watched this vid and 10 mins later my golf is debaged, i already had a black vw badge on there so now it looks great with it, realy cleaned up the back of my mk3, THANK YOU
@wanctil i did leave the vw logo because on the mkv the place were the badge is its indented in. so that one i left i recently just painted it black. looks nice
@2iBMX No sir i do not. It looks a whole lot better and more stylish lol. No but seriously i don't it is a decision i do not regret! You should do it.
hi, nice vid. but i wanted to know exacty how to get off the middle VW badge. i have vw passat 2001 tdi and want to change the vw badge on my trunk. its chrome at the moment but want it black matt or carbon fibre looking one. let me know, cheers.
@UziTKD well im not sure for the passat but what i would do first is look underneath the trunk lid to see if its screwed in. if you dont see bolts holding it in then its just held down by glue. just do like we did in the video and it should pop off. you can always buy more 3m tape and put it back on =D hope it helped
Hey mate, you don't know if removing the VW logo will leave a massive depression do you? i have a 6n2 and dont fancy wanging it off to reveal a just as obvious round indent where the logo goes! Thanks, good vid btw.
@valenghi1 i dont think it should. when you debadge it you will be able to see. If it does or you dont like the way it looks debadged you can always go to your local autostore and buy some 3m tape and put it back on. tell me how it goes =D
@warguns18 - Thanks a bunch! I haven't started yet but im planning to do it this weekend, and my plan is to remove the badge and then buy a grill, and then stick the removed badge to the grill. Would you think that would look dumb?
How do you know if it has a post on the back on the badge? Because I got a 2003 jetta and i wanna take off the JETTA part. But i'm kinda cautious cuz i dont want to take it off then get fucked because there is not holes in the car........any ideas?
your best bet would be to open up the trunk then look at it from underneath. if its upholstered just take it off. usually the word jetta is just glued on but the sign could be on the little post things. so just look from the inside. as well if it has the little holes it shouldnt fall out if you were to use the floss. you would get caught on them. and if you were to take them off and it had holes just go to your local auto shop buy some 3m double sided tape and put it back on.
And k800imad to debadge that one you should do the same heat it up a bit dont ruin your paint and use a razor blade to get it started but ever so lightely not to chip your paint and just work on it the slower the better and it should be off. good luck! oh and that is my jetta my friend just put the video up for me
nickm456123 What you first should do is open your trunk and see from the inside if you have bolts holdding the vdub sign in, because some of the vdubs have them holding it in if not then all you do is heat it up with a heat gun but make sure you dont mess up your pain so not overly hot. put some wd 40 and use debadge it like a normal badge.
@ericdisney1 what glue ? do you mean when you rebadge something? if its when you rebadge its 3m double side. its the red roll you can get at autozone. works perfect!
I've got a 98 Jetta and the hot cloth didn't do any thing to the glue under the Jetta badge. I had to use "Goo Gone" and scrape it with my fingernails layer after layer. But was able to get it all off eventually. The fishing line did take the badge off pretty easily though.
o you shouldnt have done it with your finger nail that can scratch your paint leave little scuff marks. i used hot water and worked it in worked for me. maybe its because you have an older car so the glue hardened.
damn this is a pretty good video!!!! i did this to my jetta as well it worked perfectly=D thanks for the type. lol he farted. but finally there is a good video of how to do it. n u dont needa use alot of shit either. thanks again hopefully you keep us posted with more videos!
