A very beautiful song and well performed by Vera Lynn. The lyrics to the song was written by Arnold Goland, and the music by Jack Gold. However, and even though both gentlemen, apparently were very talented, the internet unfortunately only provides very scanty information on their persona. The only conclusion i've been able to come to is that they were American and - judging by their family names - of Jewish ancestry.
this is so exciting. That is why i love you tube. I thought this song was original from French ,cauz i heard this from Franscoise Hardy: Comment Te Dire Adieu. then I found on you tube with this song with few difference versions like from ABBA (Frida group before they were famous as ABBA world wide) then japanese version, Russian version, Germany version, and Jane Birkine sang this song with different sound too. check them out
This song was popularized once more in 1967. Vera Lynn, named as the Forces' Sweetheart" . Very well-liked with her song We'll Meet Again, Vera Lynn is now 92 years. Thanks so much for your upload of this very rare music.
i just love all her songs - so thank you for putting these on line for us. i have quite a few of her cds now 7 also am hoping to get her book soon - have it on order at my local bookshop. once again thank you . Sheila
This song is so romantic. I love listening to it and imagine dancing with my special someone. Atleast in those days songs really meant something, can't say the same for alot of the stuff today.
This is not a 1954 recording. It was the late 60s.
