how much i adored sean bean as odysseus when i was still 13 back then :33 damn! when i watched the movie tday i asked myself where are those last 7 years??? O.o am i really that old now? :DDD
@SorceressDamia Lawerence of Arabia, perhaps it's the mode that you are hearing that reminds you of something you have heard? I hear an Eastern motiff. It's pretty isn't.
Please compare the opening of this clip to part of 'Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis', which was composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams in the early 20th Century. Sound similar? Not a direct copy, but pretty close. The 'Tallis' piece was actually quoted directly in Master and Commander.
@CambotSOL Hi, I just went to the Fantasia and took a good listen, wow... yeah i'd say that's pretty darn close sounding. I wasn't familiar with the Vaughan Williams piece at all. I really love this music. John Wiliiam's is a classic example of a person who has taken bits and pieces from all of the great composers! I guess James Horner shouldn't be any different.
Thank you SO much for posting - I love this song, it gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Unfortunately, in order to buy it on iTunes you have to buy the entire album, and I'm not really interested in that. But this allows me to hear what I like without having to worry about buying all the songs. THANK YOU.
In no particular order: Troy, Gladiator, Braveheart
