Bettman has done a lot to promote hockey and try to expand its popularity to the southern USA. The guy gets a much worse rep than he deserves.
That being said, he needs to lose some of the southern teams he is responsible for. Hockey in Winnipeg, Hamilton and Quebec City is a MUST!

@xander0713 Both sides were equally responsible, for canceling hockey. If the league did not have a strike they would gone bankrupt. They needed a strike, because with out a strike, the players would have never agreed to a salary cap. wages were to out of control then, for the league to survive.

Canadians are fucking idiots. Its not Bettmens fault that the Whalers, Jets, and Nordiques moved out of Canada. The cities couldnt raise money for new arenas to be built and American cities Carolina, Phoenix, and Colorado were able to get arenas for the teams and they moved to America. So stop your bitching because you failed to keep your teams in your country.

How many NHL-calibre players are born and raised in Florida? The teams you mentioned; none of them lost $200 million dollars over a decade like the Phoenix Coyotes; but were deemed unstable and moved without hesitation.
The fans did what they could; but the NHL drove itself out of those markets.

Yes, it must be nice getting to see NHL hockey for free. There are thousands of tickets given away for games in Florida and similar places, and you still can't sell out.
The revenue numbers prove your sad franchise is not in hockey country; otherwise you'd pull your weight with the Canadian teams.

The attendance figures are glossed in a number of places; and knowledgeable hockey fans are leery about the numbers that are reported.
I don't support the Panthers because I don't support NHL franchises in the American sun belt.
