Ummm, do I see a very unusual about this 1994 RTS bus? What I mean is the side rear vent is usually on the other side (passenger side), not the driver side.
@QueensBuses Thanks for respond, I appreciate it, I guess it wasn't a big of a deal because Mostly TMC RTSes in America only except NYCT had vents both sides.
As a City Bus Driver myself, I have to say that all TMCs are Bus Drivers worst nightmare. They have those tiny little mirrors and tiny little windows so they are very unsafe, they have the WORST turning radius, Plus they are way underpowered so takeoffs are painfully slow. And to top it off, they are very unreliable and overheat a lot. On the other hand, if u want a Reliable hotrod for a bus, look into the NewFlyers. :)
It isn't at all clear what you mean by TMC, since Nova RTS's wear the TMC emblem frequently. TMC's and other RTS's have a standard or better turn radius, nor are there any overheating, reliability, mirror, saftey or windshield size issues. That praise of NF's is also baseless. TMC's.. underpowered? -your brain is underpowered, apparently. You aren't a bus driver but for the minuscule possibility you are, you're the issue, not the bus.
@AdmiralArcher Im sorry for the really really late response lol but
TMC= Transportation Manufacturing Corporation which bought the design of the RTS from GMC (General Motors) in 1987 I think. They're two different companies neither produce the RTS anymore
Dec, 5, about 10:00 AM, I see a pre-fishbowl GMC bus colored yellowish and green being persued by an MTA security vehicle, emergency lights flashing. This was by Francis Lewis HS on H. Harding, west.
That was 3100, with the huge fans in the back right? It's stored at QV and it's part of this years vintage fleet on routes like the M42, M50, Q32, and some others in Manhattan until January 2
I didn't notice the fans, strangely; I just saw two windows at the back. It was a GMC 'Old Look'. It was some distance away, plus the security vehicle distraced me, so I overlooed the huge fans probably.
BTW, I've been seeing some strange stuff you might have an explanation for.
1)Dec, 3, early evening, on horace harding 188th, an RTS bus with a "B46 Kings Via Utica" destination sign comes by, turns south @ 188. ID was 4141. Later that night at KISSENA and H. Harding, I spot another RTS with the same B46 via UTICA, going east. ID wasn't attained. I figured it had something to do with the tradegy in Brookyln, but I don't know why they were in north easterly Queens.

@qwandiddy On the private lines RTS that vent was on both sides, the NYCT 1994 TMCs only had it on one side with the exception of 8565 and 8566.

It's for the bus operator stabbed, a lot of B/Os are doing it all around the city.

Beautiful ignition and idle sounds.
That 1994 TMC with it openable rear window, dual air louves on either side and two circles around the rear brake lamp is a design I'll miss too.
Excellent vid. Images are very crisp!
