I think anakin's turn to the darkside was inevitable because of the circumstances surrounding his life. Plus for reasons i cant explain, i believe it was the will of the FORCE. A good reason for this is no one would ever imagine a SITH LORD would fulfill JEDI PROPHECY by returning from the darkside. HENCE RETURN OF THE JEDI.

I understand the prohibitions of love in the Jedi. The thing that made me believe that Obi Wan could have been in love of Padme is the sudden hate of Anakin towards Obi Wan. It would have been more clear that Obi Wan fought with Anakin for personal reasons involving Love, besides of his duty of killing Anakin for becoming into the evil force.

And other thing that made me believe what I asked was, that Anakin, still being a Jedi, he proved that Jedis are somehow human and the need to love is within the natural human condition.

Therefore, It would not be a wonder if Obi Wan would have declared being in love too, even knowing that it was not allowed, just because Anakin proved so.

I see your standpoint on the matter. See he was raised his whole life to be emotionless but still after Qui-Gon died all he had left was Anakin. And he felt betrayed most likely when Anakin turned to the Dark Side and killed nearly all the Jedi. But Obi-Wan felt it was his duty to stop the Sith from ruling the galaxy. But still maybe deep down Obi-Wan didn't want Anakin to live as a Sith. But it is apparent he turned his back on Anakin when he left Anakin to burn to death.

We're both right, there's no matter. Emotions where the drive in the actions of these two characters, and it's what makes so interesting the Star Wars saga.

What it is so tasty for the obsessed fans (like me :) is the try to fill in those uncleared spaces of behaviour between each character.

So, I've got a conclusion that makes everything more clear: Obi Wan DID love Padme in a reticent way, but his love for Anakin as a brother and as a mentor was greater than the fight for a personal love reward, so Obi Wan stepped aside for Anakin to love Padme.

His dissapointment came when seeing Anakin turn into the Dark Side, like you said, and destroying the love of Padme. Obi Wan then drove himself to a lonely life, within the remembrance of a galaxy ruled by order and peace, and with a hurt, empty heart.

they didnt hate eachother, at the time of the 2nd movie anakin was obi-wans pupil, so he had to be strict with him. but in the 3rd one anakin was a full fledge jedi so they were friends

The way you started with Obi Wan remembering good Anakin from far away times - the dreamer child for far away galaxies, the pilot, the friend, the jedi hero, the lover,those scenes fit Anakin indeed. And in the end the old and sad Ben concluding about Anakin's fall in a way that young Luke could feel, but not completely understand the truth. Alec Guiness is brilliant. You did an absolutely fantastic job here. The song was gorgeous, but what I really loved is how you took the viewer into Obi-wan's mind, and really justified everything he said to Luke. His past experiences, the pain it put Padme through in telling her the truth. Had Luke known, he never would have wanted to be a Jedi.

And that bit at the very end, where the image of Dark Vader stands between the two friends, Obi-wan and Anakin, and how they both appeared sad about it...just brilliant.
