Don't be so harsh TonySpargo. I agree on alot, but do not blame the promoters all of the way. The fans want to see these matches & that is what sells tickets. Andre would have been unbeatable & Monsoon would have destroyed Carlos.
Wrestling is fake and we all understand that. My issue is why make it look so darn obvious! Andre was half dead most his career so I really never did expect him to win. Giant Gonzalez was nothing more than a string bean and you could of beat him. Nash and Big Show, only a couple of actors doing their job. Yes, when it is acting, anyone could win. When it is for real, I would always bet on the monster, unless he was like Andre the Drunk. Hogan was nothing as well.
I understand your point so let's move to the main factor here, if you were a Ric Flair in the 80's and made a visit to WCCW you would most likely end up losing to any of the Von Erichs, same applies to PR, if you came here in the 70's or 80's you would most likely end losing to Colón regardless of who you were, all territories had a local hero and he was unbeatable.
I would be ashamed to travel to Puerto Rico to wrestle some little pimp-sqeek who probably weighs 150 pounds soaking wet and I stood 6'5" and weighed over 300 pounds. What a farce. I guess they must pay the American wrestlers a lot of cash to look foolish.
Carlos Colón weighed 246 lbs and was 5'10", if height and weight were a factor in Wrestling Andre would have never lost to Hogan and Giant González, Nash and the Big Show would be undefeated.
This Place Is Going Bananas!
