETS! That's an ideal "animal rights" world, of course, but it sure isn't mine or most other animal lovers'!

  • That isn't true...most pet lovers DO think that their pets have rights, such as getting to have food, water, shelter, and love... You can't just speack on the behalf of all pet lovers (this is a reply to someone else, not really a comment)

  • It will not hinder my ability to keep my current pets, but should I die, have to move out of state, or get into financial trouble and become unable to care for them, my only legal option would be to have my pets killed.

It would also sentence to death any animals not on the accepted list that are born after the bill passes, whether or not there are people willing to take them in and care for them.

  • people -- please read this bill for yourselves -- it is NOT directed at birds. The importing of exotic birds is already restricted -- this HELPS birds by cutting down on poaching. This Bill WILL NOT affect anyone's ability to have pet birds in this country. This Bill WILL NOT reduce conservation groups' efforts -- notice that there is no mention of this bill on the World Parrot Trust website!

  • To put it bluntly...YOU ARE WRONG. This video was made in response to information from lawyers who have researched this bill. It has nothing to do with poachers. People don't poach in the US. And it isn't about conservation. It is about the right to keep and breed pets. And, moreover, the World Parrot Trust does not jump in to defend any pet ownership that I have seen. Instead, they created the bird flu scare that was concocted to prevent people from owning birds.

  • In General- The Secretary of the Interior, acting through the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, shall promulgate regulations that establish a process for assessing the risk of all nonnative wildlife species proposed for importation into the United States, other than nonnative wildlife species that are included in the list of approved species issued under section 4.

  • It IS directed at birds. It specifically states that you cannot own ANY non-native animal species.

Do you have any idea what country a Gouldian finch, a Blue & Gold Macaw, a sun conure, or a peachfaced lovebird originally came from? Let me give you a hint...It's not the US of A.

The HSUS and PETA believe that an animal is the same as a human & should have rights just like we do. They've been trying for years to get all pets banned & that's what this bill is all about.

  • this is the best yet !!

But you do kinow that is the agenda

    control of all animals

    and we know why

  • I'm going to post this to my facebook & myspace! Excellent vid!!

  • aw cute! birds are so beautiful! I have a green winged macaw named Rocky :)

  • 5 stars! his bill needs to be stopped

  • How/where do we vote?

  • Very good! I think you gave me a idea!

  • Thanks for this video. I hope this encourages everyone to write letters and/or call their representatives in Congress.

  • Another great video - thanks Carol

  • Great Job explaining the future of exotic pets. Government should stay out of the pet trade they can't handle their own job now.

  • This needs to be seen by everyone!!!
