  • Roddick is a dick!

  • santoro moved into the serve. andy didnt hit it at him

  • Didn't Roddick serve at Federer a while back in a similar way, I dunno, there's body serves and then there's these, don't remember this match so I don't know the context but it looked somewhat deliberate even taking into account Roddick's power, at least Santoro looked like he took it as that.

  • @TopDog69 and federer returned it back and earned the point!

  • @DCProductions77 Was it Madrid? Was one of the clay events anyway.

  • @TopDog69 yeah it was on clay. its on youtube somewhere. Typical federer attitude, he barely moved and earned the point.

  • @DCProductions77 LOL my god u can ride feds dick like theres no tomrrow, read ur comments and see it for urself how funny it looks.

  • @thisnamealsotaken you sound pretty gay to me yourself. Being excited about sports is not "riding anybody dick" federer has earned his right to have fans, until you post a winning shot of you hitting a ball between your legs in a match (that counts) stfup!

  • @DCProductions77 ride on my friend ride on loll.

  • @thisnamealsotaken thank you thisnameis not original

  • @DCProductions77 wow what a comeback, right on point too.

  • wow really? those ESPN guy should just quit their job. Hope Roddick would fire a 140mph ball on their FACE!

  • i hate baseballs references in tennis.... Fuck you ESPN ur tennis coverage and commentary SUCK.

  • I hate women doing sports reviews about men!!!

I DON'T GIVE A DAMN IF SHE 'HAD A ROUGH DAY'

  • santoro is just flustered iwth his performance and play in general and he has a strange way of showing it. he applauded roddick's serve, so i don't think he was being malicious, he probably mentally had enough byt he last point

  • I could only understand Santoro's reaction if Roddick deliberately served 140 m/h into the body every single time which I'm pretty sure he hasn't

  • I'm a very competitive tennis player. This is called a body serve. Everyone does it. I think the issue was that Santoro thought it was clear that he had given up at this point in the match. It's not an issue of tactics but of the fact that when Roddick is serving for the match he is rarely broken. Santoro should know that Roddick competes hard every point and expects the same from his opponent.

  • @danteblaze14

As a competitive tennis player, you should remain cold blooded and in control of the match until the match is over. What is Roddick meant to do? Throw in a few unforced errors to keep the other guy in the match?

  • This happens a lot when people are banging serves. I've been beaned like this and ive beaned people like this. Serves into the body are a legit strategy, as long as you're not hitting the person directly on the fly (lol).

I dont see why people say nothing when a ball slices into the body, but when someone hits a flat serve into the body people start getting all offended.

  • i like santoro a lot, but what was is problem? santoro doesnt need to stay there, and roddick can serve where he wants and as fast as he wants.

  • this news anchor is the biggest fucking idiot! he has no idea why santoro isnt returning roddick's serve on match point...what an idiot

  • i think the commentators should experience how it feels like to return an andy serve before commenting on others giving up.

  • Body serve is totally fair, but an apologize for that almost injuring Fabrice wouldn't hurt Andy. I'm a big fan of them both.

  • the reason why santoro got pissed is because everyone including santoro knew that raoodick was going to win. and then roddick put a 140 mph in direction of santoro.

  • just a body serve --> santoro = crying pussy

  • Hitting at someone is part of the game. It's understandable why Santoro would be upset, but Andy didn't do anything wrong. I think the surprising part about this incident was Santoro's reaction. It's not like he reacted irrationally, but for him, it was surprising. He's usually a big fan favorite. He has fun on the court, he realizes he isn't one of the best players in the world but just tries to be fun for the sake of the fans. Seeing him get so pissed about this was very surprising.

  • roddick is arrogant idiot. all he can do is serve. no backhand.

  • @Melancholist74 I'd like to see you play him. I doubt you can even win a point off of him.

  • that somebody is mr FABRICEEEEEEEEE SANTOROOOOOOOO,"THE MAGICIAN" :P

  • court etiquette.. i guess it kinda plays apart, but when u look at the wimbledon final 2009,the commentators in cluding boris becker, tim henman and john mc enroe commented on andy roddicks good use of the body serve, they didnt say tthat its not fair, they said that its smart, and its good that he roddick is fully utilizing it

  • @AhmadStpats yeah, body serves are completely ok to use i mean, i wouldn't hesitate to serve to the body of an opponent if i thought it would help me tactically. If roddick MEANT to hit him, and did so with malice, it might be a different story, but roddick, among other players, use the tools they have to win

  • Serving in the direction of the opponent's body is one option a player has. Never seen anybody else doing that? It's perfectly fair. Or only if one serves less thatn 100 miles?? Santoro's reaction that time was not fair.

  • I'm not saying if it's legal or not legal. What I'm saying is is that Roddick served a godly fast serve DIRECTLY at Santoro. I'm not saying that he did it on purpose, but of course, that would easily piss someone off. I'm not blaming anyone, but I would be pretty pissed if a 140 mph ball came flying directly at me as well. It wasn't a matter of Santoro being "too slow", as almost no one can avoid that. Roddick has some of the deadliest serves and I'm pretty sure he felt bad about that.

  • the best serve is hit it where the player can't get it. and it worked. no reason for santos to get worked up about it. venus and serena do this all the time in doubles. Professionals don't wine.or cry

  • Serena or Venus aren't able to hit 140 mph serves. And please, every single player has bitched on the court about something. Of course, the best serve is hit where the player can't get it. That's why people aim towards the corner or towards the center; not towards the player. It's court etiquette. It's like if someone slammed an overhead directly at your body if they had the whole other side of the court open.

  • fuck court ediquette. you think mcenroe had court ediquette. it tennis, not golf, take that court ediquette crap some where else. they need to get their ass off the court if that cant play. and serena and venus hit serves 127 miles per hour and for womens tennis, thats fast! and unlike santos, THOSE GIRLS GET HIT WITH BALLS.

  • Serena and Venus's service speeds are irrelevant to the topic right now, we all know they have monster serves.

Um, what is your point? Santoro could've reacted better but I don't blame him for his reaction. Honestly, would you appreciate it if you almost got nailed by a 140 mph ball? And for those girls who got hit, they had a better reaction than Santoro. Court etiquette is VERY important. Why do you think players like Chris Evert and Federer are so respected?

  • one thing i always like about tennis that i didnt realize till i got older. is that it seperates itself from golf. i mean you can't talk . i see what your saying. but im a fan of show boating, inzone dances and nothing that has to do with ediquette. i do that at my house too much. i like a little outburst in my sports.

  • @hmarco1 i guess the point that santoro was trying to make is that roddick was two points away from winning the match. choosing to aim at the body on the first serve is not a necessary tactic.

  • Santoro is just ridiculous! Roddik did nothing wrong. Santoro was just too slow!

  • yes, because a human can obviously avoid a 140 mph flying object.

  • roger federer

  • roddick can put the ball anywhere he wants, why he chose a hard serve down the middle when he was crushing santoro would piss anyone off. not saying he did it on purpose, but why make it close

  • Santoro's jus' mad 'cause he's got one of the faggiest girliest pussiest serves of all time along with his faggy girly pussy outfits and playing style, and he'll never have a tenth the serve and manliness of Roddick!

  • or your post.

  • santoro is a great player look federer santoro, his 38 years old 61 grand slam mark

  • I ment that the "comentators" exagerated when they thought that Santoro got mad because Roddick would have aimed for Santoro which is not true

  • It's stupid to think that Andy tried to aim for Santoro,it was just a serve and we know Andy has a fast serve, first you can't blame this because it's enough far and what do the comentators mean?you aren't allowed to serve as fast as you can?Nothing happened, just a bomb serve. They are exagerating

  • i watch a lot of tennis and i never heard of a pro tennis player who was afraid to hit the ball back. it look like a well placed serve to me. the object of a serve is no return. he accomplished this plus one. where is the exaggeration at?

  • ESPN needs to stay away from commenting on tennis. They know absolutely nothing and project their ignorance on mainstream media.

  • these guys dont know enough about tennis. But im not for sure id watch tennis on tv if espn wasnt covering it. YOU should know about tennis, its just their job to cover it. i watch the australian open on espn2 when they have it. is there another place its on tv?

  • still though, you honestly arent frustrated with how stupid they sound. Its kind of embarassing for the sport when they talk like that.

  • The guys in this clip are not the match commentators. This just looks like highlights of day or some segment like that. I watch all the slams on ESPN2 and appreciate their coverage of a non-mainstream sport. The commentators on ESPN2 are Patrick MacEnroe, Darren Cahill, Brad Gilbert...these guys know their tennis.

  • obviously they are not the match commentators, no one said that.

BTW, there is a channel you can order called Tennis Channel. No sarcasm, its pretty good for their funding. You should get it.

  • I used to have tennis channel a few years back. Seriously, I don't miss it. I'm not THAT obsessed with tennis to were I have to watch "bag check" "no strings", etc. I also don't need to watch the first rounds of say the...Los Angeles Countywide Classic. Which is why I'm happy with ESPN, and CBS which usually carries the later rounds of Masters tournaments.

BTW, no sarcasm taken...and to each their own.

  • im with you on all what you said. ive been watching tennis for a about 18 years and at no time i watched bag checks. and i have never had or want a channel that was soley for tennis. hell, i hate the golf channel. i can see all the great matches on espn. the williams sisters and the nadals and the roger f's. sometimes any coverage is better than no coverage!

  • @bassadorelove espn knows a lot about tennis, probably more than you. Patrick McEnroe works for espn, and the tournament commentators i positive know more than you. This is just a the high lights.

  • @bassadorelove

It's ok and it's relevant news. At the end of a match you are dominating what roddick did is not necessary.

  • Warning! if you are going to respond and make a post, no name calling about the person who owns the page or anybody who post. You can get your point across without attacking, otherwise you really dont have an argument to begin with. And if you want to call andy roddick names, or anybody else not on this page, go right ahead.

  • his fastest at this years open was 147. saw it live

  • roddick sucks dick, hes never gonna get to even the top 3 in the world if all he has is that serve

  • who gives a rats ass, mens tennis is lame, i can name the top 10 in ncaa football but i cant name the top ten of tennis. top ten of tennis means nothing.

  • roddick already served at 155mph..wonder why he´s lost power..

  • he didn't consistently hit 155 dude....he's always been up there at 130-150 just like he is now

  • today he´s around 144 max..that was his strongest serve at the us open this year, if i recall right..still very powerfull..

  • Tennis is definitely a real sport. Golf requires no true athleticism, but Tennis clearly requires extreme conditioning. I agree with you about having to work for every point.

  • These sports talk people in the video are dumb. A lot of players return 140mph body serves. Now, they usually cannot get good returns off them, but they don't all pansy out like Santoro did. Also, a lot of people have called Roddick disrespectful for his serving, but I think that Santoro's hands on hips is very bad sportsmanship and very lame.

  • roddick is a master and its to honest luck he placed it that good. Federer returned one for a point on youtube post i was watching. It was so fast i couldnt tell he got the point. But it wasnt at him. And you are right the other doesnt have much sportmanship. But thats what makes me think tennis is a real sport (unlike golf wear you dont have an opponent). It hard work and every point you get you earn it.

  • Ma cosa vuole Santoro...battere al corpo e' una cosa normalissima x non dare angolo di risposta all'avversario...e specialmente nella seconda di servizio la usano tutti questa tattica....Grande Andy continua cosi'!!!!

  • maicibai teh angmozz

  • for all you dumbass' who actually think he tryed to hit him...think about this why would he hit him if he was already kicking his ass no problem...i watched the entire match roddick dominated the guyso he would have no reason to hit him...but i honestly wish he would have hit him stupid french piece of shit

  • how can you complain when you have plenty of time to see the ball coming and prepare for it. If you got beat you got beat, plain and simple. 140 coming at you or away from is the same difference, unreturnable. The williams sisters did the same thing to some girls in doubles and they got hit with the ball and the girls didnt know it was coming. At least he had a chance. I agree with the comment about the french.

  • Andy Roddick is a whiny little JAP; if he spendt as much time focusing on his own psychological resolve instead of trying the win over the mindless NYC crowds by posting youtube videos about how many injuries Djokovic supposedly has, he might have had a chance to win. YOU GOT PWNED ROD DICK! Oh and btw...thanks for blowing off your country by failing to represent USA at the olympics for the selfish and deluded pursuit of winning the US Open.

Best of luck next year douche

  • i dont follow mens tennis like i do womens tennis. And as far as andy roddick or any tennis player represent my country in the olympics, i gave up on that along time ago. The best athletes in america truly dont want to play tennis or anything. With football players and basketball players getting all the hype and money. Its hard thing to sell to kids to practice tennis all day.

  • What aspects of womens tennis do you prefer? (Thats a genuine question, not a critical statement)

  • im a fan of the william sisters and i watch and tivo all their games and i keep up on their stats as well as some of the other girls. Ive been watching women tennis since martina handed the reigns over to seffi graff and steffi handed it over to the williams sisters. I dont like whining martina hingis, but i did like jennifer capriati. Thats were i stand at tennis. I also know justine is the only one imo to keep up with the williams sisters.

  • top tennis players make great money though..i think america might come up with another agassi or sampras type player in the future..

  • umm, yeah they do but do you know how much practice it takes to get there and hell blake is a very good tennis player and hes not a household name. I cant name but roddick and blake and i cant think of any americans. The media unfortunately controls people. All you see is football, baseball, basketball on tv. Few people want to do all the practice to become a tennis player. And it cost alot of money for coaches and training to be the best.

  • it´s probably just lack of organization..but i read in tennis magazine that chris evert´s academy is serious about developing players to be pros from a young age..i think it´s hard for many aspiring to believe they can get there as well..few are wiling to make the great sacrifices required..

  • IMO it's a mixture of the two. People don't want to watch tennis, people don't want to learn it, cause it's complicated. It's one of the hardest sports to learn. You're hitting a ball moving on all three axes while you yourself are moving. Not only that, but you have to train, buy equipment... etc. As reefric (above) said, there are sacrifices you have to make. Whether it's time, money, or losing the opportunity to go to college/university at the right age, it can be tough.

  • i enjoy watching it and the roger and nadal matchups have been some of greatest in history and i was glad to be part of them

  • you mentioned college, well, even if you don´t desire to play pro level, you can play in college in the us, I bet many people play on scholarship´s, by playing in college..I wish I had that vision when I was younger..

  • Roddick non ha fatto nulla di male.Tirare addosso nel tennis è normalissimo, che studiasse un po di regole santore e che non rompesse il cazzo!

  • you should translate that.
