  • Uuh

  • 'Roided bodybuilder can gain more than double naturals, just sitting on the couch.

They don't have to lift that heavy to gain. Steroid users can train differently than naturals.

  • hey awsome squat great power check out my newest video called my best squats :)

  • im a premed exercise science student so i can always spot out mistakes...but this is one of the first times ive seen someone squat wish such perfect form. ive never seen anyone do it better. kept the bar above your heels. knees back. ass back. thats was absolutely great, keep it up man....great form=great results

  • Would have liked to have seen below parallel, but that is some heavy weight you are moving for your BW and aside from depth being a little high your form was awesome. Controlled descent, tight arch in the back, powerful explosion through the heels. Really nice squats. They would have been perfect if you could have gone like 2-3 inches deeper.

  • who trained you those were so so reps

  • that's a real man!!

  • Wouldn't wearing belt be more beneficial since it makes you life heavier and more reps?

  • @MetaIhead89 if you want a bigger ego then go for it. you don't need to go extremely heavy to be a body builder.

  • @jaydeenturk so is bodybuilding more about what form you use?? i have noticed a lot of the pro bodybuilders have shit form and they pull massive weight but still seem to get big??

  • @TrulyUniqueOne well gh and steroids sure do help however you do see many pros use relatively light weights at times.

i'm not saying it isn't necessary to go heavy but it definitely isn't essential to go heavy and strain your body than giving it the proper workout it should be getting. many pros even say things along the lines of leaving your ego outside the gym to progress.

  • @jaydeenturk "Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder, but nobody wanna lift no heavy ass weight." You must be one of those people who dont wanna lift no heavy ass weight. :(

  • @GusMartin2 well if 60kg lunges are some heavy ass weights then i must be superhuman! lol

i wasn't saying i don't go heavy but i'm saying it isn't necessary to wear a belt just to push another 5kg or whatever. shall we agree that you need to do a combination of heavy ass weights and moderate weights?

  • @jaydeenturk Yeah different exercises diffent rep ranges...I sqauting benching deadlifting and excersices like that I go heavy for 5-8 reps...but the easier exercises (biceps triceps) I go lighter and get more reps.

  • hey tuan i get a pelvic tilt sometimes when i squat close or wide stance and i do have my head up to keep my back straight but no matter how hard i try, i cant get rid of this pelvic tilt.. can you help me?

  • Much respect on being natural.... you're a tank!

  • It does an old powerlifter's heart good to see someone actually break parallel in the squat, it is a rare sight indeed in the gym. This is how a man squats kids.

  • Impressive

  • That's oustanding!!! Nice form man! Kids at my school think they can max that but they go not even half way on the squat and call it there max..

  • Nice!

  • 180 kg in Siberia squats candidate master powerlifting, bodyweight 81 kg with height 190 cm and does it silently, and did not even eat protein.

    Have a nice day.

  • hey tuan, i got a question for you. what do you do when your back(lower) hurts so bad when you squat..or do anything else leg related for that matter.. that you just can't do the lifts anymore? without lifting n football n track, i'd be lost, n wanna know what i can do for myself. any advice?

  • ATG or go home.

  • I have to say that while I do not condone the absence belts for squats (Although I have reason to believe the absence thereof was merely for demonstrative purposes and probably isn't frequented),this was fairly impressive considering he exhibited proper form and recognised that while he did not have a somebody to spot him (Another bad idea for heavy weight in my opinion)he STILL took into consideration the possibility of failure EVEN though he was fairly confident in the lift, & had safety bars

  • Goku-San???? Oh wait, nope, not a super-saiyan, just a really f_ _kin strong guy...

Keep it up Tuan, always great to watch these vids!

  • Dude, you have great abs, can you share your progams on abs

  • Hey Tuan, i watch a lot of your vids, this is my first comment though. Whenever its my leg day (quads + hams) i start out with squats and then hack squats and then leg extensions. Basically after squats i feel really sick and the majority of the time i have to go and throw up in the gym toilets, any advice in how to get around this?

  • Hehe dude I recently dieted down as well, got to 7%, squat PLUMETTED, LOL. Went from 405 for 5 to 405 for 1 LOL.

  • Quick question. Whenever I have do squats I have a crunchy sound in my left knee around the knee cap. There's no pain involved. I think it might be a patella tracking problem. I don't have any problems when I do lunges or dead lift though. Any ideas? Awesome videos!

  • @Krumpenstein your IT band may be very tight. I would suggest doing alot of foam rolling and getting a good sport massage in that area. Also, more single leg mobility work would help as well

  • @Krumpenstein Tuan, I have the same issue except it's on my right knee. There is no problem, no pain, or complications. Just there is that same crunching sound. It's weird.

  • @Krumpenstein Or you could have torn cartilage. It may not be painful. Ask me how I know.

  • @Krumpenstein I think i know exactly what you're talking about and I have that same problem too. What I do is I put pressure on my heel as I go up, that way it doesn't stress the calves as much and works more on your hamstring therfore; less stress on that kneecap. It work's for me, let me know how you feel.

Or it could be just you lean forward too much and again, putting too much pressure on that cap.

  • I don't know how much u weighed in this video but if you weigh 195 I would expect you to squat 405. I can squat 2x my body weight and ive only been working out for a year.

  • @rickalex21 Hes repping 405 so his max is prolly 465. and i wanna see you make a video of your squat, i bet your bullshitting, or you weigh like 125lbs

  • @PowerSprinter and ? I can hit 2x BW for 3 reps and I have not being training for many years like he prob has. I'ma be honest with you Ive only been training for 1 year bullshit at the gym for 4 months and was injured for 3 months. And ya I weigh 130 lbs but heavy weight is heavy weight regardless if its 270 lbs that I squat or 405 or 700.

  • @rickalex21 haha, dude when you weigh 130lbs its soooo much easier to put up solid number bodyweight wise.

dude, you are putting up 270lbs probably quarter squatting, he can put up 405lbs easy. just sit down and shut up son

  • @PowerSprinter nope not quarter squats all the way down ass past knees.

  • @PowerSprinter Talk is cheap , when you can out do me pound for pound I will listen to what you have to say. Put up a video of you squatting 2x your bodyweight or even 1.5x your bodyweight. Talk is cheap. I'm not arguing im not cursing I let my numbers do the talking :)

  • @rickalex21 excuse me, talk is cheap? thats my whole point, you are the one talking while this dude is lifting

and btw, click on my page dumbass, i do have a video of me doing more than 2x my bodyweight.

I can do much more now, last workout i did 350lbs for 3 reps, while your small ass cant lift shit

its easier to be stronger pound for pound when you are scrawny

  • @PowerSprinter Dude, no point in arguing with a guy thats been lifting for only a year. His pound for pound theory is off because it doesnt work like that.

  • @ludacris333 yeah, i just hate it when people just start something and then get all cocky and bring other legit dude's down that have put in 20 times the work

but your right, there is no way i can get through to him, hes just gonna have to learn it by himself once he actually starts liftin seriously and realizes what it takes to be strong

  • @ludacris333 Im not arguing with anyone, and ive accomplished more in 1 year than most people in my gym have for 5 years and Im not only strong in squatting im strong in all areas.

  • @PowerSprinter Ok i give you props good job , you are good at squatting. But are you good at deadlifting , pressing , and benching ? You remind me of my nephew all he is good at is squatting...not saying that's the case. Dude chill out man it's just youtube you take it soo personal prob cause u a youngster and ya Im a small man but im not scrawny and I have accomplished more in 1 year than most guys in my gym have in 5 years.

  • Good job on form,Tuan! How did you get your traps?I'm doing only compunds and don't seem to be developing them.Congrats on your competition also.

    Tex

  • Never broke parallel...

  • Dude you have great genetics and great work ethic. Thank your parents! beast!!!

  • I love how this guy is so chill and mellow up until he starts squatting - then the Kraken is unleashed.

  • do use a wind stance for your squats for that much weight or shoulder width/little farther apart should width I perform both for college weightlifting because in the little tournaments we do Benchpress , Squat, and powerclean, I use a wider stance but I was thinking about just adjusting to a closer stance to increase my power clean because I dip low when I clean

  • Hey Tuan, I have a question on the best way to increase my squat. I am on the iron man's hit program which consists of a medium(7-10),low(1-5),high(11-15) rep range and all my weights are skyrocketing except my squat. Do you have any advice. Thanks, I'm a huge fan and wish ll the best!!!

  • i can`t get those squats deep enough and i feel like i don`t do proper technique

  • TWAN HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH?

  • Nice lift. I noticed in this video your abs look a bit distended (relaxed) even though you have a low BF, while in others you have a really tight wasteline. Do you do anything to remedy distended abs? Sometimes I get them even with low BF when I'm doing heavy barbell rows, deadlifts and squats. Like they expand too much from heavy breathing/forcing.

  • Seriously, your vids of your personal fitness tests are some of the most intense shit I've ever seen. Your Push up max video you did a while ago REDEFINED pushups for me!

  • got a questions bro. I do a lot of leg presses 1000 plus lbs. but no squats. bad back. should I do squats light, more reps or just keep it out of the routine? I do body building natural..thanks for the help. ps love the vids. from on asian to next keep it up brotha, and they think we are small. phssst

  • @MrWonderful3000 if your back hurts, try doing dumb bell front squats. also, do lots of planks/bridges to strengthen your core to improve you squats. holf for 60 to 90 secs at a time.

  • you work hard man good stuff

  • some dude said not the best form are you kidding me? he went crazy deep especially with that much weight. this is a very impressive lift especially with how lean you are. im 19 iv been lifting sinse i was 13 consistently but iv only known what i was doing for a couple years. im 5ft 10 170lbs at about 9% so not bad for my small frame. I have a quick question for you how high do you let your bodyfat get when you bulk?? cuz im in the middle of bulking.

  • asian pride. how can i buy a training program from you? :D

  • you have the same name as me! no wait, i have the same name as you

  • bodybulilders should be squatting ATG to ensure a full range of motion

  • @iThiZz925 ATG?

  • great squat my brother

  • That's alotta weight man. lol. What do u mean u lost strength in squats? That was perfect form too. You're a monster fool. And why does body fat make people do heavier squats? Does it have to do with your bodies hormone levels? I was just wondering because I thought it's the muscle that matters.

Anyway, thanx for posting these vids.

  • hey man, i'm trying to get cut up for spring/summer.. i used to be able to do 405 but i haven't in a while now trying to lose the weight.. if you could message me with some tips that'd be great... squats were smooth.. look great man

  • Those safeties don't look... so safe. LOL

  • Not the best form. But pretty good.

  • nice focus

  • weird man, u look less asian with ur hair like that.. that's interesting... BTW how important is a weight belt?

  • jeez with that hyped up beginning woulda thought he was squatiinalot more lol @405 raw

  • nice squatting, strong stuff...

  • 183 kg

  • Having the camera on make one lift harder! LOL

  • damn you are so sexy

  • Nice job! I'd love to get to that point with my squats.

  • Crazy strong. Especially after just coming off a show.

  • Respect. One of the best Vietnamese-American bodybuilder I've ever seen. Keep it up, keep it real.

  • will do

  • @roughneckasian

    you are one strong dude.

    rock n roll man

  • @buzzkilling cause there ant any others

  • nice one, i did however injure my back doing squats and deadlifts, too heavy, too soon with bad form, resulted in a major prolapsed disc at l5 s1 and a microdiscektomy op, still my damaged nerve causes daily pain, however i am bad training, though mainly just upper body for now, so my advise it build up very slowly and mantain good flexibility (yoga/pilates) is great for this and seated dumbell squats to a bench are a good start of.

  • kickass dude, inspiring

  • what kind of cam are u using?

  • squating is great but i injured my lower back with bad form. do you have any advice on how to recover properly. any leg exercises similar to squats that dont put much stress on lower back?

  • do more mobility exersices. most likely you did not have enough mobility and flexability in your hams, glutes and lower back. Also you hip flexors could be very tight, so some myofascitis release. hope this helps. as for an great exersice is the barbell front squat. hope this helps

  • OOOO look at that cute booty of his!!!!

  • Tuan congrats on 2nd place! you most definitely deserve it with all the work you put in the gym! I wish you all the best!

P.S. I think you look better with shorter hair lol

  • thanks for the comment and will make a note with the hair

  • woah! Tuan you are my f'ing hero. it seems you never have a breakdown to any of these childish and immature comments posted. you know how to keep it cool and are pretty nice to everyone no matter how heated the comment to you was. you must be a really good friend to have. and a good training partner to have :)

  • it took time. in some of my older vids, i did let it get to me but i have gotten alittle wiser throughout time. thanks for the positive feedback and i will try to keep it up

  • if all you have is something neg. to say, why even watch my vids and say anything to begin with. i can see you have some aggression built up. i hope you find a way to release that before it gets to a point where you may seriously harm someone

  • nice and smooth

  • thanks for the comment

  • tuan, how many cals you eat a day,and whats your diet consist of??im finishing a cut and im a beginner, but i really want to bulk up for next year!!any advice???

    many thanks

    mark.

  • good lifts, but get a spotter next time!!! especially if you're testing weights!

  • normally i would, but its pretty dead on a sunday at the gym. but as i did commented in the video, the safty bars are set up and i would be fine if i did hit failure. but yes, spotters are hlghly recommended. good comment

  • tuan, are you on bodyspace?

  • Comment removed

  • thought id let you know; yesterday, after several years of never lifting anything above 320lbs...i deadlifted (which allows a little more stability and insurance than squat) 360lb off the floor, twice, without a weight belt throughout the workout .

this morning, my back doesn't feel sore at all...hopefully, ill feel the hypertrophy as the day goes forward...my next goal is to get my squat to 360 w/out a belt as well....

lesson learned: im stronger than I thought; thanks for ur philosophy!

  • thats great to hear. keep it going. it makes me very happy to hear that you have been able to learn something from my vids and gives me more motivation to keep going myself.

also, thanks 4 the support against SuperHulk7777, 4 some reason, he can only have a neg. view of what i am trying to do here vs. you who has found some worth from them. honesty, i have a vid up when i was 14, and the fed. i have competed in, what more can i really do. but thanks for believeing in me and keep it going

  • glad to hear you care; i like the fitness community that way. definitely keep on going!

yeah, he's a 31 year old wannabe who's never done anything spectacular in his entire life. shoot, that was the age i first learned about weight training....

    no problem, will do!

  • nice technique

  • watch "Tuan Tran How I looked at 14 Years Old."

you can also look up all these different Federations.

NGA, FAME, Musclemania, WBDLF, USA Powerlifting, UT Invitational Powerlifting, Aggie Invatational Powerlifting.

i will stay above the childish name calling and let my actions speak for my self.

Just some stats: 165 to 168 lbs at 14 . Now after 15 years of consistant training at the age of 28, powerlift at 198, and bodybuild at 178.

  • You know, all you are doing is misleading young people, that's it. I was there too one day, where I believed guys like you, then I found out the real deal about bodybuilding. You know when you looking at the mirror you know what you are. That's all I have to say.

  • i was looking for squat vids and i came across yours. your form is decent enough to prevent injury. so its good. but this superhulk guy has problems. you cant just judge a person even though others say the same and lie. i get the same from people all the time saying i use stuff. i started out at 155 and now im 180 at your bodyfat comp. after 2yrs of training. factors can be genetics and what not etc. but anyways great stuff. keep doing what you do.

  • I'm all natural...after...3 years of dedicated lifting, im deadlifting 360 off the floor without a belt, bench over 230lbs and can row just about that much....i don't care if he IS lying, he' still an inspiration to watch.

  • tuan u ever get advertised on a supplement...i mostly see the guys that are on steroids on the supplements its a big joke.

  • he's everywhere else...Google his name...Tuan Tran and he's on the map...

  • no weight belt??? you're insane...id defecate my colon out trying that....wtf.

  • i am a big believer of not using support items like belts and wraps if one truly wants to see how strong they are. too many times i see guys becoming to dependent of support items, and not able to even come comes to what they normaly train with without the items at had (suits, belt, wraps...etc). if you are hurt, that is one thing, but use support only once in a while and when going extremely heavy, not all the time or even 75% of the time for that matter.

  • that takes balls to believe in. i might just try that philosophy out...

  • im 189, stuck at 350 for maybe 3 reps...for some reason...i just can't seem to get it any higher. and im a trainer as well...so, it's embarassing when clients want me to prove that i know what im doing (only one time, but it was sad)...it's a part-time thing...and it's demotivating as hell.

  • if you are a trainer, then I suggest you do more research on powerlfting assistance exercises. there are exercises that helps with every aspect of the squat from the top to the bottom and everything in between. also, your squating technique maybe off all together, so that my be your limiting factor if you have be muscleing the wt up all these years and without better technique, you will never overcome 350.

i too had to relearn how to be a better squater back in college. but dont give up

  • those i had never heard of, so, i was surprised when a Texas lifting coach had actually categorized them for 'bottom of squats'/'top of squats'/in between.

ive always been very careful with my squatting technique; but indeed, i probably can revise it.

thanks for the advice, lift hard and continue to be an inspiration!

  • you might mess with the training frequency as well as adding in box squats, band training or lockouts with heavy weight. stir up your system. push it to overcome that barrier

  • our gym doesn't have bands...im not heartbroken if i don't buy them;

as for box squats..i might start training a little with them...just to piss my body off. thanks for the tips, i like how as a trainer i have to be reminded about common sense exercises....it's terrifying to be honest : )

  • Yea, I believe there's ways were you can also use the fitness bands with the handles and though the resistance isnt as high it has the same effect of creating more force powering through the difficult ROM on the lift. You might set the pins high and put on 50-100lbs more than your max and just stand out of the supports with that weight, do a couple small ROM reps to get a feel for scary heavy weight and the next set with your regular weight will feel like a walk in the park

  • yes, the good old walk out method. I do those later as i get my weight back out. the overload training principles are great, but yes, it is scary when you see how much weight you are using. as for bands and boxes, we have those too. but the only thing about the bands, just alot of time to set up, but very intense once you get it going. great for builing up your lock out power. but very good comment. glad to see others out there sharing what they know.

  • kicking ass again

  • ROOOOARR!!!

  • If i tried lifting that barbell, i'd die.

  • werd up man.

  • Hey Tuan. Love you, love your videos. You are the nicest guy around.

  • hey tuan i been taking Universal Storm, Optimum Whey Protein for about 3 months now. What supplements do u recommend for an intermediate bodybuilder?

  • always Glucosamine Chondroitin MSM, multi Vit. Vit C, BCAA, Flax Seed Oil and Glutamine are ones I use year round reguardless how I am training.

  • Is MSM just for your joints or does it have other uses?

  • a hundred dollars he'll say 'none'.

  • damm you r ripped man...

  • only because i got done with a bodybuilding contest. will not be as ripped in a few months.

  • Oh my gosh, Tuan, the exercise looks so painful!

  • felt every bit of the pain you saw...lol. but somethings you got to feel some pain to know that you are alive. thanks for the comment and good luck. keep me posted

  • Hey Tuan did it take several years of working out to acquire the body you have today? I'm just wondering because I've only been working out for just over a year. I started kind of late. I just want to know how long it will take for me to build the body I want.

  • so if you need to go up to 8% body fat

what was your body fat in the competition

  • i am about 2% for bodybuilding.

  • hey tuan how many people come up to u and ask for ur autograph/Picture?

  • lol, not many. i am not famous

  • Sup Tran, I noticed you featured nearly everyone else in your video while you were at the competition except the winner. What was his name...show the brotha some luv...lol??

  • what r u talking about, i have a vid with them giving us the placings and trophies and it has the first place winner on it. the vid is called " Tuan Tran 2nd Place Middle Weight/Chris Heitman 4th Place Light Weight @ Musclemani."

also, i am in the competition, how would i be able to video the guy when i am right next to him on statge, this videos are from my friends. you need do alittle more research and watch the other vid before making such comments.

  • Okay, so I've been told I have chondromalacia in my left knee and the orthopedic surgeon said no more squats or leg extensions for me EVER. I can do "wall" squats with a stabilizer ball behind my back. Do you think I can actually get any growth from that?

  • very nice video. cant wait to see u when ur in ur power lifting body. thats gonna be very impressive! go heavy or go home lol. could u make ur next video like a 2 or 3 rep max straight bar deadlift?

  • Comment removed

  • make a videos of you gel your hair!

  • That was awesome... as always your a role model for all of us naturals

  • Could you please make a nutritional video?? I mean that's half the work right? Besides training.

    Thanks!!!

  • Congratulations with your second place. Well done.

What is your 1 rep max on squats?

  • in college when i played 1 year of football, 605 was my best. right now, i just trying to get back to 550. doubt i will ever get the 605 ever again

  • tuan, how many years does it take for u to get to 4 plates on squat?

  • i was doing 4 plates in last year in high school

  • they're always playing techno music in that gym. =D

  • thats damn good with no support. especially when your all natural. way to go.

  • Do work son!!!

  • U SOOO Inspire me! god bless

  • I want to see what you eat man, make some nutritional vids! Show me what you eat in a day.
