  • @baddogengineering blah blah boring boring enjoy the destruction

  • Dam xD

  • I doubt if a 250 foot chunk of Debris will be thrown about a half mile as depicted here, but impressive nonetheless.

  • oh what? where were all the drowning bodies? :(

  • Las Vegas and southern California are two of the biggest customers who waste the Colorado river water supply.

Casinos on the LV strip need to turn a dry, hot desert city into a tourist trap complete with artificial lakes that evaporate more water than natural rainfall replenishes.

Southern California needs the water so that rich people can build $500K-$1M homes on arid land located in the LA/Orange County/San Diego metro area.

  • @nightfrog65 And don't forget the golf courses! What hot, arid desert region is complete w/o water-sucking, polluting golf courses of lush green grass dependent irrigation, combined with plenty of fungicides and herbicides that percolate down to the aquifer? Screw the wildlife, aquifers and sustainability, as long as yuppie scum get their round of 18 in while playing masters of the universe w/ their scummy clients. Yeah, good plan there.

  • Hoover dam, is not gonna crack. It might get hot and crack but the water level is getting so low that, it won't crack cause of water

  • That half ton chunk of debris that flies out at 0:01.

    "Pew!"

  • Here, step into here. It's cooler. [Opens closet]

  • ok now that was bigger than the other guys dam collapse so i like you

  • I damn fucking want the Hoover Dam to crack. It would look SO COOL :D No, I do not want people to get hurt.

  • Thumbs Up If FNV Sent You Here

  • MS Paint + windows slideshow... lmao...

  • do the same thing with jet fuel and the twin towers and see if they turn to dust on your simulator.

  • If the hoover dam really broke, it would flood all the way to Arizona and even there it would most likely be waist high

  • please tell me one thing..... did you made the breakable parts of the dam a rigid body.... then simulated the water.....??? waiting eagerly for an answer

  • does realflow simulate each particle separately, or does it use a supersampling or hash algorithm or something to increase speed?

& did you use Voronoi shattering for the dam, or is it made of particles too?

    Anyway, great simulation

  • TERRORISM!

  • Very realistic!

  • They did not use Blender. They used a program called RealFlow

  • I did that!.

  • I've gotta take a piss now.

  • Even with a full reservoir, the water would never shoot forward like that, nor would it launch locomotive-sized blocks of concrete a thousand feet into the air. Hoover Dam is exceptionally strong as dams go. It's the only dam on the Colorado that could be overtopped and survive (although the powerhouses would be destroyed).

  • @Mxsmanic yeah but who gives a shit it looks cool :)

  • wow all i have too say is wow

  • FYI MOST DAMS Built 40+ years ago are susceptible to Failure and it wont take much if bridges are collapsing and most old dams are patched multiple times a year and cores are drilled and filled all the time so as my Army Corps of engineering Grandpa Buster Told me that all it would take to cause a failure is a well placed explosive charge at the base and all hello would break loose

  • @pastorgeorgem NO and No, followed by NO WAY.

  • @pastorgeorgem well hello to you too.

  • @elronman typo LOL you had to catch that didn't ya Lol

  • GLA at it again?

  • WERE DID YOU GO AND DID YOU HAVE TO PAY

  • @tyreke123456789 i think he or she used blender its a free animation software which you can download just type in blender.org you can check things out by typing in blender tutorials in youtube

  • Split second ftw!!

  • well that was ummmmm short. I was expecting to see the entire dam break and watch the flood downstream or something. but hey. not to shaby other wise. Im actually surprised the dam hasnt been attcked yet. It would cause A LOT of damage and death.

  • @bobby472 well thanks for puttin that out there for every terrorist to see. now maybe it might happen.

  • @bobby472 it's not that easy to destroy a dam, you can' just go jihad and blow yourself up, you need military especial bombs.

  • @bladerj or a hammer and chisle :-)

  • FAKE!

  • @yannique Hahaha....you figure that out all by yourself ?

  • @yannique not its not. It was video taped in real time.

  • very good

  • Good. The program name is BLENDER

  • Good try. The piece at 0:05 should have come straight in the camera...

  • Gayer than Clay Aiken. And that's really GAY!

  • that was gay

  • ya, just wait a few years, then there won't be any water in lake mead to flood anyone

  • Stupid. What would be nice would be Glen Canyon dam broke like it almost did in 1983, and take out all of the other dams downriver, restoring the flow of water all of the way back to the gulf of California. Restoring all of the wetlands and making the price of golfing in the desert cost what it is worth, 500 birds per 18 holes.

    Long live George Heyduke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, impressive modelling.

  • water is very very powerful

  • Hey Guys does anyone knows which software is this? because i need it for my final project in the university. Thank you.

  • @GKEKASAKRATA

    Maya and RealFlow

  • This is a combination of Maya and Realflow, as it says in the comment. Just to let you know, Maya costs hundreds of dollars unless you torrent it.

  • Maya and Realflow

  • bye bye las vegas =(

  • the water would flow away from vegas into arizona. but your right about vegas drying up and all but disappearing without any water

  • well this thing wouldnt happen like this!!you see the strenght of water is on the weight of water and speed of it that means the pressure of water so it means the water would start to breach from the top not the middle because the middle of Hover dam is strongest and it would spread to sides not down at the begging but later it would cut into dam!!:D just my opinion

  • December 21

  • that could happen in December 24th, 2012. if the movie were real. I hope not.

  • NO THATS UR IMAGINATION BUT DON'T WORRY IT WILL NEVER TAKE PLACE

    Good Luck

  • ok for one never underestimate the power of water.....but ur right this ones fake and its can not happen

  • why did a simulation become a magnet for the most illiterate, douchebag morons on youtube?

    it's a simulation. a "what if".

  • Fact to all the noobs and people that are borr stupid hoover dam would be the last place to generate electricity and the last standing landmark if humans were to vanish of the face of the earth

  • The water is never that high on the dam due to the overflows on each side. This video cannot happen as depicted.

  • incorrect the water has actually overflowed once as i visited hoover dam couple years back and sat through a presentation it has happed over the period of weeks or months worth researching i guess

  • Ohmigawd.

I live in Bullhead City! (Across From Laughlin)

    This is fucking scary!

I hope this never happens in my lifetime!

    Dx

  • llamahamfat's balls should be smashed to red pulps by horned messengers from ganymede

  • no fuck u go fuck ur self u just want it to happen because u dont live there so fuck off

  • I think you need to make the reservoir-side water level start lowering as the collapse occurs.. :) It appears as if the water level stays the same.

  • The water level WOULD stay the same. ....for a LONG time. Have you ever seen lake Meade?! Damn thing took thirty years or so to fill up. It's not gonna empty in a few hours, or even days.

  • it would if the damn just blew up or disappeared

  • I wonder if they used this simulation to create the Hoover Dam breakage scene in 10.5: Apocalypse?

  • my balls hurt now :(

  • calm down

  • DONT TOUCH MY DRUMSET!!!!

  • WTF!?!?!?

  • SSTEP BROTHERS?

  • @FilmPA hahahahahahaha

how do people come up with this kind of comment?

  • cool

  • Ha that was werid but is it will destroy Las Vegas?

  • i dont think so, vegas is a while away.

  • but it could in the simulation

  • Vegas is pretty close, but not downstream. Laughlin on the other hand would be a sight to see.

  • With Hoover Dam failing (a very remote possibility with the low level of Lake Mead), the Davis Dam outside of Laughlin would pop like a cork.

  • that's really cool?can u please tell what did u use for modelling?

  • The dam model is built with Maya. The fluid and dynamics simulation is done with Realflow

  • @barbarosseferde its endorphin

  • Mooi man :)

    ziet er goed uit ;)

  • that was cool
