@aboo12195 its not cheesy or silly at all, its what bands want, for there music to make people feel better and good about what has past and whats to come

Can we stop saying one artists music is better then anothers. All art including music, is subjective. That said, April is the best album of the last decade..In my opinion, of course. :)
@EliteSpartan633; joemanYT i agree w/ denomoses lol specimens of idiots are people who lose track of the music... just listen to the message of the song... is it talking about the grave consequences of not adding an E to a word! or correcting someone? WHY WHY WHY!!! listen! just please LISTEN!!!
Great song, very powerful, and i catch myself thinking his lyrics sometimes during the day. Yes Sir Kozelek keep it up, and i hope you always have inspiring lyrics to write and put into music, otherwise my eyes and ears will well up with the lost verses that couldve been..
@EliteSpartan663 soz man , just saying you were the one who insulted me in the first place calling me an english teacher , and then now you call me a jerk ?
@EliteSpartan663 Ahh dude he said he liked the song and then you critisised his spelling then called him an idiotic specimen... i think he has the right to call you a jerk and anyway everyone should just chill and enjoy the music.
I didn't even realize this was the guy from Red House Painters til I checked them out on wikipedia to find out their albums. Definitely can hear it now though.
i listen to just about everything except rap, hiphop, n all that new stuff... not trying to say you suck if you listen to it, its your taste in music not mine....
@MrCKrool me too, and im not one bit ashamed to say it; im overjoyed i found this music, no matter how it came to be. i couldnt have asked for a greater reward for playing video games than being introduced to beautiful and breathtaking music. it began with chrono cross, and continues onward into the new-gen consoles with GoW. just one more reason im thankful to be a gamer.
@Anzaldua3012 no its not! If this music makes you feel great its not important how you found it! If you like it, you like it and THIS is what is important, not how you found it.
I find it stupid that people think that finding a band from a certain source is a shame, lets say i found it accidentaly, so ? does that make me a more true fan then others ?
Sun Kil Moon is like a more consistently mellow, slightly less folk-y counterpart to The Avett Brothers. Both are so great. If you like one, chances are you'll like the other.
If you crossed The Avett Brothers with Nick Drake, do you get Sun Kil Moon? Worth pondering.
His songs always make me think about someone leaving important things behind, and literally driving away, looking through the window... I have no idea why, but I love it.
i was a little disappointed with 'April'. As good as it was, i kind of wish Mark didn't revert back to the RHP styie of writing songs that overstay their welcome.
This song is great, but the last 2 or so minutes could have easily been jettisoned without effecting the mood and feel of the overall piece.
'Ghosts Of The Great Highway' is his best work IMO. Better than anything he recorded with RHP.
Can you recommend me good cds by this guy? I downloaded an album when he was with RHP but idk... And I'm too nervous to bite the bullet and buy one of his cds out of fear it'll suck.

I'd be happy to recommned the self titled RHP record with the Rollercoaster cover, or the Bridge cover. Same sessions, two albums. Down Colorfull Hill is very good too, as is the 4ad-issue 'Retrospective"...1996's "Songs For A Blue Guitar" is the one true bridge between old Kozelek and modern Kozelek. However, I should add, I love everything he does. But those mentioned, especially.
I love Kozelek's new stuff, but part of me wishes he'd forget this understated pretty stuff and go back to the wrenching angst of his first few releases (i.e. songs like "Medicine Bottle," "24" and "Funhouse"). Oh well...guess he's grown up. This song's great, though
1) His album Tiny Cities was just a cover of modest mouse songs. Although I admit he transformed them into something entirely different and much more beautiful than as they were originally written, he did not write them.
2) Sam Beam is easily the best songwriter of this generation due to the scope and measure of his work.
Don't get me wrong, I love Mark, but I can't honestly believe that his body of work could hold a candle to that of Iron and Wine let alone Sufjan Stevens.
a nine minute opening is classic kozelek only he can pull something off like that these days, so no suprise there. Most massively talented bands have at least one hauntingly beautiful song on each album. This group is different.
Every single song on this album is inexpressibly moving. Soul stirring.
The fact that this band is not well known speaks volumes about most people's "tastes" in "music."

"I haunt the streets of San Francisco
