  • I've takin shits bigger than that

  • no sound and the damn thing doesn't even run..... lame

  • THE LEGENDARY BIG BOY!!!!

  • DAM i wish i had that 4 my brithday :D

  • The longest model train ever run was 1,103 cars hauled by Jim Fitzgerald's custom built "Cotton Brutes" at an NTRAK convention in the early 1980s.

  • @DavidBromage Yes, it was great. Remember, the custom frames gave the U-boats the power and weight needed to do the job.

  • I love trains but must admit that was one lame vid.

  • @sjtom57 it deffinately wasn't lame actually being there. It was one good time i'll never forget

  • Erm, nothing even moved?!

  • I loved being apart of the World's Longest Model Train, ahh those were the good old days. Anyways great video

  • I loved being apart of this, ahh those were the good old days. Anyways great video!

  • I would make a terrorist to sdcale along with a car and carbomb the terrorist would pard at road crossing and wait for train... BOOM your train = DEAD

  • AWSOME

  • I have 10 acres in Pike Co GA. you're welcome to come build a train set there !

  • how do we know that one train it looks like 2 to me

  • how can you call that the longest train you just showedthe frount and the ack of a train youu should of RUN the train to prove its the longest

  • Hey!

I live in Germany and visit the "Miniatur-Wunderland" in Hamburg every year!

And I think they got back their record again! =D They built an airport, skandinavia, Italy, the Alpins and maybe france or an other country.Together with the other parts of the big model train the record should be their. But you've the worldrecord for the biggest model tr. outdoor, or the world record for the biggest privat model train in history. I think I've got the biggest wooden train in the world (BRIO) ! =D

  • 40 people woke up on the wrong side of the bed,

  • @0812201 - diesel-electrics are about twice as themally efficient and considerably less labour-intensive... but nowhere near as spectacular to watch go by.

  • Ok well thats cool and all lol but you really didn't show any of the train kind of bummed me out haha I was expecting to see a 200 car long train or something!!! All I got was the first few cars and the last few cars.....need more haha

  • dust fag... all my model equipment would probally make 100feet

  • This is not officially the world's longest, but perhaps it's one of the world's best looking locomotive models. =) G-gauge is THE best

  • what's a "costome" ?

  • what scale is that

  • i saw a southern pacific locomotive, could you gies make a small video of it and those other deasel locomotives

  • Will you ever be near minnisota would love to come?

  • wat scale nice locomotive

  • WOW!

  • @hancockshire Well you see, there are 44 engines controlled by 22 controllers on this train. There are grades of almost 3 percent and at the same time each set of 2 locomotives must pull 25 articulated well cars with containers. Each locomotive must respond immediately as well, steam takes time. The engine would also run out of water/ fuel within half a lap around this railroad. Steam would be hard to run on this railroad even without a 1,300 foot train.

  • @mramazing31 not if you had helper steam locos :P

  • @mramazing31 You gave that fella a nice response which he didn't deserve. That said, it would be a challenging & interesting project to see if one could design and build a steam locomotive capable of doing the job. It should be possible, given that the locomotive is built to scale and also given the track layout would certainly be less than scale mileage. One could "cheat" and use electricity for the fuel (to avoid the problem of fumes) but steam to drive the wheels. Interesting.

  • @hancockshire - hundreds of dollars versus thousands, or TENS of thousands. It's a no-brainer, really.

  • @hancockshire - A steam powered model Big Boy. I think that would take too much maintenance, judging because it's a BIG BOY engine, you gotta light a fire everyday, have Mini-water towers scattered all over the place, and to keep a fire, somebody has to constently keep the fire started, this isn't a real railway, of you'd need and entire workforce, sheesh.

  • @hancockshire because they dont want to, and there not stupid plastic trains, stop seeking attention and yapping your mouth off.

  • @hancockshire Would you mind restructuring your response, it isn't very clear, probably a computer glich.

  • @hancockshire later, dude

  • Saturday nite chi-town union station, is going to attempt to break the world's record on the longest train in the world PULL.. 5 set's of loco's will try to pull 1,400 car's around the model railroad in Commerce Michigan which is 2 rail O scale.. Stay Tuned.. Video will be comming soon..

  • The only record this video broke is for "The most dissapointing video on Youtube" The whole point of having a video is so that we can see trains move. Nice static display boys. Maybe next time you can pull the thing around by hand.

  • This is NOT the official worlds longest model train. To claim that in the title is misleading. That record was claimed in Germany in 2005 in HO scale and as far as I know, they still hold it. For credibility sake, I was part of the November 2008 team that attempted to capture this title in Arizona in G scale. After several failed attempts during that weekend, the team (including Rick) voted to remove the Big Boy and replace it with diesels as it was causing so many problems.

  • It is the TRAIN but its not official until we make the run. Next attempt is in march. (hopefully)

  • They could have just replaced it with an LGB Aster Garret, it has twice the pulling capacity as the USA Trains Big Boy and is just as big, yet it can handle an R2 curve easily.

  • No. USA Trains GAVE us this 4,000 dollar locomotive for FREE as long as we put it on the front of the train. This is a USA only train.

  • The real question on everyone's minds is:

    "But will it run?"

  • We've been trying for almost 2 years now. Next attempt is in march. Come down and help.

  • come where? lol

  • Scottsdale, Arizona

  • where and when in scottsdale? i live in hpoenix and i think it would be cool to this and be apart of it, or did i already miss it?

  • @TRD4X4kid Its more in the rio verde area. 144th street and dynamite. We don know when the next attempt will be, we are thinking september. But I will post a comment on here when I know for sure.

  • oh, alright, jus think id be kool to be aprt of somthin like that, and to jus see it

  • @TRD4X4kid I think september if we do it again. things arent going so well right now though.

  • 1,300 feet? How long was the train in the Super long G scale freight train video?

  • probably around a hundred feet. Maybe a little over.

  • yay, it's a Big Boy!

  • i've seen longer

its a big peice of kit that loco is my best one full peonix sound and mts in it

  • No, you haven't. This is the official worlds longest model train. I'm not talking about the big boy up front. Im talking about the entire train. Its over a quarter mile long. I plan to get a walk around of the entire thing during the next attempt in march.

  • yeah man

  • what kind of tracks is that and what kind of trains ?

  • re- do the video---this makes no sense....shoot the whole length,....real time, it does not show the total standing length, scale, or real measure.

  • Ya I figured that out. And I will during the next attempt. I didnt have enough time during this one.

  • /watch?v=9LsuNWjRaAo

    wolrds longest train ever!

    (normal sized)

advised to red description for info

  • woah, that thing must have cost a fortune

  • if you say so, this vid don't show anything close to any record

  • i think you should do it [my opinion]

  • Well we just hit the one year mark, we've had the train from March to March. We've had 4 or 5 weekends with probebly 50 attepts total. Its not happening. At least not ith these cars and engines. And if we can't do it nobody else will come close, trust me. However we have set a record in G scale- over 600 feet. We still haven't given up hope foe the overall record though. But if we ever have a chance to do it again it will be done differently

  • there are real live steamers that size id think the read deal b stonger but more expencive and hard 2 find but if u mannage to do this so need to send link to me

  • Live steem my ass. We would spend 2 hourse just greasin Steaming it up. There is no way live steem would be stronger. That thing has 25 pounds worth of batteries in it and has 2 24 volt moters as big around as your fist. the whole thing weights 75 pounds. We got it to run 8 laps WITH a full train. Thats almost 2 miles!!! And thats with the 2 and a half percent grades. Live steam couldnt make it 1 lap. However it would be really cool to see it live steem. I just would never waist my time with it.

  • i was also thinkin y only 1 engine when u can have more then one help pull it and ashame that u dont seem 2 b able 2 cuz it definetly b cool

    and dang thats alot

  • I run and build live steam locomotives aswell as full size shays. I can tell you that steam is FAR more powerful than just electric or diesel. I own several steam locos and steam is a powerful expanding gas. Steam is the most powerful form of power. Plus, it's much much more rewarding, no offense, but the guys who don't like it or want it are the guys who haven't tried it nothing beats the the STEAM LOCOMOTIVE.

  • hey im thinking about building a steam tractor....any tips?

  • well, obtain some plans to work from. Think about size and scale, smaller scales should use copper boilers while larger should use steal. If you don't have machine equipment or skills find somebody who does. A mentor is the best thing to have in the steam hobby.

  • thanks alot man

im thinking that i dont really care if it is a scale model of anything i just think it would be cool to have a steam tractor that i could ride around the ranch on

do you know of any place i could get plans for the piston/ cylinder assembly?

i can make a boiler no prob lol

  • Well It's harder than it seems, you have to have water legs,(unless briggs) tubes copper is best and a combustion cchamber is good to have. drafting dynamics have to be applied aswell. I would suggest that u use stephenson valve gear with a single 2" bore 3-3/4" stroke cylinder. Btw do teardrop screw regulator, because it might tend to open too quiklly

  • that makes sense

what type of welding do you recomend?

i was thinking that regular brazing the copper would do it

but i can also MIG weld copper

    plus i got a lathe

  • Yes Silver soldering copper will work, but if the boiler is to be 6" or more in diameter and to run 120psi or more then steal is better but with copper flues for efficient heat transfer

  • thats the only loco for the whole train? shit......do u guys use like dcc or some type of digital control with g scale? very cool vids btw man

  • No like I said before there are 44 other engines on the train. No, all the engines are battery powered ( the railroad is too big for track power) with locolink receivers. We M.U. the units so that it is 2 engines to every engineer.

  • i see

  • that's absolute bull crap! that's not connected to the big boy!

  • There are 44 other deisel engines in the train!!!! The big boy is only on front because USA wanted to promote their immage and that engine so they gave us the first ine they made. Behind it are 30 cars that all have big USA trains logos on them. When we are done that engine will go back to their headcorters in NY and be on display in a diarrama that Rick also made.

  • Understood, sorry K?

  • what part of new york??

  • thats a model train of what was nicknamed the big boy [worlds largest train] real info

  • I know- The Union Pacific 4000 class. 4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement, 132ft long, 135,000 lbs of tractive effort, 68 in drivers etc.

  • Did you run it?

  • Not yet but the next attempt is in March.

  • Do you think we can actually break this record? G-Scalers from America so need this record break. Small scale modelers mock us for not being able to do long trains :o

  • Who is we? Do I know you? And yes, there is a wire that rick did not know about for 8 years that makes the engines run perfectly together so we should be able to do it but you never know. A what are you talking about I run trains with 4 engines and a hundred cars.
