  • Hey! where and HOW did you learn this song!? Ive been wanting to play this for a long time!

  • Wow, you are gorgeous! (and very talented)

  • Funny.

    There's a boy passing with a shirt where's written the number 14.

Bach believed in pythagoric numerology, and liked in special the number 14, that is the sum of the letters of his name (B+A+C+H = 2+1+3+8).

I don't know how old are you now Mary, but it's taking me 3 years to learn this piece!

Anyway, you did very well! Why don't you repost this piece now that you're more experienced (i suppose)?

  • hi, very nice performance, ... and by the way, I love to see you running to that organ. :) good luck.

  • Graceful encounter with the bench :D

  • Sorry, the sound and video aren't in sync with each other. My mistake. Good playing.

  • muy bien perfect

  • I'm not saying it's bad. I really think it was a good performance.

But the sound of the organ always makes my head ache :( I don't really know why... it's just... it sounds like a thousand screaming angels to me...

I guess I'll just stick to the piano. But a VERY LOVELY PERFORMANCE INDEED.

  • I like this song, but sorry to say, I don't believe this is real. The reason why is that when whoever's playing the organ's fingers, the sound is out of sync, and it doesn't seem that the tempo is right with what it seems. It may just be me or my quality. If it is real, sorry for posting this and very good job to you.

  • @brady2016 How can you say this isn't real?!? Take a look at about 2:50...she messes up and struggles through and it takes her two or three times to get it right....you can't expect someone to fake that?!?

  • any woman that plays the organ is 50% sexier... im just saying

  • Good job im studying fugues in music theory

  • Awesome! You rule!

  • Lol the entrance was funny how you slided in on the bench. Don't you feel like you want to play it faster in this video?

  • My greatest appreciation for your effort, if I had even the smallest amount of talent in comparison to you I would be very happy. Due to a wrist injury I was unable to keep playing. Now that left hand on mine will not even try to listen to me. I did see that stumble in the playing though, it is so hard to transition into that next set and it would have made me jump for joy if you had nailed it. We are all human though, beautiful music. All my best! I learned music at 16, played in a church once.

  • This would be that much more incredible if you added a bit more of sway from note to note.

  • Wow Mary is very talented!! I have seen lots of people rush this piece, she does a very good job of restraining herself

  • what a superb performance!! congratulations and keep up the good work!

  • Excellent. Thanks for sharing.

  • Is it hard to do the actual fugue part with your left and right hands..

    It's confusing tbh

  • Kick ass job, Mary!

  • The best version on YouTube, Ms. Copeley. Very well done. I have added this to my favorites. Thank you for sharing.

  • That's the way, that's how this piece should be played!

Great performance, wonderful, sweet and solemn how it should be.

...just some reeds more in stops, sounds is a bit weak... ;-)

  • great job playing a great piece! i recently learned the fugue of bwv 565 (toccata and fugue in d minor) i'm going to try to learn this as soon as i can too.

  • i just want to learn the song.

  • did you fall on that chair!?

I'm sorry but it made me laugh. XD You play very beautifully, by the way!!! I love this song, so much.

  • I think that Johann Sebastian Bach would have been very pleased with this performance, especially played so well by someone so young. It is just like he himself said:

"All you have to do is hit the right key at the right time, and the instrument plays itself."

  • Mary, keep up the good work and hard study! 2.47 is a very tricky pedal and hand combination. I think if you just practice it really slowly it will straighten out. I like the fact that you don't play it too fast, as many virtuosi do.

    You play beautifully.

    sanjosemike

  • I love this tune. One of my favorite pieces. (Although that may be bias since it was used as the final boss theme in Megaman Legends, one of my favorite video games.)

Nonetheless, excellent work. Good execution of a good piece equal an excellent experience for the listeners, and you have pulled this off quite well. 5 stars.

  • good game

  • AWESOME

  • I love this! All my friends think I'm crazy for liking classical music.. (I'm only 20).. Oh, wow. Mary, keep rockin those organs! love to hear more from you and this era!

  • haha thanks man! oh i will, for sure :)

and yeah ppl think we're crazy, but classical music is seriously so awesome.... especially stuff from this era.

  • Yeah! One of my college classes is Music Appriciation, and we just got done with the Baroque period. Now we're on to Classical! Love this stuff.

  • @Tuttiplaya if it aint baroque don't fix it!

  • I'm only 15 and I LOVE~ it! It's so inspiring

  • heyy awesome, i think i was 15 when i learned this!!

  • Same i have just finished learning it.

  • @Tuttiplaya The next song you learn should be Bach toccata and fugue in D minor. I think I started to teach myself that when I was in around 5th grade, so I must have been like 12 or so. So I know being your older then that you could do it no problem and do it amazingly =].

  • Same here, im 15 and love baroque music!

  • @danforth911 ... Its technically Baroque music :)

  • Gotta love the Little Fugue... and her great style at the bench :P

  • Very nice, Mary.

I prefer a Cromorne 8' in the pedal , myself

  • Thank you! This organ doesn't have an 8' Cromorne in the ped, but I would probably register it differently now than i did then (a couple years ago). by the way, thank you for posting Transports de joie on your profile! its a great recording of it. I'm currently working on that piece.

  • OMG I really adore the way, you took your seat XD

  • i still love how your father brought this up at dinner LOL

  • what did he say?

  • how everybody was talking about you getting on the bench lol

  • oh.. haha ok.

  • Very nice, well ,articulated and sensitive playing

  • ???? 0:26 who the fuck is that guy

  • how do u learn to play the organ? is their lessons??

  • yep, i take lessons.

  • That was beautiful! you are very talented, please don't stop playing!

    Greetings from Chile =)

  • Tutti, That was wonderful, and my favorite Bach piece. I love to hear it on a pipe organ as it should be played. Thank you!

Six kids I have and none of them sing or play......sad, huh? And I come from a long line of musicians....

  • thanks!! aww haha... well everyone has different gifts to share!

  • have them tought.

  • don't force the music onto them... if anything sneak it into them. leave an old guitar or something laying around the house, you never know, one of them might think it's kinda cool...

  • i wonder what he was thinking when he composed this. like, what did he picture in his head?

  • It would surely be interestuing to have even a glimpse..

  • this is my favourite piece by bach and it was played perfectly (atleast by my ears xD) im not a pianist but this is great keep it up :P

  • Hi there. just wanted to say that was very well played.lovely touches, trills and you balanced very well the harmonics of bach. i love this piece, play it myself. incedentely, the organ sounds great, and sorry but the entrance was comical, me found that funny. for me personally, bach's little fugue is a true representation of his organ works. keep up the good work.well done

  • thanks!!

  • 0:03. Dat ass.

  • rofl

  • LOL

    you jumped on the seat

    nice playing btw

    you'r very good

  • i guess i was just excited to get started or something.. hehe. thanks.

  • try the 1600's numnutz

  • 1600's, sorry, got the wrong century :P

  • *****

  • "Are you ready?"

    "How about this?!"

    "Prepare yourself!"

  • really nice... consider a heftier pedal registration

  • thanks. yeah, i agree... i made this like 2 years ago, and my camera didn't pick up the base too well.

  • wow really good..

  • Sounds like a new davy jones theme eh?

  • omg ur totally like the best organ player i've evr heard in my life. like no joke!

  • thats from megaman

  • it was composed in the 1800's. I doubt it was made for megaman.

  • it is because i looked at the credits and it was by Bach and i listen to it again

  • what? Bach wasn't even around when megaman was made, he died a few hundred years ago

  • they but that recording in that game. just type megaman legends juno at you tube.

  • It's a prayer.

    Treat it like one.

  • I think it's generally agreed that this is a secular piece.

  • excellent interpretation.

  • lol not very lady like getting over the bench lol

  • very nizeyl done

did u do it from memory because it look like it was played like bach himself

  • very nicely done. i really enjoyed your registration choices too. :)

  • Yeah! They're perfect!

  • I heard this a long time ago in music class and fell in love with it. I've heard many different people play it and I must say that your version is the second best I've EVER heard...you are very good and should be very proud. It may sound odd, but I'm proud of you. :-)

  • thank you so much!!

do you know the name of the performer who is the best you've ever heard?

  • I've never heard anyone play it better than when I heard it on CD, but you're the best I've seen/heard on video or live. Oh, and you're welcome.

  • I Love Buch and you make me cry.

    i wish i could play a real organ,but i have never seen one and i don't..... ,sorry

    thanks for this great vdeo.

  • yeah... i firs hear this in a film with Mickey Rourke and love it !!!!!!

  • simply splendid! I also remember that this was on of the very first of Bach's works that I had heard more than 40 years ago, and I remember that it had made quite an impression on me, and it still does. Thank you. Quite an inspiration.

  • awesome!!! brought a tear to my eyes!!!

    wish i was that talented

  • Are you the lady in the camera? You have shown us wonderful work.:)

  • Beautifully played well done!!!

    5starz

  • very nice! keep up the good work ;P

  • I plan on listening to all your videos while I do work on the computer so keep making them...you are my "angel of music" hahaa...I also applaude your entrance

  • ROFL love the entrence :) Honestly id enter the same way, if i could play. :( /cry

  • awesome job, btw on my score i have an upper mordant in the first measure but why people skip it?

  • thanks!

i dont have one on my score, but i do occasionally add one. idk, i never hear people play one either..

  • Terrific.

  • Love the entrance! lol =P

Beautiful! Stunning!.... Very majestic! Wow..... Love it! Keep it up! You're awesome! =D

  • I love the piece, and I love your performance. You look like a real relaxed player. Today I downloaded the score of this piece... I play piano. So I have to find a solution for that third stave. Is it hard to play that with your legs? I could practice on the organ in church...

    Thanks for your nice video!

    musicmarius

  • thank you! that means a lot.

hmm... what i do when i play organ pieces on the piano is i get my little brother to play the pedal part for me :p

but if you can practice on the organ in church, i say go for it!! the pedal part isn't too too difficult. if you're not used to playing organ though, i would say take the pedal part alone for a while and practice that slowly, then add the manuals :)

  • Nice entrance. ;)

Anyway, very well done! How long have you been playing?

  • thanks everyone! learned this after having played organ for about a year... now i've been playing for 3 1/2 years.

its funny, i'm finding every time i play this piece, its a little different. esp if i haven't played it in a while.

  • I like the tempo. Gives you time to digest the intricacies of this beautiful piece.

  • Hi there, that awakens memories in me. I myself used to play this beautiful piece by Bach. When I used to play this piece I played it at exactly the same speed as you. Anything faster just felt too rushed. Many recordings I listened to even maestros of the instrument change the tempo in Bach's pieces. I feel that changing the tempo like many maestros of the pipe organ seem to do, destroys the enjoyment aspect. Your tempo is regular throughout. Don't give up playing. You have a lot of talent!

  • Wow this is really good!! Your awesome.

  • Thank you! Even with the errors, this just feels like it's played right. One of the best on here. You seem to have a good understanding of how to make Bach sound like Bach ought to. Keep posting you work!

  • Very well done, especially since you had this memorized. When you get to the section in the middle where you have those isolated eighth notes in the right hand, you should separate those instead of slurring them. It makes it more bouncy that way and Bach would have wanted it like that. Just a little suggestion. I didn't have this piece learned until I was 19...so good for you.

  • Oh my god...how pleased I was to hear that. That´s the way Bach should be played. An excellent performance for a 17 year old girl. Thank you so much.

  • Like an angel tumbling down from heaven on to the bench. Must be. Because I completely enjoyed this. BRAVO!!!

  • I love the way you play such a great composer as the great master Bach was, it is not easy to master such pieces but I'm sure that you are in the right track. Just one request: can it be possible that the camera could focus on your pedal/footwork in a next video?- many of Bach's pieces use quite a bit of pedalling and it would be nice to see that part of your technique; I also wonder if you have ever tried playing it barefoot?- Thanks and keep posting your videos, I love them!!!

  • I actually have tried it barefoot!! haha... yeah, when i ask my little brother to tape me, he sometimes gets off track, so i dont usually do that. but when he does tape me, i ask him to get my feet. a good one to do that for would be the D major fugue. I'll re-record it soon, and ask someone to get at least the sick pedal solo at the end. thanks for your comment! :) cheers.

  • i would

  • would what?

  • what do you think? ;)

  • mmm, idk. but someone (not me) gave ur commnt a thumbs down... maybe your thoughts aren't very nice.

  • One word: wow

  • im in love!!! keep working!!!!! you play soooo well!!

  • The most beatiful and amazing organist of the world. Yes celestialproduct... nobody has ever played that as sexy as she do.

Now i love more your performing than Bach.

  • HAHAHAHAHA...

    thank you

  • Extraordinary! This is my favovite master piece! Too bad it's to difficult to play. I should have taken lesson organ istead of keyboard, maybe then I could have reached your level. :D well, keep up the good work!

  • Go back and practice until you get it right THEN post it,, the B flat entry in the Dev. was,,, well you know ,, otherwise sounded ok,re submit perhaps with some regristration,,,

  • what do you mean when you say "the B flat entry in the Dev. "

    and "perhaps with some registration"

    ??

  • Nice! 16 and already so good!

I'm about to record this piece myself (old skool synth style) and i'm looking at others playing it in order to get some new ideas.

  • Still played very well, while doing my music diploma I tried to choose peices that were no longer than 3 Minutes because I usually lost the will to live after playing for that length of time, anyway, unles you're a Bach fanatic the mistake is not that noticeable (ahem).

  • heyyy the bench is in a ditch, i cant help it! haha. thanks, though. :)

i just wish i knew how to edit it, because of the quite noticeable memory slip at 2:50....

  • Not the most lady like of camera entries, but you most certainly are a very gifted young woman, my favourite Bach piece and played very well, thank you for sharing this video.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahaha omg that's gotta be the funniest thing I've ever seen (the way you got on the bench, the playing was fabulous as always)

  • nobody has ever played that song as sexy as you do! lol

  • That's an interesting way to get on the bench. Lol

  • tehehe..

  • I <3 this with a thousand 3's

  • aww thank you soo much!

  • ha thanks :)

  • You're crazy-awesome, Mary. =O
