  • awesome... i was trying to figure out a good way to do this.

  • simple and awesome, cheers!!!

  • u know you could always try taking better photos

  • That was seamless mama! like your tutorial.

  • Thats Cool

  • This one was new to me- so easy too. Nice tutorial!

  • There is so many easier ways to do it.

  • Wow, finally a video that was made for a novice. Thank you so much!

  • Thank you :)

  • so the point of the 1px adjust is to prevent a 1px stretch at the inner most bound of the selection?

  • @Nallenbot The point of backing up 1 px is because if you don't and then zoom to 100% you will see a 1px line that won't be covered.

  • I do not have a clue what you were just talking about.

  • tnx mama helped alot

  • @kirakira2k thats true

  • love all your tutorials thanks so much

  • ...Or you can just crop it.

  • Don't let them trolls get to you photoshopmama, I think your voice is sexy.

  • i hoped you would show that pic. closer

  • Thanks! This is a great tip.

  • Thank you Mama for a great tip and I love your videoes ... and your voice too. Very pleasant. ♥

  • You've already posted your fat women comments on other videos of mine....my voice isn't going to change but I guess you're just too stupid to figure that out, so you keep watching my videos. Ha!

  • @McDope13 shut up dude. :p

  • I do this in 50 seconds with the Clone Stamp you've taken 3:26 bad example

  • @McDope13 don't you think a good portion of it is explaining it really simply for beginners though? clone stamp is tricky if you dont know how to use it well, but with her method a beginner can do it pretty easily

  • @McDope13 probably because she doing a tutorial.... not a speed through.

  • very nice solution!!! keep those tips comming!!

  • hey how come this doesn't work on CS5 ?

  • Thanks Mama, once again a tut that will save me a great deal of time and is quick and easy. Having such a small studio like I have makes space in the image a premium, and I can't always get the model in the shot without shooting just outside the background or including light stands....this is such a time saver. Mahalo to you~

  • As I said previously, this is nothing more than sterile manipulation. If anyone aspires to create genuine art, throw all of this out and work by hand; graphite pencil, colored pencil, etc. on a personal choice of supports; paper, Bristol vellum, Illustration board, etc. If you aspire to be excellent at drawing, you must learn your craft, and this is the only way.

  • thank u mama

  • You are such a great Instructor !! Perfect pace !!

  • What a great tutorial!! Thank you so much!!

  • Yes this is nice, but why didn't you just use content-aware here?

  • @Jilvids Content Aware didn't exist in this version of Photoshop. This is an older video.

  • Very basic and there are more ways, maybe faster! Time is.........

  • Gee! I don't think its a good idea.. If you go to "Levels" and Make it DARKER then you will see a close look at the pixels as it will have a problem..

What photoshop is that? CS5 are way better as can go to "Edit>Fill >Content-Aware" it will help to fil in the colours! :-D

  • Photoshop Mama 4 president !

  • The crop is so much faster, i don't see point of this but it's a good tip

  • great technic!

  • why do you back up 1 px? nice vid, tnx

  • @mrseverinasj Because if you zoom way in and don't do this there will be a tiny 1 px line and this covers it up.

  • WoW nice and easy thank you

  • photoshop is a money pit.

  • @VALMARIESASK ah...life in general is a money pit.

  • @VALMARIESASK Download it free using Vuze

  • nice one! - I'm trying to make a skyline car stand out from outside type of background, but I'm not sure how to do this in Photoshop CS3 - any ideas on how I can this please?

  • @eweaving Paint it bright pink

  • Excellent videos!

  • I've been photo retouching and into graphic arts since I was 9 years old and come from a family of many computer degrees, I'm older now, 13 and I was wondering what photoshop would you rec. to me? Like as a first? I use GIMP and PSP but I want to save money up and eventually buy some version..Would love a comment back! =]

  • You can order with an Educactional Discount through Adobe's site for Photoshop CS5.

  • @xoxcarolinecarebeare I feel your pain. I beta tested PSP a since the JASC days when 3.o was new. It made ti very difficult to transfer to Photoshop later on in my career since it was the standard.

I would recommend CS5. I dont know why but so far it talks to me.

  • @xoxcarolinecarebeare Or Torrent it for free.

  • @xoxcarolinecarebeare Download it free using Vuze

  • very nice tutorial!! thanks!!

  • excellent video.

  • Great j

  • clone would be much easier/faster

  • @craigqc No it wouldnt :S

  • What a sexy pic to explain this haha thanks

  • Thanks for the great tutorial. I'm backing up 1 pixel but it's still leaving a background line, what should I do?

  • zoom in to 100% to make sure, sometimes the cache views are misleading. make sure you're backing up toward the subject, if 1px isn't working try 2px.

  • @jobow

  • @PhyraxDesigns Gotcha.. Thanks for the tip. I always have shots like this that are good and the model is happy with but sometimes those spur of the moment shots accidentally capture the background stand/part of the lights or the wall lol.

  • why not just save time and crop the pic??

  • I want to buy photoshop, but which one is best? There is Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 & Premiere Elements 8, Photoshop CS4 and CS5 or Photoshop 7. I WANT TO LEARN A.S.P

  • I recommend Photoshop CS2 through CS5. Elements is limited and Premiere Elements is for movie editing not image editing.

  • @photoshopmama THANKS! But why not Photoshop 7? I see alot of people using it here.

  • works like magic....thank you so much... this video is so informative..(^^)v

  • simple but very amazing. I didn't even know of that trick on photoshop. I'm more an Illustrator guy and am trying to discover all the great stuff you can do on photoshop. thanks.

  • Very good tip, thanks.

  • yeah, it's nice, but instead of doing those tricks you all should try to take good photo. You've lost a lot of pixels by shooting a white background...

  • Fantastic tip!!! Thank you! I like the way you teach, too. Clear and concise, and quick to the point without a lot of extra chatter. Keep up the great work!

  • use the crop tool?

  • @RDRLRA hell jeah lol

  • i swear you are amazing

  • "you suck at photoshop" series is way better than this.

  • hey mama, I thought I was pretty good @ ps but after I saw your vids I realize I Know nothing

  • good video :)

  • Amazing! just what I was looking for! Thanks Mama!

  • No word just woa!!

  • Hi mama! I played cooking mama.

  • Mama, gurrl

it would be a lot easier if freelance Photo jocks had stop bogarting the photo shoot with the over usage of "PERSPECTIVE"

    LOL

i use Windows PAINT to crop the edges. then Photoshop CS4 handles the firework show :p

  • Your videos are fantastic. You do this for a living, and yet you share your knowledge for free. I just skimmed through the all the comments on this vid, and over and over again the "why 1 pixel" query, and every time you patiently explain. I pray you are blessed for your generosity.

  • I try to do my best...I have been accused of having the patience of Job! That comes in handy if you love to teach. Thanks for your nice comments, I appreciate it and the "blessing!"!

  • But this won't work when you have a busy background like a normal kitchen or something

  • right--hence the name "Fill frame with Seamless" for seamless backdrop.

  • Thank you for speaking slowly & clearly and without a pointless music track in the background.

    Nice pace & I've learned a new trick :o)

  • thank you for the 1 px trick that's what i've missing. :) you are the best yt ps teacher. :)

  • Thank you for a great video.

  • Thank you for this very informative tutorial. It was very clear and understandable.

  • Great tip! Unbelievably simple when you see it but very useful.you can probably use it on a clear blue sky over the horizon with just a partial selection as well? just not all the way from top to bottom but just take a bird in the sky out or whatever with a selection from to about the horizon.

  • you do so good at explaining! Thanks so much!!

  • back this up. hahaha

  • Sorry about my voice--I was born with it so pity me don't criticize me for something I cannot help! At least I provide usable content--what have you done for the community, lately or ever? I find that critics who do nothing for the community are the most ANNOYING ever!

  • I find people like keYserSO to be useless pieces of wasteful space. Your voice isn't to be pitied at all. Some people have such a miserable life, they toss around insults as if somehow it will lift them from their pathetic existence.

I'd like to thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge in very informative and educational tutorials. I've enjoyed the learning experience from seeing your tips.

  • Thank you, pity was not the word I wanted to use but the point being that if someone had the least bit of courtesy they would never insult or criticize someone for something they don't have a lot of control over. He or she has the absolute right to their opinion, but it really seems like a mean an pointless statement, as it makes me feel badly (for a minute or two). I'm just sensitive like that, even though I do know from folks like yourself, that I'm more appreciated, than not! Thanks!

  • :)........................

  • You have the most annoying mind EVER!

    Feeling better now?

and BTW why would one tool always work? Do you have problems with nails and scredrivers as well? Your brain must be the mos useless EVER!

  • My first point was valid, this doesn't always work (fact)...My second point is my opinion, which I am entitled to express, it's called free speech. I will continue to express it for EVER and there is nothing you can EVER do about it!

  • Oh, c'mon! Grow up already! You can't even distinguish between being rude and free speech? Free speech is saying anything without risking the police come knocking on your door, letting you "disappear" without a trial for expressing your thoughts.

And sorry to break it to you but there is something people can do when you are rude to them. They can remember you! And all of a sudden you might need some kind of support form somebody that happens to remember you ... good luck, dickhead!

  • lol your funny!

  • Michelle Obama is that you?

  • There is a new feature in CS4 called "content aware scaling" that doe the job very well.

  • Yes and it works really well most of the time if you're not scaling too much. It would work fine in this example, too. This video was made before CS4, though.

  • why back up one pixel?

  • Sometimes if you zoom way in there will be a white hairline, backing up prevents that.

  • genius

  • @photoshopmama Nice idea! how did you come up with that method?

  • experience and observation

  • @photoshopmama very well done, you explain very well. probably the best tutorial for photoshop ive seen ever... im gunna subscribe :)

  • nice

  • sweet !!

  • seriously i never thought that way b4 LOL

  • WAAAAY better than the clone tool!!!! You are a master teacher. Thanks.. Keep up the great work. Don't listen to the haters.

  • i allways used the clone stamp tool but this is way better!

  • thanks!! you helped alot.

  • The clone tool is easily detectable.

  • @FCKEVRY1 No not if you do it right...

  • The problem with using the clone tool is that if the area you select as the source has any (and it will) variation from the area you are repairing it will be very distinct and look like a crappy editing job (which it will be). This method simply stretches any variations and leaves them virtually undetectable.

  • clone tool is fail...

  • thanks mom

  • Comment removed

  • thank u mother

    really appreciate it

  • thank you mamma

  • szybciej bym to w paincie zrobiła.

  • thank's mom

  • i just rub it out, then i go into levels, bring out the whites, adjust the mid tones etc n ur done.

  • Rub it out..hah.

  • Is this with cs3 ? please get back at me =}

  • its photoshop CS2

  • very very very beginner level

  • This is one of those "why didn't I think of that!" moments. Great tip, thank you.

  • her voice and manner of speech is very soothing to me. plus this is a great tip!

  • video was very helpful

  • thanks :D

but i have a question, couldnt you just crop it....

  • Sure you could crop it and that would change the dimension so if you wanted it at the original dimension then you sometimes need to know how to fill stuff in or hide it.

  • @missmary7777 Cropping is one option, but in some cases you'd need to have that extra background, say for adding text or other images, and aren't you happy of learning other ways of working?

  • very helpful.

    thanks

  • I don't understand why you couldn't just crop it, could someone explain.

  • Think "digital zoom" on a point and shoot; you are merely bringing the image closer to your field of view, effectively changing the dimensions--not good.

  • nice backyard

  • 100th comment.

  • so basic

  • Great~~~

  • Thank you!

  • quite clever thanks.

  • Extremely helpful, all those similar jobs I did the hard way and today I bump on your tutorial Thanx a million :)

  • i always forget how to do this and i always use this vid to help...thanx so much...VERY HELPFULL...this is totally going on my faves!!!

  • Hi Photoshopmama,

This is a very good tutorial. Thanks. I have a question about seamless. I have a 500 x 500 seamless texture that I would like to use as a background for the start of a larger image that I can build on. Can I fill an new image say 2000 x 2000 with this texture and make it fill that image and have it fill seamless. Thanks again.

  • thanks

  • thx- you rock !!

  • you are one of the best photoshop people on youtube! Most of them just show you how to do it without talking but you take time and explain!!

  • Sometimes it won't let you deselect by clicking off of the selection area, but the hotkey [shortcut] to deselect is CTRL+D. Thanks for the tips though, I'm dabbling in editing people's pictures to make them look celebrity-like and this will defently help. :D

  • wot does the "1pixeltrick" do actually? y is it so clever to do it with this one pixel more...?

  • to protect from leaving a tiny gap. If you're careful when stretching it won't happen but sometimes it jumps a little toward the direction, so stepping back 1px first prevents the gap, which you can only see when zoomed in.

  • nice one mama :)

  • great tutorial :)

  • Just got my first roll and background paper . .. this tip will come in handy during editing. Thank you!

  • this is a nice trick. Nice
