The T-34 was just "decoration" for the memorial celebration. The rioters attacked the scene, seized the tank, got some petrol for it. But it was engough only for 200-300 meters.

Hungarian military doesn't use tanks from WW2. The oldes tanks are T-55's for training purpose. And there is twelve T-72. Those are the last armored units of the country.

The other 75 tank was given to the Iraqi Army as some aid. The army plans to get some improved AT rocket technology instead.

The army won't consider the T-80 or T-90's because the country is in the middle of an economic crisis, and the army is busy supplying our troops in Afghanistan and Kosovo. Those old Russian Antonov transport planes eat a lot of petrol, so it costs a lot of money to get those guys decently supplied. The Hungarian army focuses on armored vechiles, mainly on BTR-80's for rapid troop deployment and fast transport purposes.
