I reckon you are providing a great service and great support to your product. I was going to buy an Innovate LC-1 - but now i'm going with you guys. Job well done!
It all depends, there's so much that goes into tuning we can't just throw out a number for you. Go as lean as you can at idle that the engine will still maintain a consistent idle. At wide open throttle, you'll want AFR to be in the mid-12s *probably*. That said, you will make more power the leaner you go - but that works up to a point. Go check out the Ruckus forums for tips on tuning, it depends on the mods on the ruckus and the fuel you are running as to what you can do.
Hi Stephen - I have an 09 ruckus with Yoshimura exhaust. I'm getting ready to replace my stock carb with a bigger carb (Keihen PC20). I think that this gage will be really helpful for people like me who doesn't know how to do a plug chop. My questions is: How do you read the gage (AEM Wideband Analog)?
The higher the number, the leaner you are running. The lower the number, the richer you are running. Even though 14.7:1 is the optimal number for a gasoline engine, you do not want to be close to that number when you are accelerating. We'd suggest getting an AEM Wideband UEGO and installing it first since stock your Ruckus is gong to be tuned "safe" meaning lower numbers. Install the UEGO and get back to us what you see for AFR under different throttle conditions.
does the distance from the head from 02 sensor matter? running a 1g eclipse, should i put the wideband in the stock before the turbo location, or keep it where its at in the down pipe under the car?
@AEMonly Thanks, is there any sort of offset so i can compensate for the distance from the 02 to the head...since the o2 and rpm log {aem ems} dont jive completely. or is that something you just kind of have to compensate for on my own?
when you look at my log, lets say you are watching the load as the car comes on boost. if peak boost happens at 2m15s then you will see the corresponding a/f reading about a few seconds later on the log. it makes it very hard to tell if the car is lean on boost, or if you are seeing it lean out from letting out of it.... the afr spikes match the boost spikes in amplittude and duration, so it really looks like they correspond, the timing is just ever so slightly off between the two.
Send your log to Ed at AEM's tech support. Call them at 310-484-2322. From the sounds of it though you are maybe over thinking things though. There should be no delay, and we nor AEM tech support has ever heard of such a thing.
What kind of gauge is the one on the left? with the screen? Im thinking of installing a nokia N810 on my ruckus but the one you have on there is way cool reply please i want to know
so with all the red /pink wires all i need to do is just install them into an ignition source and not do it seperatly with the two red wires going to a constant 12v source and the pink going to the ignition?
nice vid...do u know if, lets just say u put a Carb/intake mod on your ruckus..then eventually the engine dies....can u still use the Carb/intake mod for another ruckus or it aint worth it?
Do you have to get this one or can you get the O2 sensor that has the color's Red yellow and green?

Stephan Please, make a video on installing a VW Golf 1.8T MY01.
I'm from Brazil, I not have expert help. I bought the AEM wideband digital and still not installed. Help me with a video. Thanks.

Where can I find the cup and mounting kit? I've looked all over and can't find one. Thanks!

@thecamlayton On the AEMonly site, go to the page for the wideband gauge and it's in the pulldown above the price.

@AEMonly Thanks. I was looking at a different AEM site.

Is the aem gauge in the video waterproof??. I use my bike in all weathers & feel I should be monitoring the afr on the bike a little bit more.

I installed a wideband air fuel ratio digial guage on my SYM VS125 modified scooter. What should my dial be reading at idle and power? Thanks

Does the air to fuel ratio gauge kit stay on the bike or is it only for testing then its removed? Can it be installed permenantly?
Thanks

We'd actually suggest this be permanently install this on *anything* with a carb.

I am not sure I understand your question, are you asking how to use the AFR when tuning your Ruckus?

yes.

Duckyistrippin 2 years ago
Put the O2 sensor AFTER the turbo, but before the cat. The pressure and heat between the head and the turbo will not be good for any O2 sensor.

What exactly do you mean by "don't jive"? What rate are you sampling for datalogging?

Depends on why the motor died. If it killed your engine would you want to use it again?
