The Coton de Tulear is in the "bichon" family. If anything, it looks like a Maltese and Bichon Frise. No resembles of a terrier or Shi zhu. There are 7 types of Bichons. 1. Maltese, 2. Bichon Frise, 3. Coton de Tulear, 4. Bolognese, 5. Havanese, 6. Löwchen and last but not least, 7. the Bolonka. The bichon type dogs are famous for being in the circus and being on ships to hunt down rats that were the cause of the Plague. Great dogs.

i'm planning to gift my mom a dog, i've been browsing through these dog videos and i'm liking this dog so far bcoz it's healthy and not very tiring to own since it doesn't require much exercise, i'm just not sure if the coat sheds very often, they only mentioned that it gets easily tangled together. can somebody confirm if it's a heavy shedder.

I watch two Coton de Tulears for my neighbor and they're the sweetest things! They stand up on their hind legs all the time just randomly and I never knew it was a regular thing for the breed, haha!
why do people awnna get a specific dog when so many different kinds are at shelters? please adopt, even if it means 200$..same price as you will spend at a pet store but you are saving a life

So maybe that's the diff. Be really they could be the same dog with different names. Like the wiener dog is also known as a dashund. I hope I helped, but I know I wasn't so specific. :|
No, cotons are different from the maltese in that they're usually bigger and a little more stockily built. They look pretty similar, but it's like saying alaskan malamutes are the same as siberian huskies.

but i was lucky and had the chace to save a coton de tulear from an abuser.
