I used to make up any excuse to go over to my neighbor's house so that I could play with his kid sister's spectra doll. She was so cool! My mom wouldn't let me have one because I was a boy!

@PrincessIvoryCrane Spectra was sold either in a packaging with just the doll, or a gift set with the doll and her dog. There where also three friends and boy doll we can take must be Spectra's boyfriend as well as some fashions and a few playsets.

@harliette I do not think there was a Spectra cartoon, if there was then please let me know, I would love to see it. The toy line was not popular and it only ran for a year. I think there was only the dolls and no cartoon tie in, though I might be wrong about that.

i finally found this! it was my favorite doll for a while.... we had this old toy store that was like a white castle type building and they had her over by the moondreamers and i got her instead of more moondreamers cuz i loved it so much (or maybe it was cheaper and my mom made me?) i think i just loved it. anyway been searching forever for the name and finally found it.

Oh wow!! I have been looking high and low for this doll!! I had her and the blue one I believe as a kid and i loved them because they moved easily and they were different than all the barbies. Now i hope to find and purchase them for my daughter. Wish me luck!!

Does anyone know what the clear doll was called? She has blue joints, and a normal head with pink hair but no sparkles.. (the body parts are clear with silver glitter in them) i've had this doll since i was a kid.. and i remember she's a spectra, but i never see pictures of her anywhere. Thanks!

@Nyvissa Are you sure your doll where a Spectra? There where only five Spectra dolls and none of them had clear bodies. Spectra herself have pink hair but her hair is sparkly. Could it be an Aurora doll you are looking for, some of them had glitter bodies, and no sparkles in their hair. There was a pink haired one, her name was Crysta. Aurora was a rival doll to Spectra made by Tonka.

I remember having this doll and the little dog. I thought it was so cool at the time, but I tossed them out when I was 12. Now I regret it since they would have been a fun item to pass down to my kids :(

Had I been younger when this came out (I was 16 and past toy age), I so would have wanted this series! It just seems like the kind of toy I would like. If I find one for sale, I'll try to get it! FYI, the line only lasted one year (1987), [I have the "Mattel 30 Years of Fashion Dolls (1967-1997)" book] and didn't even appear in the retailer catalog for 1988.
