@HereticLoyalist [001] - [019] was recorded on the PC version of Gears of War, but I have no clue if this fact has to do with any differences you just experienced (I assume most, including you, played the XBOX360 version). I assure you this was set on Insane.
As for damage taken, just one pack of Krill left untouched are able to destroy the vehicle in about 3 seconds in my experience. See 2:48 (and I even shot half of them down before they touched me). /shrug
This is definitely not Insane, I've literately just come from playing this level on Insane, you take so much damage it's unreal.
