No, I don't need multiple 15 round magazines. I picked up a CW40 a few weeks ago. Bought an extra mag too. Great carry gun. The only time it FTF is when I load it 6+1. The first round out of the mag hits the feeding ramp and gets stuck. Otherwise, if you just put the six round clip in it shoots just fine. Using Hornady critical defense 165 and PMC 165 FMJ FN. 300 rounds down the range. BTW, my Dad was threatened at GP by a carload of gang members in KC last year. It was EXACTLY like the movies.
@Theophilus1978 Hello , for the 6 in 1 to properly chamber. Kahr was not built to chamber the gun with the slide.Open lock the slide and you will never have that prob.
@Smokeyrust1 Yeah, I hear you. I actually read the manual when I bought it and I have always loaded it that way. However, the manual also said to make sure all of the rounds in the magazine are pushed back as far as they will go. This isn't true; if you push the top round in the mag back all the way it will catch on the one below it and nose dive. If the top round in the mag is pushed forward a hair it feeds just fine. Quirky little gun, but I like it. Definitely not a Glock.
Cool video. I've been stuck between a cw40 and a Ruger sr9c for ccw. I handled a cw40 the other day..wow..very compact, but only one six round magazine...might as well get a revolver I guess.
@Theophilus1978 CW9 and a couple of 7 or 8 round magazines....and just some food for thought.... for a private citizen with a desire to just defend himself while out doing whatever life has you do.... will you really need 17 rounds and multiple magazines...????? It's not like being a LEO and getting in a serious firefight....
@GunWebsites My reply was to Theophilus1978's comment that a Kahr only had a 6 round magazine and might as well get a revolver... I cannot imagine where your comments to me stemmed from... I mentioned nothing about good guy advantages... nothing about anything that I fear... perhaps you were responding to someone else and misread both comments at once and responded to me....
I have a Kahr K9 Elite and I love it! My only complaint is that it is a pain in the ass to break down for cleaning! Why did they make the little pin so hard to push through to break down the gun???? You actually have to use a small hammer or tool to knock out the pin and that is very annoying compared to most other guns like a Sig or even a Browning HP. Other than that, I love it and it is indeed a great carry weapon.
The first round into my new CW45 got jammed and I couldn't extract it after removing the magazine and trying the pull the slide to unload it. A phone call to Kahr got the usual diversion ..."try different ammo." So I went to the 'smith and the chamber was rough as if cut with a worn reamer. The gunsmith ran a reamer in the chamber to cut it smooth and now it works.
Don't trust any firearm .... most has some serious problem(s). It's a wonder it worked when Kahr test fired it!!
glocks have a tenefer finish.. wins hands down. closest hardness u can get to a diamond. why khar would i pay the same amount for an unknown named gun that doesnt have that finish or reputation? only an idiot would buy a khar over a glock.if it was a little less pricey for its quality i would buy one but why pay for a jetta when you can buy an Audi????
@piperboy350 why buy an Audi when you can have a classic fasbaback mustang ?
What I am saying is it all comes down to personal choices I won a Glock 19 a Kahr cw40 and a XD45 tactical , I love all 3 but each has a different purpose
Glocks are great but they aren't the easiest to conceal guns, kahrs just kinda disappear in light hot weather clothing, and there is no way in hell I am hiding my hog's leg of a 45 in any weather clothing.
@reignick1133 * own , my apologies, for the typo but as stated I love all 3 of mt striker fired pistols and wouldn't trade any of them for any price. also abut the tenefer finish , you can get that done to any firearm it's known as " melonite" finish the only difference in tenefer and melonite is the fact that tenifer uses arsenic salts in it's production, hence why the FDA has foced true melonite finish only here in the U.S.
@piperboy350 So if its not a Glock they the person is a idiot? I know guys I work with that have both and prefer the Khar and others the Glock. Khar isn't a unknown named brand they are well known and have a excellent track record. Glock ISN'T the only gun out there.
IM so sick and tired of if it aint Glock it aint shit crap all over the internet.
I hear the 40 has problems. Does anyone know if this is true? It's cheaper than the 9 which is weird to me. I am going to buy one of them this weekend and I can't decide.
Kahrs are made in my home town of Worcester Massachusetts...REPRESENT!!!!! get this, I spoke to a Kahr sales rep, and these guns cannot be sold in Massachusetts cause they don't have manual safety's. Go figure, they cannot be sold where they are made. this is why I moved to Virginia!!! liberal states like Mass, think they can live your life, better than you!!
@stevo642007 It would be nice to see Kahr up and move out of Mass. just for that reason. I think that if more and more gun manufacturers would ban together and not sell their products to law enforcement. You just might see some of these infringment states think twice about passing this kind of crap. I understand you have a bottom line but is it worth seeing people's freedoms being stripped away. Ronnie Barrett did that very thing to CA. When CA banned 50 cal rifles. He said no to CA's L.E. sales
@stevo642007 nice Idea, but you wont see any change statewide, or federal until the american people ban together, and take back this country. please I urge you, and all your friends to vote against all incumbents this NOV. throw all these bums out!!! Washington has failed America miserably. its time we get out of complacency and take action, its begins in NOV
Well, according to Kahr website, the CW series cost is pretty comparable to Glock's for example. Ofc, they had to sacrifice some of the features of the P models, like the Lothar Walther barrels.
@ConditionRedDawn After 45 years of purchasing firearms.. I have come to the conclusion that there is always a reason why one gun that appears to be the same as another is much more money... it is because they are better... having said that.... the CW series are more than affordable... a new cw9 can be had for $350. + shipping on many websites such as gunbrokerDOTcomor gunsamericaDOTcom Throw in a $25 transfer fee and the Kahr CW series is still a bargain... these guns are super...
God ive always been in love these little Kahrs LOL...my cw45 is so crisps and smooth...only thing i have against it is the really tight spring..but they are excellent...im so definately gettin a few more of them...
@PistoleroJesse different pull and they are slightly lighter...the kahr has one nice smooth trigger pull, while the Glock has a staged yet still light trigger pull. the trigger on these are a bit lighter than a glock...i own both a Glock 23 and a Kahr CW45 and i love them both to death...awesome guns
It's weird that the slim single stack 9mm pistols don't get the popularity like the .380s. The in guns like the LCP and such aren't really that much smaller than the slim sub compact 9mm
@dakine425 yea sure ur right man...i like the slim 9mms but i can see why they arent as popular. i would think its cuz they are smaller(not by much but i guess smaller is better LOL) but mainly cuz they dont use a ful size 9mm round(9mm=9x19 where as .380acp=9x17)thus reducing muzzle climb and making it a more controleable shooter...just my theory on that..but im cool with my bersa but i would like to have both a pocket 9 and a pocket 380
A beautiful collection of very high-quality guns. My personal favorite would be a PM9 with a thumb safety.
However, as Kel Tec improves their quality over time, if Kahr wants to maintain market share they might have to finally drop those high prices somewhat.
I plan on picking up a Kahr P9. Been thinking about it for a while now and I have decided to"pull the trigger"!

Hi there - great review! Is there a big difference between the recoil on the .45 ACP and 9 MM? Which do you prefer for CC?

@spiritartman
in a small pistol there would be more difference than in larger pistols
I prefer 9mm since they hold more

Mostly every gun is compared to a Glock when a review is done. Why? Because Glocks kick ass and everyone tries to show their gun is better.

What do you care if the 'good guy' has an advantage ??
Why would you assume what one might carry always needs to be used?
Why would you jump to such an outrageous assumption that one might need (or want) to use all their ammo in a "serious firefight"?
Seems like you get your ideas from movies, not from real facts
Perhaps you could cite ANY situation where what you fear has actually happened ..
