USAF Thunderbirds are actually a lot more risky, Thunderbirds fly at 100mph than Blue Angels and do fricken delta rolls, blue angels use the art of perception and depth to make it look closer. Thunderbirds are full skill, not this year though. Lately thunderbirds have went downhill. Both are Great teams

@defactoluth Red Arrows can't be compared to the Thunderbirds or even the Blue Angels. Thunderbirds and Blue Angels F18's and f16's aren't capable of doing the things Red Arrows do. Maybe try comparing Canadian Snow Birds, they use trainer planes as well. Our boys in the US use fast, loud man planes ;)

@we3575 obviously you know nothing about the Black Arrows (now called Red Arrows), you know nothing about the largest jet formation in the world called Frecce Tricolori (10 jets) and you know nothing about the oldest aerobatic team in the world called Patruille de France (Kicking ass since 1931).

When you check out their displays, you will be able to speak about aerobatic teams.

All I said is that the BAE Hawk (Red Arrows) can't be compared to an F16 (Thunderbirds) or F18's (Blue Angels). Red Arrows use BAE Hawk trainers, light and manuverable. US teams use large, heavy, non aerobatic planes. The F16's nor the F18's were made to do aerobatics and really can't. You can't compare the the Thunderbirds to the Red Arrows and vice versa. Fact! Two totally different aircraft.

@MarkDoesXbox It is NOT the same thing. Not even close. The Angels do meneuvers like the Double Farvel and the Diamond Dirty Loop. The Thunderbirds don't come close. The Thunderbirds use MUCH more powerful aircraft so I don't know why they don't do some of the same things. But they are alot more careful. Over 200 Blue Angel pilots have died since their inception.

@MarkDoesXbox You are right and you are wrong. Sorry about the extra 0 when I stated how many died. But the thrust to weight ratio is not even close. An F-16 can go vertical from ground level to 35,000 feet. An F/A-18 E cannot. The F/A-18 will stall. The F-16 is not fly by wire while the F-18 is. And have you ever seen the Blue's pass and review? It happens at the beginning of the show where the aircraft are about 8 inches apart. I've never seen the TB get that close.

F-16 - More agile, maneuverable. Can not match payload of the FA-18

Teams are both highly skilled. I think the blues are prettier, particularly in very tight formation. So...

Thunderbirds are a high speed pass, show off team. The Blue Angels are a tight formation changing "wow factor" team.

Blues = Skill and Precision

Thunderbirds = Adrenaline and Speed with a lot of solo tricks and highspeed passes.

They are both good teams.
