  • I am about to start reading Mexica for the first time. I purchased it some years ago on a trip to Mexico so it's in Spanish (i speak spanish too) and finally today I decided to start reading it. Has any one here read it? Is it good? Feedback? Thanks

  • Merci. Your works have been incredible Truths couched in Fiction. Mon treasure book is rare hardcover "Agent of Chaos" found new sat years untouched. Best Wishes.

  • Reading "Riding The Torch" now, just a perfect work. Hey, I like novellettes. Wish more writer worked in short form . . .

  • FWIW, my fave is The Void Captain's Tale.

  • Thxs!!!

    South Aegean Sea

  • Thanks for this run-through, Norman, I have read most of the earlier novels - but I have a lot of catching up to do.

  • Whoa! Thank you! I wanted to order, buy and read The Iron Dream, Riding the Torch and Passing Through the Flame right away but they are pretty hard to get! Dammit!

  • Wow, it's very cool to see THE Norman Spinrad here on YouTube. I also enjoyed reading your book reviews/essays in Asimov's SF in the 90's.

  • "The Iron Dream" was one of the best books I have ever read. I have read it at least 5 times. "Deus X" was a bit poor, though.

  • Some of the classic chronicles of the culture of the last 30 years. Bug Jack Barron. The Mind Game. Passing Through The Flame. Child Of Fortune. Little Heroes. Really, you could trace the evolution of his generation with his novels...

  • If you can find it, check out his novella "La Vie Continue" in the OTHER AMERICAS collection. Fantastic and fascinating piece of work, in which a future version of author himself is the main character.

  • I just found out he wrote one of my favorite Star Trek episodes from the original series, "The Doomsday Machine"

  • "Bug Jack Barron" is one of my favorite Spinrad books, a trifle dated, perhaps, but still fun for those of us who remember something of the hippie days. I sometimes have the urge to call up Bill O'Reilly and ask him if this is what he's trying to pull off, but I'm afraid of giving him any ideas. Anyway, Norman, it's great for us old SFers to see you on here.

  • Child of Fortune is a book I have to read every few years.

  • Norman Spinrad is one of my favorite author for 15 years now. I didn't read everything he wrote but i loved Bug Jack Baron, Little Heroes, the Mind game and my favorite the Russian Spring. Vampire Junkie is a really good fun. I read others too but cannot remeber their titles in english.

He's really anticonformist (well for an american) ;o)

It's cool to see Mister Spinrad on YouTube there's not too much about him over the internet and i don't think he often gives interviews.

  • I've never heard of this guy before. After watching him here on YouTube I'm inclined to read some of his past books, and look forward to his new work on the middle east. he is most definately worth listening to, and I encourage you to do so.
