Stalingrad never had to be a battlefield to begin with. Hitler should have just kept Army Group South together and go after the oil in the south. Stalingrad wasn't as strategic as this great documentary made it out to be.

Stalingrad was a strategic error by the Wehrmacht. They should've bypassed the city & focused on capturing the Russian oild fields. And before the 6th Army was surrounded, they should've withdrawn but Hitler wouldn't let them.
I am American and I understand that no one is perfect but I also know that the Axis and Soviets committed more terrifying crimes than any we or the British did. Huge rape in Berlin and the Katyn massacre in Poland compared to Dachau massacre is different but still horrible. I do appreciate the help from Russia during the war but our military doctrines are very different. Russia relies on numbers and brutality while we use training and technology. These differences tend to cancel each other out.
@vkon15 Oh really? The Soviets didn't really commit much manpower to fight the Japanese. I'd say 90% of the work was actually done by the Western Allies, mainly Britain. They fought in Africa, the Pacific, Italy and the rest of Europe. Russia was mainly fighting in Eastern Europe and not those other places very much.

Stalingrad was a strategic error by the Wehrmacht. They should've bypassed the city & focused on capturing the Russian oild fields. And before the 6th Army was surrounded, they should've withdrawn but Hitler wouldn't let them.

I am American and I understand that no one is perfect but I also know that the Axis and Soviets committed more terrifying crimes than any we or the British did. Huge rape in Berlin and the Katyn massacre in Poland compared to Dachau massacre is different but still horrible. I do appreciate the help from Russia during the war but our military doctrines are very different. Russia relies on numbers and brutality while we use training and technology. These differences tend to cancel each other out.

@vkon15 Oh really? The Soviets didn't really commit much manpower to fight the Japanese. I'd say 90% of the work was actually done by the Western Allies, mainly Britain. They fought in Africa, the Pacific, Italy and the rest of Europe. Russia was mainly fighting in Eastern Europe and not those other places very much.

@BolenzosDream as i said.....according to THESE DOCUMENTARIES...russia was democratic. (this may stir up some controversy) but the UK is just a fashion statement democracy.....and dude...if there is a string of "bad" democratic leaders....does it discredit democracy ??? NO....there have been some bad communists but it doesnt refute communism as a whole. Major examples, some monarchs have been ruthless while some greatly served their country, so should they remove monarchs all around the world ?

The last time i checked, a democracy has an elected leader (same with my examples) and they were still hogwash. Unless these same documentaries are wrong Russia was democratic in WWI

You guys do realize that this is all theory? Sure Hitler could have won battle of Britain, but he could have tried invading Britain without air superiority. And who knows? He may have won, then go on to Africa, Middle East and Russia.
Uh... no... doesn't work like that. France was taken over, so was Poland, but they actually continued fighting by joining an allied nation, the British. If Britain was took over, then suddenly, Hitler needed several million soldiers to occupy the Isles for

Suddenly, he's out several million soldiers and hundreds of thousands of tonnes of equipment, food, building materials... etc...etc. Point being, if Hitler captured and occupied Britain, his logistics would be so tied down to the Isles that he wouldn't have much to work with in an attack on Russia. And before you start saying, "They'd recruit Britishmen into the Wehrmacht to bolster their numbers!" Think Vichy France and get back to me.

But again THIS IS ALL THEORETICAL... both my points as well as all yours... There's no point talking about what if's because where does it end? Because maybe British citizens began a strong resistance and Germany loses hold on the Isles. Maybe Germany becomes bankrupt because of the occupation force in England. Who knows? Point is, we needed Soviet help and Soviet needed our help. Germany needed Italy and Japan. (though they both weren't as close knitted partners as GB USA USSR)

I agree with MartynRobin121 - if the British Empire felled to the axis then Hitler would use everything he had conquered in the western countrys and use it on Russia - The Russians would be outnumbered , all they can do is to carry on the war or surrender. But Russia had crack the Nazi tank codes so they where able to listen where the tanks where going and as u probably know they lost the battle. Sorry i dont know the battle name but after the battle the nazis went defenssive

Basically Hitlers foolish gambles and mistakes cost Germany the war. The Axis could have defeated the British 1940 and could have defeated the Russians by 1942 and then the German and Italians could have helped Japan to defeat U.S.A. We should be glad Hitler was leading the Axis forces because he was an idiot, If he had listended to his generals and advisors the Axis would have won.

No, they couldnt defeat british bechose it wasnt just british islands, but canada, india & astralia + much more. Also they couldnt defeat soviets. Their best chance was in late 1941 at battle of moscow, but they lost that battle. At that point soviets had factories up and running in east & siberia so their production finaly begun. And even if Germans would to take Moscow, well remember what capturing of city did to Napoleon? Absolutely nothing, russians just burned it down.
