This is the first recording of this I've ever heard where the first "OWhat" isn't cut off. "Car Crazy Cutie" was never one of my favorite Beach Boy tunes, and giving it different lyrics doesn't make much of a difference. It's good enough for album filler, but even without any British invasion competition, I don't think this single would've gotten very far.
This was recorded on the Capitol label in 1963. The flip side was "After The Game."
Although Brian Wilson assisted Bob Norberg, Dave Nowlen and friends on this record, it was NOT a Beach Boys recording, although it is sometimes mistakenly attributed to that famous group.
The Survivors were Brian, Bob Norberg, Rich Alarian and Dave Nowlen. This song just had the misfortune of being released at approximately the same time as the Beatles first Capitol single...and poor ol' "Pamela Jean" got left.
what a great record!
