  • Wow..this is what lots of other people say.."I can understand lots of languages!"It would be cool if you would made videos to prove your skills no?:D

  • You should learn Arabic, it's really nice. You'll love it sis:)

  • This is a great story! Cool video :)

  • What about Russian language? I think it's one of the most difficult language. Russian is like 3 language in 1, aaaand if you sooo polyglot try to learn this language

  • Unfortunately most people aren't bilingual when it comes to love! You only truly have one. Glad you read it.

  • @appassets I will have to agree to disagree on that. I do believe we have a love language that dominates all of the others however I think it's very common that we have others or maybe even one other that comes close to the dominant love language. I also believe that at different times in our lives our love languages can change in dominance...thanks for bringing this up..I'll add it to my book review list :)

  • Ok. For a person whom picks up languages so easily what is your love language? This question comes from the popular book the 5 love languages.

  • @appassets I have more than one but quality time is definitly one of them

  • Thank you for uploading this video. I really appreciate it, it was definitely inspirational!

  • Is Korean similar to Japanese?

  • @flipo25rid no its different but not very..

  • I do plan on starting Italian again one day...

  • Here in Australia we have a different sign language (we call it Auslan). I don't know why English doesn't just have one for its own. does Canada use ASL?

So I used to learn Italian. I learned Italian because I play the piano. in music script, many Italian words & phrases are used. Then Italian class at school was cancelled because not enough people chose it

Then about a year ago I started Korean. I've always known many Koreans and their culture has always interested me. Im going there this year!

  • have you ever considered learning arabic?

  • i dont know if i appreciate this... we share very similar stories. i got a little freakd out lol for me i use spanish often cuz i attend a spanish congregation for bible study and thus hang out with hispanic persons who are from all over mexico and other spanish speaking countries. grew up with them.

  • I want to be a polyglot! That is like a dream for me right now. Some languages are so just beautiful and entertaining. I would like to say that I want to speak many fluently but fluency only consists of being able to speak with out many pauses and I guess I want to basically know them inside and out. ^^

  • When you said Spanish was your "first," I giggled :D

    Saucy!

  • languages are awesome! im from kenya and trilingual but i also used to speak fluent Punjabi when i was little cos of the school i went to but forgot cos i kept moving schools :( sad

  • parles tu français ?

  • Aaawww I feel all inspired. :P

  • you are wondaful !!! and intelligent !! respect from france haha :p

  • Im from the netherlands and most foreigners here are always amazed at the Dutch's language skills, Many speak Dutch, English and a third language or more. Mostly German and French.

I spreak and write Dutch, English and German. Im going to work on Korean soon.

  • Viva Mexico!!!

  • Beautiful Story... :) I was surrounded by Spanish speakers as well in Middle School... I started to understand it and, people said, a talent for it... :) But I didn't continue in High School... :/ Oh well... :/

    Learning Mandarin~! :)

    Cheers. <3

  • A lot of people say Spanish sounds like Korean, and it's very easy for Spanish speakers to learn Korean :)

  • @heartbreakeroxx

I don't think so. I think it gets easy to understand with the more rules you know from speaking other languages. I speak Spanish, Korean (and write Hangul), Italian and ASL. I have messed with other languages but didn't stick with them (Vietnamese, Tagalog, French, German, Japanese and Chinese (Mandarin). All that said, I just think some people have a hankering for picking up languages and others have to learn them before mastering one.

  • this is really cool. i am double majoring in linguistics and modern languages. i have a great passion for languages. i remember being really young and watching foreign films just to hear different languages. so far, i am fluent in english and spanish. i'm decent in french, learning italian and egyptian arabic, familiar with chinese and ASL, and yeah. i just really love languages. have you taken a linguistics course before?

  • German is Awesome!

  • This is awesome. Keep going!

  • Arabic is a beautiful language.,,لازم تتعلميها :)

  • you speak fluent valley girl...

  • Cool, you proved beeing polyglot by speeking English the entire 15 minutes... Impressing

  • god did hear your prayer.

  • THis was GREAT !!!! Thank you for the Enlightnment and Encougement :)

  • You're the first polyglot I've ever heard who only speaks one language, namely English.

  • Praise the Lord for your language gift. I guess I gotta pray more to learn. :)

  • @aulasdejapones I don't know if anyone has told you but God is not real

  • @7markosmezza7: Well, that's your opinion but I have the right to believe in God and have seen his work in my life. Rather than religion I have a personal relationship with God that gives me joy and fulfillment. Have a great day!!

  • @levinjapan Ok keep living in your dream world...let me know when you realize the truth.

  • @7markosmezza7: Dream in my opinion is to deny that there is a creator for both the universe and human beings, who were created with such perfection. I really admire people who believe in the big bang or that humans evolved from an inferior beings because that requires more faith than to believe there is a God. By the way, what is the truth in your opinion?

  • @levinjapan Well since you asked, I believe that the truth is realizing that God is just something that was created by humans to cope with the fact that no one knows why we are here. I believe that no matter what anyone does there will always be people doing good and there will always be people doing evil. Religion forces people to either believe in a God that never shows himself or "burn in hell". There is more to it but 500 characters is not enough to explain.

  • @7markosmezza7: Thanks for sharing your vision on the truth but according to the Holy Bible the truth us that Jesus came to earth, died and resurrected, which makes christianity (not as religion but as way of life) the only faith system that believe in a God that IS ALIVE, rather than religions that had good leaders with good values who died and couldn't save themselves, let alone their followers. Nobody is forced to believe in God and going to hell is conscious choice that many people make.

  • @levinjapan I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.

  • @7markosmezza7: I'm not an atheist because I don't deny or ignore the existence of gods or God. I just wouldn't trust in gods that couldn't save themselves or can't save me. I don't despise other religions or faiths but couldn't believe in any other God than Jesus. The reason for that is that HE IS alive.

  • we're so similar... I love learning about other cultures and languages. I speak and write three languages (Amharic, English, and Spanish) and can read and write Korean as well as say the basic words. The challenge, as you mentioned, is keeping the languages separate in my conscience. :D

  • lolz, Every language has a grammar and most native speakers of it don't know because they don't worry about studying their own language. Try asking a Dutch speaker when they are supposed to use "De" or "Het" and if you get a plausible language, please tell me because I ask this to every dutch speaker since I started learning it a year ago. Also if you speak language consider yourself half-way walked to learn Portuguese, they are similar, at least writing.

  • @MatheusLebrao Correcting myself, if you get a plausible ANSWER, then you tell me lolz

  • @MatheusLebrao Correcting myself again, if you speak SPANISH then consider yourself...

TIP: Don't write while someone keeps saying "language" on your ear.

  • @MatheusLebrao,you use 'DE' for all masculine as well as feminine nouns and the nouns that cant be defined under these two categories are usually "HET",for example "the man" is "de man" but "the house" is "het huis",because you cant define this word as masculine nor feminine. And another thing, many Dutch words have "shortened" forms, like: boekje: the little book, meisje: the little girl..All of these words get one definite article, which is "het".Practice more, and you will excel in it,cheers.

  • @gambitrheon REALLY THANKS! I met many dutch ppl who simply couldn't give me an explanation!

About the thing of "can't define if it's masculine or feminine" it's still gonna be hard for me because in Portuguese every noun CAN be defined so it's hard for me to think of a word and not know if it's masculine or feminine :S BTW Dutch is really really hard, and Brazil isn't place for a multi-cultural person, 'cause simply there isn't resources for learning languages (other than English and Spanish).

  • @gambitrheon About the diminutives, I already knew. My Belgian friend could tell me that :)

  • i can speak english spanish dine bizaad(nativ american language) some hebrew and some arabic i want to learn how to speak mre langages i just love it

    !

  • your hotness make its difficult for me to listen i just want to kiss you

  • i wish i had spanish or japanese speaking friends so i could pick up- some of it :(

  • hahaa love it! i am going to be praying to the Lord that I get the same gift :p! aprendi espanol en la misma manera, estoy aprendiendo la lengua de senas americano, el arabe, el persa y el frances tambien! el coreano me parecio hermoso y me has inspirado para anadirlo a mi lista de lenguas para aprender. Pero, como decias, voy a centrar en mi idioma favorito - y para mi lo mas dificil - el arabe.

  • Learn polish ;) so you can read this: ladna dziewczyna z ciebie :)

  • masz racje!

  • That's the only "polygot" video I have seen where the person speaks only one language during the whole video.

I would have like to hear how good your spanish or korean is.

  • I am the same way. I know spanish but am shy when it comes to speaking it mainly because like you, i feel i will say it wrong lol. I tried learning Mandarin but put that on hold. I can understand Italian, Yiddish and some German and am learning sign language and french at the moment. I love sign language, it is very beautiful :-)

  • You can learn German or FRench! It will be not so difficult for you bicause you can and(F) Spanish and(G) English! It is not so big difference between doose Languages!I am sorry bicause my English I learning now! M

  • You inspire me. :) I'm learning Japanese. I really recommend trying to pick it up again. I haven't listened to Korean as much as I would like to (I'm afraid of mixing my Japanese with it! haha) but maybe if you give it another shot, it would be good.

  • how many languages do you have to speak to be considered a polyglot?

  • @TheRockoff23 i explained it to someone here in a cooment not long ago...the other subscriber was Aldea something lol if you wanna read it

  • @charlycheer ok thank you

  • @TheRockoff23

2 or more is bilingual, 3 or more is polyglot, 6 or more is hyperpolyglot

  • @TheRockoff23 i think a polyglot speaks 5 languages or more because poly means 5 like polygon 5 sides.

  • @JeSuisDan no, a pentagon has five sides, poly= more than 2

  • @eggertstwart oops,my bad...Well you inspire me to become a polyglot and I think you are amazing :)

  • @JeSuisDan ...no problem

  • @JeSuisDan poly can also mean "many" which is the sense meant in polyglot. If you know biology, think of the term polymer (as opposed to monomer, dinomer, or trinomer). It comes from the same etymological root (Greek i believe) and it doesn't mean five, it just means several. As for polygon, it doesn't mean five sides, it means semantically any plane that is fully enclosed by side/s. I think you were thinking of pentagon, or pentagram. Pent- or Penta- is the Greek root for five!

  • @TheRockoff23 if you speak 4 languages or more you can be considered a polyglot.

  • @TheRockoff23 In my opinionthree or more languages is considered a polyglot because poly, from a mathematical perspective, means three or more. Although you can argue that two or more is a polyglot. Nonetheless, two or more languages is definitely an accomplishment.

  • Hi Charly,

You are amazing. I'm exactly like you, I wanna be a polyglot, and I'm learning mandarin Chinese. Congratulations, you're nothing but outstanding. :))

  • @Alanoueslati aww thanks :) keep learning!

  • Hi Charly! It looks like you are trilingual or quadrilingual (a polyglot speaks more languages)...

  • @AldeaPeruana If you look it up, there are different numbers but here is a general things that I get most of the time. The term polyglot has several definitions. "The term traditionally applies to a person who can both speak and write at least three languages with great fluency." I Know 4 languages and amworking on my 5th. By the end of the year I should be at a decent fluency in the new language...A hyper polyglot speaks more langs. A hyperpolyglot speaks 6+

  • @charlycheer There's no such thing as "hyperpolyglot". Such a word doesn't exist.

  • @ProfMiddleEarth nice to meet you :D

  • nice vid... like this vid so much ^^ how is your Korean comeing along now?

  • @LaurenzoFang it's going very well thanks! I'm learning a good amount each day :)

  • I learned Spanish when I was little, but never comprehended its importance back then, it was just for fun at the time so I lost it all until I took it again when I was a freshman in highschool. I'm a junior now and I've been taking Mandarin classes (I'm taking them again next year too(: ) but I've been trying to self teach myself Korean and Japanese. The sentence structure is what kills me when learning Asian languages, but I'd love to travel there one day (: Russian is hella cool too

  • FINALLY!

    I finally found a polyglot that ISN'T a man! :D

  • @dabubbsta1 hahahaha that's hilarious! ...but true because I found that many polyglots on youtube are men haha good analysis

  • @dabubbsta1 My wife (katrudy7) speaks several languages!

  • @dabubbsta1 I would even say it's a woman! :D

  • We have a similar experience. When I was about 6 I prayed to God that He would bless me with the gift of languages and I'm now 18. I fluently speak Finnish, French, Korean, English (first language), and Cantonese. I am learning German and Farsi right now. I plan on moving to South Korea after college to be a teacher too. Watching your videos make me want to go even more! xx (:

  • Only recently I discovered how much I love learning languages and how much I appreciate that Iwas brought up two completely different cultures, and thanks to that I can fluently speak/read/write English and Urdu(mix of Arabic, Persian and Turkish). I've learnt French, Spanish, Turkish, Mandarin and am now learning Arabic, at the age of 17 :P And am hoping to learn Korean and Japanese in the next few years, i love your videos because you've inspired me to carry on with what I enjoy,God Bless :)

  • @RyuzakidotFeraligatr wow thats a heafty amount of languages..I would like to learn Arabic :) maybe after I start learning Korean Sign Language :) keep it up!!

  • how about arabic? it's used pretty much everywhere, you'll find pockets of people who speak it

  • @arigatokai yeah Arabic would be a language I'd want to learn too

  • .

Ah, so your faith in the Tooth Fairy is wavering, huh?..

  • Tenerife, Spain.

Do you REALLY still believe in Father Christmas?!

  • @Solstisol who? lol...are u talking about God, Jesus Christ or Santa Clause?? ahaa and yes I believe in all 3 :)

  • my high school German teacher was a polyglot. I always thought he was overqualified to be a teacher but he was an inspiring and an amazing 2nd language teacher.

He knew French, German, Spanish, Hungarian and Russian fluently. He said he also knew how to speak some italian and polish.

I always remember him carrying around some grammar or language book to read. always found it strange at the time but now i think about it he really was passionate about language.

  • @yellowman88 he also said that if you learn a language for over 7 years. The chance of remembering it long term is very high. He also said that practicing it is also equally as important. I can't imagine what he does to maintain all those different languages. I just remember him speaking French, Spanish and Italian with all our foreign language teachers. At the time i was memorized because most foreign language teachers only know 2 languages tops.

  • @yellowman88 those kinds of people are very inspiring

  • oh forgot to mention i started learning mandarin first. I Think ill learn korean sign language next. I always see the signers at the corners of the screen during korean news.

About your prayer, an African pastor is able to preach in Kreyol the same way.

  • @TatieMimosa wow!

  • Part 2/2 After watching Taiwanes, Japanese, and Korean shows; Korean sorta got more pleasant to my ears. So i put it on my list of languages to learn. I ended up writing for blogs after blogs and now im learning all sorts of things about Korea. And I have met all kinds of people from around the world. Most dont even speak korean but thats how we met. My sister uses ASL for Dance Team at church. Even without knowing ASL i have been able to communicate with deaf people many times.

  • Part 1/2 Wow our stories are pretty similar. I love learning languages and aim to be fleunt in atleast 8. Yay polyglot!! Thanks to my parents i speak Kreyol and French. Learned spanish through friends and took some classes. I started learning Korean in 09 after watching kdramas and listening to kpop since 08. During the writers strike I was just channel surfing for some telenovelas, when i found an all asian channel. I recognized BoA because A friend of mine loves jpop, and BoA's US debut.

  • To Me Iam More Into Learning Japanese but I got repect for All Lauguages THo

  • I can learn languages pretty quick too. I started learning Spanish two summers ago and I'm already pretty good. I've been learning French for 4 or 5 years and my French is not so good anymore but I can pretty much understand most of it, my speaking is just terrible. I've been learning Korean for half a year now and I can understand a lot of words in dramas, songs, etc. Also learning how to read Korean was really easy lol. I hope to learn Japanese in the future :) I love learning languages :D

  • wow when i was growing up 95% of my friends were Hispanic until i got into...maybe 3rd grade then we moved around i started hanging out with mostly white people and Hispanic people lol i even watching novellas when i was little it wasn't until high school when i took Spanish that i realized "wow I'm pretty good" lol then i took sign language and picked up on that so fast i actually wanted to be a sign language interpreter until i stumbled upon Korean and feel in love with the language lol

  • @sparkle2010 but i soooo understand what you mean i have a passion for Spanish and Korean even though i haven't spoken it (Spanish) in so long that my skills are slipping lol

  • @sparkle2010 i forgot to mention that I watched novelas too

  • @charlycheer lol those were my favorite growing up i'd go to my friends house to play and their moms would be watching them so i'd end up watching them lol

  • Lol no way I so prayed that when I was younger lol! I'm still not a 100% in German.

  • God answers prayers!! wow great story..you know I know some Sign language also, some Spanish from high school now I'm learning Korean!....I actually thought it was hard learning the alphabet so I started with phrases...maybe I'll go back, pray and go slow...I think we have a lot in common actually!

  • ...God answers prayers..

  • UMMM I learned something...Polyglot! (never heard of this) lol

  • i just took a spanish test earlier. fue muy dificil xP!!!. and it was cool how that guy came back and apologized if he discouraged you. i found that amazing

  • Oh yeah, and I love how you have a Christian outlook on everything =)

I go to church 3 times a week so I'm happy I found someone on youtube with a lot of the same intrests as me =D

  • I want to learn Japanese so bad.

I want to get a degree in it when I'm in college.

  • I know what you mean. You didn't contradict yourself. Speaking 100% well and being at your best are two totally different things. Yea, Hangug-eo is fairly easy to read and write. I just started 3 days ago and I can read sentences at an "okay" level. The hard part is building vocabulary.

Welcome to the fold. At the intermediate (at least) I speak Arabic, Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese...and I'm learning Korean, and French. I can understand a handful of other languages but I don't speak them.

  • I speak somali which borrowed a heck load of words from Arabic, so I would love to do it aswell. Took an Arabic class but dropped it for Spanish cause sadly the teacher was bad. I did French for 5 years so I found the spanish accent so damn difficult but I'm getting used to it now, and it's actually wayyyy easier than French in my opinion. And yeah I really like korean to, and I've noticed that it sounds kinda spanishy too and seeing as I've only been watching Korean dramas for 6 months I was

  • I knew Kikuyu fluently when I was little but lost it. I'm probably gonna go back after college to Kenya to relearn it. I took Italian for a couple of years in highschool and a little in college and a spanish course in highschool. Now as of late I'm learning Japanese. It's been pretty easy (with studying) but I tend to forget how to correctly spell some words. In the future I'd like to learn swahili and as of recently korean and maybe ASL. Great video!

  • Do you have a Korean name? :)

    대단한 거 같아요!

  • I love languages, too! I minored in Japanese in college and have been studying Swedish since I graduated. Now, I'm learning Korean in preparation for a job there. I also took Spanish in high school, but have really started to appreciate it recently. I tried to learn Hindi and ASL too, but never made it very far. That's my language story, lol.

  • school got too hectic so I couldn't concentrate on it. I'm also going to continue with Chinese before i forget everything and take up Italian again as now I actually want to learn it.

  • I went to a language high school so I has to study 2 languages, French and Italian I hated doing it. I carried on doing french as my course in uni requires a language but i still hate learning french so sadly I will never really be any good at it. When I studied abroad for a yr in America I took up Mandarin in my 2nd semester and LOVED IT! I kept being told how hard it was but i found it so easy. After Im done with uni this year i'm going be more consistent with Korean...(cont.)
