When I upload the pictures onto my macbook they are in .MPG. format and when I open them in quicktime it says that they aren't a movie file. What the heck do I do?  Just convert the files? Is there any way that I can just change the media format within the camera?

Don't get this, its only got a 1/8" CCD.... that is going to hard time picking up colors in lower lux situations and have worse colors than any average camcorder.

Just got this for my birthday, was kind a scared with all of the negative reviews but its mainly because they did not look at the camera settings. At its default quality the picture is not spectacular, but when recording in HQ the picture looks really good, also people complained about the fact that you can't use video editing software with this well this is true until you export the file as WMV then you can use whatever you want to edit your video with. So I am extremely happy with this camera.

its only like 1 hour and a half (maybe) with the battery that comes with it...i'd recommend getting the 11 hour battery (expensive.)

i don't think that model comes with night shot cuz the one that i have the DCR-SR45 does come with that night shot but not the steady shot or a hot show i had to make my own hot shoe you save some money if you make your own hot shoe.

I had the previous model of this camera back in 2007 for a trip to Argentina. It had a 40 gig drive and I NEVER had to download teh videos to my computer, and it was really great apart sometimes of the loss of focus.

I just bought this one yesterday as I returned the previous one to find a better one but this was the best buy for price and quality.

it's not waterproof or moister proof, so be careful. I ruined my last cam filming me and my friends' snowboard sessions. Take extra precaution to keep it dry.

i use mine for skating and i got a Opteka 0.43x fisheye. i dont like it too much because the camera, without any lenses on it, is zoomed in pretty far and when u put the fisheye on it, it just looks like a wide lens......

so i had to actually tape my fisheye on to my wide lens and it actually works.haha

I use it on iMovie 09 and it pickes it up fine. It sees it as a HDD, I just choose the clips I want and I import them. Just plug it up, open iMovie and it finds it
