I really don't know man, some kind of aftermarket thing. the head pipe is a bit bigger then stock. And its louder then stock, but not crazy loud like alot of aftermarket exhaust. Seems kinda cheaply built though.
BAM! new bearings in and new sprocket installed on axle!!! now to put it back together this afternoon and install the brake pads!! now all i need is to bust front axle bolt loose so i can put new pads in and install my parking brake lever :) then im off for another day of fuckin up hills and trails!!!!
I've been crazy lazy this week, and there are alot of honda ATC's out in the field that need my help. I think i'm gonna get my ass out there and fix some stuff myself!
i dont think there was any play, i was just replacing sprockets and was warned to regrease my bearings while i was at it, and didnt realize i could have just popped the seal off b4 i tried to pound em out, and was told to replace them anyways if i pounded. i just started puttin em in but missed and ate a seal :( so im havin the shop finish er off while they get the old sprocket off the axle :)
and of course!!! 30 seconds later their out lol.... and of course the old bearings still turned just fine and were full of grease, i just chewed up the bearing seals with the screwdriver on the first removal attempt lol
i had my bearing carrier out so i can have the shop press the bearings out even tho i kno how to install them, im gona give it 1 more shot to pound em out. my only other problem is theres a couple burrs keepin the washer on the sprocket from comin off so i can replace it which i thought about maybe hittin it with a dremel. already knew bout and packed my new bearings with grease :) shoulda just took the seals off the others and packed em b4 i started poundin on em with a screwdriver :)
damn!!!! this wouldv been soo much more helpful if u wouldv shown how u got the bearings out!!! i have to replace my sprockets b4 i put the new chain on, got the axle out, but cant figure out how to drive the bearings out so i can at least regrease em, thinkin bout brakin the bank more and pickin up new bearings 2 cuz the old ones dont spin to freely, which prob just need packed with grease...hopefully i can afford it :)
:) Hey man, Its really easy, i didn't even think to have that part in the video. Yeah, you just get a long screw driver, or long extension, any long piece of metal that you can hit with a hammer, and just stick it in the Carrier, down at the bearing on the other side, and tap it out, working your way around it in a circle, so you pop it out evenly. If you get new bearings, Be sure you pop the seals off and put pack them ful of grease like 79fordblake said
I used the same bearings as you on my 185s in the spring. I popped the seals off the sides of the bearings to look inside...they come with hardly any grease. I packed mine with John Deere Synthetic grease and popped the seals back on. Sometime in the future you may want to pack yours. I was glad that I popped the covers off to check...I was shocked at the small amount of grease.
Yeah, wish i'd thought to check before i installed them. At this point, probably just wait till they go bad, then buy new ones, (pretty cheap) and pack them well before installing. Thanks for letting me know man
I did bearings on my buddies 82 200E, and i checked the amount of grease in them before i installed them, you were right, there was hardly anything in there. Thanks for letting me know man! I never would have checked :)
@tommartyn, No problem at all man....glad I could help you out. The bearings I bought are holding up great, they got quite a few road miles on them now too. Its crazy they make a quality bearing but they get ya by not packing them good...tell everybody ya know so they can do the same to theirs lol.
thanks for the vid .i have to change mine on my 1984 200s and ive never done the job before so i was a little nervous, but your vid makes it look pretty easy.now im not so worried about givin it a try.will PB Blaster help on the sleeve issue if mine is stuck? Thanks again for the info...
Yeah, its not to hard. All the ones I've done, the sleves are no problem, but sometimes the brake drums are seized on pretty bad, and are really hard to get off. But normally some blaster will help a lot. Good luck man!
Yeah man, i'm splitting it :) I really like working with firewood man. I've been getting fatter and fatter lately, so i'm glad anytime i'm doing something that actually takes a decent amount of effort. Can't wait till its snow mobile time again.
@tommartyn yeah man i cant wait for the vids make sure you post as much as possible loveing the vids im a long time sub an will be even for longer great job
I'll try to get as many vids up as possible man. Thanks alot for sticking around over these years. :) Its always cool to see a user name thats been around for a while
@tommartyn yeah man notta problem you got some pretty intersting vids i try to keep the comments to a minimum because i knowed you get crammed with comments but i gotta show my respect alotta times to show yuh how much we appreciate the vids
:) Thanks man. Feel free to comment any time. Thats why i put these videos up :) to talk to people about any of this stuff. Sometimes it takes me a few days to get around to the comments though. and sometimes they end up getting lost in the shuffle, but i try to always get back to everyone.
Thanks again man :) I've been slacking on the videos lately, hopefully i'll start getting more up soon.
That would be awesome :) If i had one. Lots of stuff like that i want to start buying. I'm going to buy a puller for the atc 200 flywheels. Just be easier to do everything. Just got a timing chain for the CL100, drew's motobike.
hey tom I need a little help. just got a 84 big red but the shifter is fallen off. do you reccomend welding it on or jb. it was jb welded but the guy didnt slide it on all the way
Hey man. I would get a new shifter for it. JB weld isn't strong enough to hold up in those situations. If the old shifter is broken, i'd definitely get another one on ebay or something. they're pretty cheap. You don't really want to weld it on, because then you can't take it off if you have to open the case, or replace the oil seal for the shifter.
@tommartyn i am going to just put a small bead of weld on the shifter rod and tighten it down to thay. both the shifter and rod are stripped out and the previous owner j-b welded them. i cant wait till i get it riding again, have to get new spark plug wire and then its all set, at least i hope so
U were right, that is-int to bad of a job.U guys need a (or maybe not) a fucking backhoe to create some carnage!Man me and my crew use to go on them late night romps and had a fucking ball doing it.There were definitely some tore up shit from time to time. The way i look at it if ya tear it up fix the son of a bitch or put it in the fence row or pile! The short period we have to live on this place i say have fun while you fucking can.LOL later on man.Great vids btw.
haha, yeah man. I don't know the thing is just one of the biggest disappointments i've had. It was about 1000 bucks, and the rear axle is ripped off the frame... never have any motivation to work on it.
I had to do those bearings on my blaster a few years ago, although a completely obliterated one bearing; took the axle out and balls fell out! but very easy to do
Yeah, they really aren't bad. the only thing thats ever really a problem, is if the rear axle is stuck in the carrier. There is a sleve in there, and sometimes the axle will get stuck on it. and on the bearings. Drew's 350X has that issue.
Thanks man! Yeah, for sure, real easy. I've done a bunch, and they all tend to work pretty easy luckily. Even after all the hours they have in the creek. :). How's your beast doing man? Fixed mine, it was the magnetic pickup, the bolt was loose, fell out and destroyed all the parts. Fixed it easy once I found it happened. Running good again :)
:) hahah, yeah, he likes the two wheel riding, for sure :). It's not to hard on them though, they are decent sized bearings. There were a bunch of things that pointed to the bearings. They didn't make any sounds, but I put brake pads on, and it air ygm down within a day of riding. Because the drum is on the axle, and the shoes are on the carrier. And when you rocked it left and right, you could see the axle staying still, and the bike moving left and right. Best way to tell :)
Good how to video.I never did get my hands on that 3 wheeler I was tellin ya about a few months ago.The ppl that had it shoved it under the deck on the house !!
