  • um this is stuiped u dont need to take it apart to clean it u only need is to get a gun cleaning kit and go from there

  • @swagman420 Are you kidding? Even with a cleaning kit, you still take it apart to clean the trigger group... I truely feel bad for your 10/22 if you own one. You obviously don't take care of it.

  • mys been shot so much the main pin (3rd) has become jamed

  • it doesnt matter which way the pins come out

  • If that's a man he has some girl hands

  • Good video, however you should run the patch in the same direction as the bullet travels...;0

  • great video! you might want to add a little bit more detail on getting that pesky charging handle spring back in. it goes in much easier once it lines up with that slot in the bolt. spend a lot of time messing with it.

  • Thank you for making this video.

  • I just wipe down the outside and clean the barrel and magazine well....

  • Short sweet and to the point. Great help, with out any "fluff".

  • My new 10/22 Carbine will arrive next wed. I have owned many different types of firearms but never a 10/22. So I guess that makes me a 10/22 virgin. Thanks for the video lesson. I figure if I can break down an M-16 as many times as I have this should be a snap. It's all in the know how. Now I know how. Great video. Thanks again.

    Tom

  • Awesome video. I just broke mine down and gave it a good cleaning for the first time. it was a MOTHER F@#$ER to get that recoil spring back into place so I could get the bolt back in. lol. sure was easier to take apart :p

  • i don't know if its just mine but the trigger assy. is a little "wobble" as well as the bolt handle is this normal or should i be worried?

  • Both parts of this video are very informative...thanks for your time.

  • my pins come out via either side, not on the bolt side, does it matter, i did buy it used, and i think its from the 80's

  • what should you do if that first pin won't come out?

  • I was thinking of getting either this and putting an archangel stock on it, or the the Smith and Wesson M&P15-22. Can anyone help me out?

  • thire are gust as meny videos on the 1022 as there ar made lol

  • awesome job on the "HD" photos to help explain what you mean, as the camera dosen pick up as much detail

  • Great video

    I love your fingernails!

  • so the only way it will fire again is for me to manually eject the round and re-chamber a new round my pulling the bolt handle back....it did it everytime,, i would not shoot 2 rounds back to back....PLEASE HELP...the gunsmith looked a bit confused as well (pretty old man)...do u think i should send it to ruger to take a look at it??do they offer any warranty at all??? thnx

  • i think i got defective 10 22..i just my rifle about 3 weeks ago and took it to the range today and after 50 shots it started jamming every other round..the gunsmith took it apart and re-cleaned everything and we tried diffrent kinds of ammo and still no luck..i would chamber the 1st round by pulling the bolt handle back and it will shoot fine, the spent shell ejected and re-chambered itself but the trigger would not re-engage itself for the next round as if the bolt handle were never pulled bck

  • I have two new Ruger 10/22's and I never broke them in or cleaned them prior to shooting them only 1 jam out of 600 rounds using Walmart's cheapest ammo. Don't waste your time.

  • Just wanted to thank you for the video. Much more informative than anything put out by Ruger. I broke in my barrel just as you said in the video. I shot Winchester High Velocity and had about 3 Failure to Feeds. I am going to try Federal tomorrow. Someoned told me Federal is what Ruger tests their 22s with. Thanks again for the video and I like the close up still shots.

  • I have a feeling Kick is in jail....Havent heard form him in awile. Or I think he hooked up with a Russian trampolinist...HAHAHA Wink Wink...if your out there Kick you know who I am...LOL !!!!

  • i cant seem to get the first pin out any suggestions?

  • Excellent video. Not to quick, not to slow. It helped me disassemble my 10 22 and clean it. Keep up the good work.

  • i just bought one of these and wanted to learn to take it apart before shooting it. i watched to actual ruger video on disassembly and reassembly. i got mine back together and didnt know why i couldnt cycle the bolt. took it apart and figured it out on my own at least. i watched this video after and it should have been the only one i watched. you were so kind as to mention the position the ejector needs to be in lol. awesome videos, and thanks for the posts! cant wait to watch more :D

  • Nice video. I pretty much do it that way too, only difference is I have a hard rod {No Pun Intended !} LOL, and I gotta do one wet patch going in from the muzzle, then all subsequent patches from the breech. It,s pretty much the same. I use Hoppes'

solvent after I shoot a lot, more than 100 rds. If I only blow off 50 to 100 I like the Remington Bight Bore. It's alot easier to remove than Hoppes'. Sometimes I'll even do Break Free for everything if im lazy, it works well too and protects good.

  • What size punch do you recommend using? 1/8th in.?

  • when i first got this i shot remington thuderbolts thruogh it i proubly shot 50 rounds trough it be for i got winchester wildcats then it worked flewless not a jam since

  • good video dude. i found metal shavings in the reciever just like you said to check for on the new 10/22 i picked up this past weekend. your video gave me the confidence to tear it down like i'd done it a million times before.

  • 5 stars for music :)

  • (continued from last comment) and i screwed the fine screws into the holes on the gun. as it turns out, i stripped the holes on the top of the gun... am I fucked or is there anything i can do to replace those threads any way? please either reply to this comment or send me a message. thanks.

  • well, today i bought a ruger 10 22. i brought it home and decided to try to put one of the pinnacy rails onto the top back for a scope mount. when i tried to screw it into the holes after i took the plugs out, the holes in the gun are about 1/8'' to far apart. so i went scavaging in the shop and found a small rail kit. the holes in the new rail were the right size and came with their own screws. i didnt notice that the screws had real fine threads and the gun had the bigger threads.

  • @Kedolomer if the standard larger thread screws dont hold with red locktight you may have to tap the holes out for larger screws and drill the rail to suit new screws

  • hay thank you for the video i never knew how to take off the bolt and clean it i had like thick grim and paint and dirt and crap clogn the rifle now to bolt moves smooth thank you!

  • @masterofpuppies666 I had the same issue, now I can scrub the hell out of it!

  • thank you so much

  • ok i just found one of these in my attic and it seems to shoot fine. but the firing pin is hitting kind of hi/low on the bullet... right around the rim.. sorry i r noob at these things

  • AWESOME video... replayed the video and took my gun out and followed it to a "T".. awesome... no problems at all.. NOW SHES NICE AND CLEAN!!

one addition to the video.. if your using your gun in COLD weather.. then use "SYNTHETIC GUN OIL" it helps to stop from jamming or gumming up in cold weather!!!

    take it from experiance

awesome man thanx soooo much again!!!!

  • Thanks for this video. You mentioned some stuff I didn't know, and will use on my new 10/22.

  • Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I bought a 10/22 two weeks ago and I will clean and then shoot it this weekend.

  • wow! I'M ANGRY!!!! my 10 22's pins are super hard to get out!!! and one is completely stuck!

  • I dissassembled my 10/22T tonight, just separated the barrel and stock but it took me about 20 seconds. It's super easy.

  • Good shit. Thanks dude.

  • Thanks for the vid! Great Job and now I know how to easily disassemble my 10/22

  • lady hands?

  • Great takedown video.

  • I have an odd problem with my Ruger 10/22 and maybe one of you guys can help. Lately when I am shooting the gun will shoot the first couple of rounds and then it seems to me the trigger does not re-engage after i pull the trigger. Sometimes i can pull it forward manualy but alot of the time not. As I shoot more it becomes increasingly worse. I take care of the gun quite well. My assumption was that i need a new spring for the trigger.

  • Is this necessary for a brand new one?

  • YO ADRIAN

  • I have a Ruger & the trigger got stuck and will not release! PLEASE HELP!!!

  • @civildisorder44 Dude, i dont have a ruger but if i were u i would watch this vid and take ur gun apart, then see what the prob is, if that dont work take itto a gun smith, and dude thats what comes o having a ruger.

  • That was great I'm a gun nut and have taken my 10/22 customs apart more times then I care to admit. If you don't you will run into trouble! I learned a few new things from you great job my friend!! And you don't need a $100 punch set and hammer to clean a freakin GUN! LOL

  • I meant 100% cotton vs hoppe's patches does it matter?

  • Also there is 100% cotton patches of those hoppe's patches does it matter

  • Thanks you so much for the vid I thought it was great. Wha do you think of those hoppe's bore snake that say it'll clean a bore in 10 seconds it has a built in bore brush

  • Comment removed

  • @shark61111 it comes with a rail mount.

  • whats your veiw on .22 rifle barrel cleaning. i clean mine every time and someone i know said never clean it casue accuracy will be lost

  • Someone you know is an idiot. Im geussing his gun jams alot. Yeah go ahead and dont clean your gun and see how long it lasts........

  • hey bro, what are some thought on low voc grease for the ruger?such as shooters choice?

  • Glock is the only gun I have owned that has never misfired ever. Even when I tried to make it malfunction by not cleaning it for two months.

  • I totally agree with you on that! I have 2 GLOCKS a 21 and 29. I Love Glocks! You just can't hurt unless you throw it in the fire place! And it would probebly still function...lol Good Stuff!

  • All my guns are Rugers at the moment. The ones I fired before I ever cleaned them malfunctioned consistently. Once I cleaned the factory grease off of them, they fired consistantly.

  • Thanks for sharing this man!!. I got my rifle today and your videos were vere helpful. I put an ATI Fiberforce stock on it and a a bolt stop buffer. Thanks!!

  • I wouldve soldya mine for free.

  • is that the shorter carbine 10/22? i was looking at all the 10/22's on ruger's website. and your's fits the same description as the shorter and light 10/22

  • I thought that too because of the rifle's lack of barrel band. But, if you look closely you can see the checkered pattern on the walnut stock identifying it as the Deluxe Sporter version.

  • do you really need to do this idc about perfect target acuuracy or tht havnt shot my ew .22 yet do i hav to do this cant i shoot like 150 rnds thn clean it

  • well i took mine out of the box and went straight to the range and shot 200 rounds out of it and it was fine i cleaned it after that

  • Can you buy a mod that will make the bolt stay back after the last round?

  • Not without substantial modification to the bolt and mgazine itself. You can however, get an auto bolt release which will release the bolt simply by pulling the charging handle back and letting it go rather than having to fiddle around with the release switch at the trigger guard base. they''re usually ~$10 and worth every penny.

  • well not really you can get an auto bolt release they are cheap and work really good

  • Talk to nutnfancy I think I remember him mentioning something like that in one of his videos

  • Yes... You can.. its CSI AUTO BOLT STOP.. they come with a modified magazine.

  • Thanks for GREAT video!!!!

Heres why, I got a new 10/22 and just lubed it up (simple cleaning) and shot 300 rounds of Blazer through it no problem. Then tried some cheap Eley and had 3 in 5 FTE.

Followed this 2 part video and polished inside of the receiver and got that FTE to 1 in 25.

YES I know I should use better ammo, but thats what I was able to find at that time.

    Keep up the great work.

P.s. I just subscribed to your channel as well.

  • Its cool we all know how it is right now , even 22LR ammo is getting hardder and hardder to find.

    Thanks for the support man

  • does it really matter what side the pins come out?? my pins were extremely stuck both ways i tried knocking them out from both sides nothing worked until i really hit it hard with a punch and a hammer

  • Big help. Thanks Mike.

    That bolt is a b*****

  • Ya it can be a b**** the first few times but once you understand what angle to put it back in it gets much easier.

  • Yeah. I finally gave it a good cleaning today. I shot 220 rounds through mine Sunday and was wigging out because it wasnt cleaned (Its brand new)

    Oh BTW,

    Check your PMs Mike.

  • Thanks a lot for this video. It was very informative.

  • what if you were retarded and just shoved your bore brush down the barrel without even cleaning it out with cloth first?

Is it too late for that barrel?

  • No it shouldn't hurt it , the cleaning you see me do in this is the way many match grade target barrels are cleaned and is kind of overkill for most people.

    The barrel should be fine.

  • There's not anything wrong with doing that I clean my Anschutz BR-50 like that. Its how my range master taught me.

  • @eitkoml It means your rifle is completely ruined and you should donate it to me!!

  • @FergusonTO35

Nice try, I had an ex marine corps sniper check it out when I was on the firing range. He said its fine.

  • Do you clean the barrel before breaking it in?

  • If its a new rifle then yes I would.

  • Im having a hell of a hard time getting one of the two clips out. Is there anything I can do to make that easier?

  • I'm not sure what your talking about man , I need more info to help you out.

  • I was having a hard time getting one of the two pins out that you said to hit with a punch. The first one came out with no problem, but the second one took about 15 min pure pounding. But thanks for the quick response.

  • Wow I never heard of them being hard to punch out , I hope you didn't ding up the pin to bad.

  • Dude. MJ? LOL!! Your vids rule, man. Just outta curiosity, when did you first start shooting?

  • I had to break out some MJ for at least one of my vids lol.

I started shooting air rifle when I was around 10 or 11.

  • informative...but the music has got to go...

  • Dude you are awesome. I have my dad's old 22 completely apart right now watching your video and this thing was nasty! thank you!

  • the pins actually come out either way

  • so i bout a ruger 10/22 compact, small one, if i dissassemble as shown, it wont effect accuracy???

  • no, the barrel and reciever stay in tact.

  • I just bought the Wal-Mart exclusive 10/22 and the trigger and housing is made of plastic. Do you recommend that I replace it with a new metal one?

  • Well I'm by no means going to say I like the new plastic ones but if it works and you don't have no problems with it , then stick with.

Now if you have the cash and can afford to then I would say , sure why not.

  • Thanks for the advice man.

  • great job thanks

  • Great video:)

But is it possible to break-in a .22LR?

The point of "breaking " a barrel is to "polish" the small tool marks that are left in the pipe after production. This is to avoid mantling (copper) is pushed down into these small wounds / tears in steel, and so builds up.

.22LR are lead bullets! Bullets without copper jacket may under no circumstances affect the barrel.

  • Very true but most modern 22LR ammo is jacketed or plated in some way , In facted most of modern so called round nose lead 22LR ammo is very hard cast lead that can acted like a jacted bullet in the barrel (AKA little to no leading in the barrel)

At least this is what I have been told by many bulleyes shooters "So overal do I feel breaking in a 22LR barrel needed? No but every little bit helps when trying to achieve accuracy

Thanks for watching man & thanks for the info

    Just my 2 cents

  • Dude i love you. theres not one other good video in how to clean a 10/22.

  • where can u find that fiber glass cleaning rod because i have been trying to find one for a long time

  • Tipton makes a nice carbon fiber rod.

  • thankyou, huge help

  • When using the "One Way" method with a brush attachment on a rod do you really take off the brush each time you come out of the barrel?

Would say that the cleaning portions of this video could be applied to all firearms?

  • Well you really don't have to take it as far as I do in the video but the main thing is not to cut into or damage in anyway the Crown of the barrel.

  • hell yeah billy jean

  • You named that rifle Billie Jean, didn't you?

  • lol Hey man I had to put some old school MJ music in at least one of my Vid's.

I still rock out to " Thriller " from time to time.

  • Nothing wrong with that! That was just my poor attempt at being funny. I'm still working my way through your vids. Great stuff!!!!!

  • You have the best videos out there. Very helpful. Definitely keep making them.

  • Thank you very much andyawol666

    Thanks for the support man

  • to keep the saftey in the middle you can fire it with a snap cap and if you push it it'll stay in the middle

  • great video, you went a little fast, but I would have been clueless otherwise

  • Very helpful for my 10/22. Thank you!

  • No problem man , thanks for watching.

  • i got a springfield 45. i know i need to clean it cuz it hasnt been cleaned in awhile but anyways do you know anyway of how to disassemble it cuz i dont want to fuck it up

  • Is it a Springfield XD or 1911?

  • wats funny?i said in comment "springfield"

  • No he's not making fun of you , he's asking if is a Springfield XD or a Springfield 1911.

Springfield makes both the XD & many 1911 models.

  • 1911....

  • hey i just broke in this gun just like you said. i had an eagle 30 round mag with me, so i tried it out. i didnt expect much because i had read some horrible reviews. it did suck, a jam on every 5th round or so...

what high cap mags (25 rd. or higher) do you recommend?

  • Well there is 2 types that I hear work pretty good. 1st one is a butler creek 25 round Steel Lips magazine ( Thats the one you see me using is this video ) their good because they work pretty good most of the time and yet are still some what cheap.

2nd one is what I hear is the best 10/22 Hi cap magazines you can buy and thats the TI25 MACHINED ALUMINUM 25 round magazines but they are very pricey ( Tactical Innovations Inc makes them ).

  • thats exactly what i thought..

they are the only ones that actually have good ratings on all the websites. thanks!

  • btw wtf was that in the background at 2:11 it sounded like cartman from southpark

  • i think you mean Tactical Solutions out of Idaho. the mags even come in fruity colors for all the crazy custom 10-22's out there.

  • Just a point I think you should have mentioned. The muzzle is the most important part of the barrel. If you screw up the crown it can effect accuracy dramatically. Thats why you want to clean barrels from the breach end to the muzzle.

  • Yes that is very true , thanks for mentioning.

  • Another superb video by Kickedintheballs2000! I ask this question not to be argumentative, but because I've always been curious: assuming the cleaning rod is aluminum or fiberglas, and the brush is either nylon or brass, how can the crown be damaged by cleaning from the muzzle?

Also, allow me to pass on some good advice about "dirty" ammo: never use Remington Thunderbolts! They will clog a barrel in less than a dozen rounds.

  • Has anyone bought a 10/22 lately? I've had several over the years but bought a brand new one recently. The quality has gone WAY down. The entire trigger group is now plastic as well as the barrel band.

  • Can you make a maintainance video for the AR-15?

  • hey where do you use the gun oil?

do you run it through the barrel?

  • Great Video Man!!!!

    Five Stars!!

  • Good MJackson audio this time! XD

  • lol I had to breakout some MJ in at least one of my videos.

  • "lol I had to breakout some MJ in at least one of my videos."

    It was jamming..

  • Aweseome! Your videos are very well made.

  • Oh one more thing do i have to take off the trigger assembly and bolt to clean it? and last question if i use cci round nose to break it in will my 10-22 get used to them and not load anythjing else?

  • Well for the first time cleaning it I would remove the trigger group & Bolt and clean ( Just to get all the factory junk out of there ) but after that you rarely have to do a full field strip to clean it.

My Ruger 10/22 is the only firearm I own that I rarely clean , let alone do a complete cleaning like that.

The Ruger 10/22 is a tough little thing.

  • Thank you so much man! im going to go break in my 10-22 today belive it or not!!! in just a couple of hours!!

  • thanks i have a 10/22 5/5

  • Once again. Excellent video.

  • Taking that thing apart is a *bitch*...especially as compared with my AK-47. Keep on putting out the videos, good job man!
