Yeah, the drummer kinda made a mess of it. This piece needed someone with more finesse on the drummer's part. And I can't hear the bass for the most of it. It's too bad. I'd like to hear this done better.

This is an arrangement for jazz ensemble of the Sabre Dance from Khatchaturian's Gayne ballet. Very interesting, but it doesn't work. Vibraphones are generally used most effectively to add color to melodic lines played by other instruments and they have clear weaknesses as a solo instrument. For example, the player is unable to precisely control dynamics and articulation, a serious problem when playing the Sabre Dance's rapid repeated and heavily accented notes and chords. Thumbs down.
