@ichamariska im 12 and i was hurting a lot the first day but i was in the hospital for that day and when i went home i made sure to stay on top of my pain medication it hurts from time to time but not majorly i had my surgery 4 days ago and @diago5100 im reall looking forward to that too :D
@ichamariska I'm 14 and I had bunion surgery a year ago it only hurts the first couple of days after. The best thing was getting out of gym at school!!
Wew... I was also thinking about having bunion surgery, but re-considering it again after watched the video and these comments. But, for truth, bunion does hurt.:"( Can it be fixed without any surgery? kinda afraid of surgery thing.
i had one of mine done. it was about the same size. im guessing they had to cut a section of bone out of your foot because of the size of your scar. I had a plate and 4 screws. I wasn't alowed to walk on it for two and a half months
your feetsies look fab..u poor thing having that since birth if I got that right?? well looks really good now. after the surgeries....take care..JoJo =))
JESUS CHRIST! O3O *spazzes* This is why I try to wear comfortable shoes or avoid doing things that make my feets all messed up because I can't go through surgery, I'll fucking spazz and pull shit out like a dumbass. T~T You sir, deserve a cookie.
I just got mine done, today is 1 month, but they put 2 screws in my foot. they did it completely different then yours. I have 2 cuts on the top if my foot and they had to lengthen my Achilles tendon. its not very pleasant and i still have 2 to 3 weeks left till i can start wearing my shoe again. What was the bar thing on the side of your foot?
Wow dude, intense. I tried the whole " healing yourself" bit with the special toe and foot things....made this sucker of mine get bigger. Now I have a bunion growing on top of the damn bunion growing out sideways. very painful man
Your house is a mess...LOL Just had to...but seriously, I have whats called a Tailors Bunion. It's the same as yours however mine is on the opposite side of my feet (have them on both). They hurt terribly and feels like they grow bigger every day! I made an appointment today with a podiatrist....wish me luck! lol Thanks for sharing...you were most helpful! xoxox
I feel so bad for ppl who have to get this surgery done, like my boyfriend hes got some pretty bad ones. He doesnt wanna get them done cause he doesnt like the recovery part.
How come they let you bleed like that? Obviously there was a larger vein/artery that was cut! Just wondering why they didn't cauterize it? also I noticed your toes - on both feet - were fused togethe! Did they mention about fixing those at the same time? Reason I ask is I had my feet operated on and my toes were like yours and they did everything at the same time - straightened them with rods! And IF you don't mind me asking, have you ever been told that you have a certain syndrome? We have!
@Nanamirose even though i was 12, surgery went fine. first week, miserable. I'm in walking casts now (: I'm glad I got the surgery, I would never get it again though!
@eringaga20 nah the left foot was easy only hurt when i did something stupid. my right foot hasnt been so lucky. its not healin right and is bein a little baby haha
My iPod won't let me reply to ur comment. So i went in today. And she said Bcuz my feet aren't done growing, surgery wouldn't be necessary yet. When they are done they will have to take another look. She showed me my xrays and she said something about a normal being a 10 and my right foot is a 14 and left is a 13. Which makes sense. Pain is mainly in the right. Occasionally left.
Oh boy that looks painful ! All the blood from the surgery. Now I'm scared :(( I have bunions on both feet. I'm only 14. I have it worse on my right foot though. My mom thinks its a good idea for me to get the surgery so i can keep playing sports. I can't wear normal shoes either (doctor says) I have to wear slippers. I'm going to see an orthopedic surgeon soon.... I'm really scared after seeing ur surgery !!!
@baabffl237 haha my surgery was as extreme as it gets so i don't think you got much to worry about. i just had my right foot done a couple weeks ago. it's super easy compared to the one in this video. but since i'm real sick right now it actually hurt alot more haha
@Big1531Lefty wow ! that's terrible ! how long are you gonna be in a boot for ? and when can you wear normal shoes again ? i wanna know everything so i can be prepared for whats to come if i get the surgery.
@baabffl237 i'm in the boot until this coming saturday. so exactly one month. then i'm just gonna wear normal shoes till all the swelling is down enough get some custom ones molded to my foot. i was just cleared to walk today but i've been walking on it for a week and a half. so really it's not too bad. just make sure you're completely done growing before you have surgery
I have to bunion surgery two months from now! Did they place pins in your feet? They have to in mine. I'm very nervous for it. Do you have any advise? My Bunions aren't as yours but their on both sides of my feet and I'm only 14!!!
@00minnetonka i just had surgey on the 2nd of this month. my first bunion surgery i had was january 2010 and i had disolvable pins in that foot they disolve i 6 months but was healed way sooner than that. the surgury i had on the 2nd of december2010 i had a different doctor and now have a titanium screw in the bone. i used crutches the first 2 days after. i took only one tylenol 3 and naproxen that day and only half of each the next and i havent had any since.
@00minnetonka the only thing that is bugging me is the gauze is rubbing on my stitches and the bruise other than that im in no pain. my foot gets sore and tired if i walk or stand too much but not any real pain
oh god, and i thought mine were painfull....which they were. yours look VERY painfull. I had doube bunion surgery when i was 13, now 26 and thinking of having it done again. What are those metal things on your foot???
@swedecutter , I'm still in high school and I had a bunionectomy on my left foot a month ago. my doctor says i still have another month in a hard cast and then I'll be in a walking cast for a month, so that's not too bad, but the recovery can vary on age and severity. You just have to follow the rules and hope for best.
I'm also starting to think there's a link between b-ball and bunions! the dr said i could play again this upcoming season, but i think i'd much rather get my other foot done!
@Nanamirose damn a hard cast?? that sucks!! haha i'm glad i have one of the best doctors west of the mississippi haha. i was outta my boot and back to work by 2 months. you have the external fixator or no?
@Big1531Lefty 2 months? only 2 months?? god, i wish i was that lucky! my feet aren't even as bad as yours were! i didn't have the external fixator, just 2 internal pins to keep the bone in place. it's good to know that there was someone else my age who had this kind of surgery; most of my doctor's patients are old geriatrics :c but at least all of the best doctors are East of the mississippi! ;p
@Nanamirose haha =] yeah i'm havin my right foot done this fall. should be a blast. haha so you play ball? i went to buy some shoes in january and size 11 fit my left foot so perfectly but was to tight on my right. so i just went with 12's haha i could still get rim after surgery too but its so hard to build the muscle back
@Nanamirose oh and all that about you havin the best doctors is SOOOOO not true haha. i'd say its pretty even. though i do like the east coast a little more than over here in idaho.
@Big1531Lefty yeah, the east coast is pretty sweet, i won't lie!
and yeah, i play ball, but not as much as i used to, mostly because of the feet :/
it must have been exciting to go get those new shoes, even if you are a guy. i think that's what i relish most: getting amazing, cute, perfectly fitting shoes. it may seem really girly, but i just can't wait!
so you say it takes a long time to build muscle again. how long did it take to walk or run normally? i don't want to lose all my summer!
@Big1531Lefty P.S. good luck with the 2nd surgery!!! I'm (hopefully) getting my right foot done around the same time, or more into winter probably. It sucks that you'll be getting it done right as b-ball season starts..
My left foot was done 6 months ago is now nearly pain free and looks fantastic. The right foot was done 3 weeks ago and is feeling a little better each day. I am still in the hospital shoe and Kpins are still in my smaller toes. I get the pins out next week. Get a good podiatric surgeon (foot specialists). Avoid the butchers who just want to cut off a bit of the bunion bone as this is only a short term fix.
@Big1531Lefty well my orthopedist wanted to wait as long as possible but my feet were in a lot of pain so he decided to go ahead with the surgery!
MsBellbug 5 days ago
I used to have bunions, but I got rid of them without surgery:
1. Got orthopedic inlays for my shoes
2. Only wear shoes with wide tips and flat heel
3. No more socks, only tabis/toe socks
4. Flip-flops as house shoes
5. Play with foot therapy ball whenever seated at desk
6. Sewed a thing consisting of two loops and a bit of padding that keeps my big toe and second toe apart when I lie in bed.
7. Stretch tendons in the soles of the feet by flexing the toes while massaging the sole.
:)
