  • i've always loved the second movement-- such a simple and charming melody sat between the first movement which everyone knows; and the third, which is so huge and overwhelming. lovely, thank you for playing.

  • Well, it doesnt look too hard.....Im sure I will learn this by next week. I just need a piano.

  • We love you and your performance.

  • valentina i perfect as alwayslll but a Steinway...excuse me...does now sound like a good old Viennese Boesendorfer,,,,

  • 0:00 - Ooooh, It's a pretty little piece of piano lalalaaa lalalaaa 2:04 - SUPER SAIYAN!!!

  • Thank you.

  • It's a joy to listen to you play. I always wonder how professional pianists practice fast pieces like the 3rd mov. of this Sonata, to achieve the speed and precision necessary.

  • You are so much of an inspiration! Thank you so much!

  • My piano teacher wants me to play this movement, she says that I can play it, but I'm not very sure... but I wish haha

  • @AniiKa1504 just be confident i bet you can :) i never taken lessons and im learning this movement :) so u can do it too

  • @jonnytheemo really? haha thank you :)

  • Am I the only one that stoned to this video? Hmm?

  • @ThatsH0M0 why to stone? it's already cool enough

  • @ThatsH0M0 NOPE, i WATCH THIS AND ALL HER BEST WHILE I'M STONED.

  • i hope that piano was at least 18

  • YES! YES! YES! YES! 2:08-2:50 holy shit! Beautiful to my ears... Orgasmic.

  • gods , look at those hands! those are Rachmaninoff hands....she's great

  • OMG.... i will never gonna learn to play like this

  • i so feel the sonata

  • ... Words cannot describe how well this was played. Holy shit. Absolutely flawless. I have never heard this piece played so beautifully.

  • The third movement is ridiculously hard to play in a clear way (i.e. not all blurry), and this is one of the best performances of it I've seen. It's easy for passages to become really messy, but this is damn near perfect.

  • Your precision is absolutely fascinating. Your timing and timbre. Think you are the best pianist this planet has ever seen. "Outstanding" does not begin to describe the way you treat that beautiful instrument. And thank you so much for sharing with the rest of the world. You have no idea how many evenings you have lightened up for me so far...and hopefully also in the future.

    Kind regards from a

stunned and speachless fan of yours

  • yeeees... let us say not bad.

  • I don't know why, but when I see Valentina playing on a Steinwei it just doesn't seem right !!!!

  • @aro22012 agreeeee!!!

  • Lisitsa, there's a mistake. In the other video you posted, i wrang to correct a musical phrase that was at minut 5:30. But here, i'm sure there's a mistake this time: MINUTO 2:58 (initaliano): al momento del trillo (quello che prende il fa e il mib se non sbaglio), le quartine d'accompagnamento del trillo sono 2 e non una e quindi la battuta dev'essere prolungata di 1/4

  • 41 people were drunk and missed the 'like' button

  • playback

  • @dlinb no it's not

  • OMG!!! Valentina, your piano tecnique is perfect!!! And it's not only the tecnique, but the feeling! Suberb!!! Come back to Rio de Janeiro - Brazil again!!!

  • Goosebumps...

  • @GummyWonka you my friend, are a noob

  • Comment removed

  • holy fucking shit !

  • Absolutely fantastic as usual. Never seen anyone play so relaxed.

  • felicidades tocas muy bien saludos desde mexico !!!

  • mov3 - entering god mode

  • I think her left arm hurts at 5:24 lol

  • really nice

  • This ain't nothing but Beethoven

  • you are one of the best in the world

  • @oooAndyooo not one of the best , the 1 and onlt perfect musicians ..... maybe besides chopin and morzat

  • @junze123456

lol, that's what i said, 1 of the best (besides chopin and mozart), i prefer beethoven

  • @flushnex oh i am sorry my friend,:))),,of course when we are in love we think always paris ,,sorry again i just missed

  • @papcyrill where does she come from???

  • @mitche9999 outer space

  • @MrBlackSiegfried So French. So bitchy!

  • When I was just a kid I'd hide by the heat register in the living room and listen to my sister play this (among many, many other works) - this was always my favorite. Cold Saturday mornings, and Anna, not knowing she had an audience. And the explosion at 2:09, I'll never forget that. Such fury. Thank you Anna

  • @matambale aaaawww sweet *-*

  • She place this peace the best. At least from what I've heard and trust me I've listened to a lot of versions of the moonlight sonata.

  • beautiful performance but it is not moonlight sonata

  • @GummyWonka Lol it is Moonlight sonata... only without the 1st movement as the title says

  • @GummyWonka What are you talking about? Of course it's the Moonlight sonata.

  • @GummyWonka Well what it is if it's not moonlight sonata?

  • @GummyWonka

haha you have heard only first part and think that only first is the whole sonata :))) or you think that if its called moonlight cant be fast and it should be sad and slow?

  • its weird becuz the description n the user are the same

  • thy are 36 deaf now!

  • Much better than Kempff's version. My opinion.

  • Love her to death.

  • I love this performance and the piano sounds like a grandfather clock. Wonderful!

  • very beautiful! thank you so much!

  • sheet music @ sheetsearch . com

  • I like the way she plays Beethoven.

  • There can only be one girl like this in a century

  • @sevylines Only its not a girl: It's a woman. No girl will ever be able to talk to a piano, and through a piano the way she does.Ever.

  • i can say she plays the third movement much better then wilhem kempff

  • @awe3774 I disagree. It dislike her interpretation of the piece in comparison.

  • damn girl, i love u:D

  • BRILHANTE....

  • mi idolaaaa la adoro

  • mi idolaaaa la adoro

  • si rifaa !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she sits there so casually and blasts out one of thee most epic beethoven pieces, with such apparent ease! just . . . . . amazing

  • Beethoven was better than you sorry :(

  • One of the finest versions here on youtube. Wilhelm Kempff plays also amazing.

  • First off i want to start by saying you are the world's best piano player. Second, was this song hard to learn & how long did it take? Third, can I find the sheet music for this anywhere? Thank you so much!

  • @partycentral21 it depends how long you already play piano. im learning it and i play piano now for about 18 months. its not hard to learn it, but to play it: i just cant play enough even and balanced, and the worst thing is that my fingers dont have enough power to keep up the piece. but i learned a lot from this piece - and sometimes it sounds ok when i play it.

  • Thirty-three people are more deaf than Beethoven.

  • @AFoardable lol

  • @AFoardable you mean dead?

(:P hehe, or soon going to be either one?)

  • @3:04 mistake!!You are one of my idols!!!You and Kissin!!!

  • @PianoZros You sound so sick. o.o

  • I just came

  • you shortened the third movement right?

  • amazing!

  • 2:07 <3

  • I'd agree to get my ass kicked every single day if that could make me play piano just like she does :)

  • What would have been the world without your fingers Valentina ?

  • AWESOMEEEEEEEEE *_*

  • awesome :)

  • Great playing... In my opinion there's a bit much pedal, but... it's an opinion! :)

  • i'm absolutely blown away from her piano playing.

  • Maybe we can't play like this (I enjoy doing some rubato even on Beethoven haha

:-D), but I deeply think this is a slaughter of the piece compared to what Kempff did ^^

  • carnegie hall? stage looks familiar

  • WOW excelent! GOOD and super NICE!!! this is real nice women!

  • Excelente interpretación, es uno de mis movimientos preferidos de las sonatas que he escuchado.

  • Damn!

  • this needs to be on the radio instead of that capitalist nazie music!

  • @tommy1973able settle the fuck down haha.. capotilist nazis? alright buddy..

  • @carvehamwhole2 you both... capitalist nazi doesn't even make sense....

  • wow!!!

  • A sheer beauty.

  • 31 people cant play like this..................

  • @csaylo more than 31, I'm afraid.

  • @hymnofashes yeah more like 98% of the human population... or something to that effect.....

  • @Doyle251 That's why I love msot of my band charts. We recently played one that told the story of a shipwreck, from the voyage start, to the maelstrom, to the rescue.

  • This is just amazing, and I'm saying it as a pianist who learned this entire piece.

I counted 4 SLIGHT mistakes at the 3rd part, and she got the REALLY hard parts flawlessly. Most professional pianosts cna't go through this piece without some 5 mistakes.

    I'm amazed.

  • @Kakabeblen

Indeed, and actually it's very unusual for her to make any mistakes at all. She has a recording on her site where she literally plays it flawlessly. Of course, that wouldn't mean anything if she wasn't musical about it, but she always is =)

  • All I can say is that you are just...........WOW! I can't explain what it does to me to watch you play!!! AMAZING!!!

  • became one with the paino. omg

  • moments like this one i just want to learn how to play the piano desperattly. but then i think that i'll never ever ever ever be as good as she is... she is... well... like... perfect, great and i don't know what else!!!! WOW!!! JUST WOW!

  • @sivula17 this piece isnt as bad as it looks

  • @pratto54321 and by that you mean what exactly...?

  • @sivula17 I mean not as hard to play as it looks.

  • @pratto54321

    ^ I agree. muscle memory

  • @pratto54321 for you! but i have never played anything in my life and i suppose that the little plastic one that i used to play with when i was 5 doesn't count...!

  • SHES A FUCKING BEST!!!!!!!!

  • Once more.. your are one of the best pianist of our times.

    Thanks a lot

  • i wish i can play it!

  • @XxNo1MileyCyrusFanxX

You can't cus you listen to Miley Cyrus.

  • This is beautiful.

  • Nightshader1 just got owned.

  • I'm a harpsichordist, and I can never really get into piano music, but these are my favorite piano pieces. And Lisitsa plays it perfectly with lots of emotion, which makes it very entertaining and a joy to watch!

  • I love this performance technically, but my favorite for moonlight mvt 3 will always be Kempff.

I don't know why, but when I listen to his version I feel like a portal opens up and takes me to a different world. I didn't feel that with Valentina, but her rendition is still beautiful.

  • @Xyfrag I'm sorry she didn't have to power to create some sort of supernatural experience for you; I don't think thats what musicians intend to do when they play.

  • @Xyfrag i understand what you mean, Kempff just does something a little differently..

but this woman is just amazing! I mean, also look into how old kempff was, and how young she is... (granted, with 8 lifetimes of practice is still couldn't get this good!)

  • @Xyfrag She has those rare qualities of personal aura and charisma combined with both technical and artistic and emotional prowess. I'm a little bit in love with her. I think the Third movement of the Moonlight suits her best and it's my favourite of all the composers. I do prefer Maria Donska and Daniel Barenboim in the First Movement, but I don't know any pianist like her who creates such an atmosphere in the hall...

  • rock and roller at heart but i can listen to this for hours....so relaxing..my wife plays the piano and i love listening to her play...how can 30 people dislike this....oh yeah thats right we envy what we cant do ...dumbasses....this women is brilliant

  • She has super fast digits but they can also be over powering in the softer sections.

Maybe the fastest fingers I've seen-heard. Overall a 9.5 imho.

  • gotta love the left hand at 3:46-7, i've noticed that little finger technique in couple of other pieces, chopin's revolutionary i.e. :D neat

  • My idol <3

  • shes great!!!! love her!!!

  • Mind blowing...

  • Sorry but Epicness Starts At 0.01

  • @examanted I agree

  • @examanted Sorry, but epicness starts at 0.01 of the first movement.

  • seriously i want someone who thumbed this down to comment here justifying why they did so.. i really think people just do it to be assholes...

  • lol my vid was loading smoothly until 2:08... thats when my vid started lagging

  • her hands are so cool!!!

  • Awesome! Congratulations!

  • wow... :|

  • Omg woman! That was the best rendition of movement 3 I have ever heard. Anyone with half a brain would realize the amount of time and practice that went in to playing that. Kudos.

  • 28 pepol don't know wath is music!!!

  • some people can play this without making mistakes - listen to Horowitz, Rubinstein, or Barenboim

  • @willashland Including Valentina. Watch the one she recorded in Beethovensaal.

  • wait, she loses it in lots of parts starting around 4:30

  • one of the best 3rd movements i've ever heard

  • I bet she can curl like 100

  • @dekeverszijncool no no. u misunderstand. i think Valentina is one of the best. i adore her way of playing.

if i met Wilhelm Kempff and he did 3 mistakes, i would beat the shit out of him!!

i wouldn't waste a lot of time shaming him. i would probably just but-head him, stare very disgruntled at him and then leave in a very offended manner.

  • Valentina, You look more splendid than Wilhelm Kempff ! specialy in this attire:)))

God bless You! Моей дочери есть теперь к чему стремиться дальше в ее занятиях музыкой. Спасибо.

  • If you agree, I pay you what you want and you teach me how to play it like you...

  • No comment on the music as it is well beyond my level. Just have to admire. But the video lost the highlight, overexposed. Her hair and the keyboard is not right.

  • nice hear.... :P

  • 2:07 the epicness starts :)

  • The way she is fingering this piano is just obscene, instant ear orgasm.

  • JUST AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • Lucius Malfoy is one hell of a piano player.

  • These dislikes must be out of jealousy!

  • This is such a great video. She's such an amazing pianist.

  • seriously (jealous) people that dislike this video, what do you not like? Give a thumbs up cuz at least she has a decent amount of talent!!! -_-

  • Shes Perfection, and the most underrated pianist

  • The thing about Beethoven is most people are familiar with the most famous movements of his works but few are aware of the other movements of those works that are as good or better. Here's a good example...

  • didnt think she was capable of mistakes. i counted 3-4 in this piece :(

  • @CT2507

There's no such thing as a flawless performance, some mistakes are just better hidden. Focus on the right things.
