  • So Far, Champion John Goss has a Total of $655 in his Bank Account. If He Wins the Game with $95, John will have a Total of Over $131,000 in Cash and Prizes, Including a Cash Jackpot of $72,000. Watch John go for it All, Next on "SALE OF THE CENTURY".

  • This Has to be my Favorite Episode of Sale of the Century.

  • was John single at the time?

  • 23 grand for that car...YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING!!

  • @emodrmmr007 Only on Sale of the Century!

  • When did Summer debut on the daytime show 1984?

  • @danbarker39 yes December 1984

  • To me, $ale of The Century was... THE quintessential '80s game show, simply for the fact that it captured EVERY aspect of the decade. The show was constantly brimming with glitz, glamor, decadence, and most of all... an ever-present aura of greed. Perfect! $ale was a winner in every regard; Temptation, on the other hand... lol. ;-)

  • I remembered this game show "$ale of the Century" with Jim Perry, back when I was 4 years old.

  • I'm Very Happy that John Goss got the $95 he needed, in order to win all those Prizes, plus that $72,000 Cash Jackpot.

  • If i could host Sale of the Century, I'd bring back the Instant Bargains, the Fame Game, the 60 Second Speedround, and yes, the Shopping Game.

I would even bring back the Really Cool Podium where Jim Perry stood at.

  • I loved this Version of "Sale of the Century" because it took $750 or more to win all those Prizes, plus the Cash Jackpot. Altogether, all that stuff is worth over $100,000.

  • This is in great condition. Thanks.

  • thanks, it does look pretty good for a VHS transfer, the codecs have gotten much better.

  • Do you have any more $ale of the century episodes?

  • @mittdawson And to think, when this came out (ovanight on Channel 7 in Chicago and even on USA) I had a Beta VCR. Nice clip nonetheless.

  • Yep. Along with a $68,000 cash jackpot and $11,045 she won in the main game during her championship, she also won a $3,242 holiday in New England, a $5,000 fur coat, a $9,025 living room ensemble, a $13,000 gold lion's head necklace, a $17,850 electric boat, and a $24,527 Cadillac Eldorado, which gave her a grand total of $151,689!

  • I wanna see that episode if someone has it.

  • Is Barbara Philips the only person on the daytime vertsion to go all the way?

  • yes

  • now this is what The REAL $ALE of the century sounds like! a GREAT show!

  • John Goss was also on "Now You See It", "$25,000 Pyramid" (w/Audrey Landers & CHARLES Siebert in 1983), and on "Liar's Club".

  • Oh, my God, dude. This makes me miss old school USA so much, you just have no idea... :.)

  • man it makes me miss old school USA too
