These Afghan men, oldest 92, and boys, as young as 12, who were neither Taliban nor Al Quaeda were not captured by U.S. & Coalition forces on battlefields. They were turned over to us by Afghans and Pakistanis for up to US$5000 per head (no evidence for why they were taken). 530+ of them have been freed; 180 still detained. Not terrorists.

So when you say " I don't think they were keeping him there for no reason." Wrong, most of them, are there for no reason. We hardly get any information from them, it's pointless.

Does everyone forget why these people are in these detention centres? I dont think they were keeping him there for no reason so chances are he was a dirty little terrorist. What about the rights of those who have been killed in london (7/7) or the WTC(9/11)? Its better that he killed himself in there than doing a suicide bombing somewhere and takiing a shit load of innocents with him. splinter, he didnt say he wants to get out. he wants to go through a trail to prove his innocence. alot of these prisoners were picked up at airport or given by other countries without substancial evidance. they were not caught fighting. please open ur mind and stop watching fox news. wether proven guilty or not is up to the judge and evidance provided. mikey, who am i to know? i have seen a close friend being deported only he was told after wards that they didnt have any evidance against him. if you act uncivilised like terroirist than theres no need to go around spreading freedom beccause theres no difference between us and them. yes alot of detainees were picked up at the airports or turned in by political rivals. i have no sympathy for terrorists but we have to differenciate.

Guantanamo bay is wrong and no humane person can deny that! As far as I'm concerned the US have no right to hold these innocent people in a detention centre regardless of the torture which I find all too easy to believe is going on there. I call these people inocent because that is exactly what they are; the US have failed to convict these people of any crimes yet for some reason justify imprisoning them for over 6 years. It is a disgrace and it pains me how so many people can't see that.

How do you prove something is inexistent? It is accepted 'a priori' and the onus for proof rests with the person making the claim. If I say I can walk on water, to be credible I must prove the case.

You are just as much of a believer as the faithful. You essentially believe in "no" God just as much as a believer is sure there is a God. The chief problem with your argument is that if god does not reveal himself directly, how do we know any of the religions are his divine word? They're all equally (in)valid.
Muslims claim their book, which is a bastardization of Judaism and Christianity, is his true word. While every other religion makes similar claims.
When you examine these texts due to their self-evident stupidity and insanity, they demonstrate they're of human (not divine) origin. Sadly millions have died over these myths.

Actually the majority of the Gitmo detainees were not "captured" on the battlefield but were instead turned in thanks to huge (by Afghani standards)rewards being paid by the US. There is going to be very little evidence that any of these men had more contact w/Al-Q or the Taliban than most average Americans have with Chamber of Commerce.
