got the book for Christmas, love it but a bit difficult to understand

Doesn't the bus take them from the valley of the shadow of death to the valley of the shadow of life? (the latter being the shadow of Mt Zion)where they are welcomed by the shining ones(heavenly hosts)which seek to

help them into the kingdom by leaving 'self'

and all it's baggage behind?
