  • Pretty video :)

  • thank you - beautiful places make it easy :)

  • I liked the snail and the fat bee, but the cinematography, especially at the aqueduct, was really fabulous! You have such an eye for composition, I'm humbled...

  • The subjects make it easy - how can you go wrong with nature and Romans? :) thank you

  • Splendid! Love the video, love the music! going to browse your other vids now...Anyeong!

  • thank you for that! ciao!

    Lesley :)

  • I love heart-shaped rocks :-)

  • me too! ♥

  • Ever get a cramp ? Man it hurts

  • too much typing? LOL

  • "I pretty much abhor all violence in sports and tune it out. Unless it's boxing!!"

    Is 'abhor' italian ? lol

Be interesting to know if he lost his money on Britsh or Irish horses..

Wouldn't be surprised if he lost it all in Redcar lol

  • oops.. I forgot the Inter hooligans :)

  • oh yea, right ;) (like I know!! hahah)

  • Really ?Well I do know The Serie A well (did I spell it right ?)and your ex probably does as well if he's very fond of the betting part lol.

There seems to be a lot of violence in italian football these days especially at Catania and Palermo home games.......

  • well my ex bet on american football and horses, so i doubt he knows anything about Italian football...

I pretty much abhor all violence in sports and tune it out. Unless it's boxing!!

  • I thought the renaissance might have made it nice.

  • 94 % humidity,thunderstorms.nice......

  • September should be nice (fingers crossed)

  • No next month.Very romantic ? Interesting lol

Supposedly ice hockey is a big thing over there.

Anyway we had terrible difficulty in getting a flight into anywhere near Milan.Pity.

  • Ice hockey?? hmmm here in Italy there exists no official sport other than football!! lol

Prague is better than Milan trust me!

  • lol The AC Milan hooligans won't tell you that.I thought rugby was half-big after being put on the front page of a newspaper that was usually all-football.Italy won two games in a row (club record).

  • You know way more than me about Italian sports!! haha

  • Actually it turns out we're now going to Prague on the 22nd.Hopefully no rain there (fingers crossed)

  • Now Prague I'm told is wonderful, rain or shine....very romantic from what I've heard...sadly another place I have never been (yet!) wait ...this week you're going ? have a great time!!

  • Christmas came early!

You and Brian both have a knack for making me think a little more deeply than usual through your videos. Thank you for that.

    :-)

By the way, you *are* an artist. No arguing with this, ya hear?!

  • OK, I wanted to suprise you when you got back. Now you do realise that our friend Brian has put up 6 videos to my one - his creativity flows while mine gurgles. But I did have fun trying to make a coherent video out of a lot of pieces of dark rain-soaked windows!

    ok ok!! :D

  • Maybe if he bets on every Dettori horse he might win...

  • haha

  • Maybe if he bets every Dettori horse he might win lol

Bad news : The trip to Holland is off because of the Ijssel overflowing,no tulips and short days in October.

Good news : We've decided to go to Milan instead because it's the only place that's not raining.

    P.S Where's the colosseum-like racecourse ?

  • too bad about Holland,

and too bad about milan! Starting to rain for weekend!!

don't know about a race track here!

  • Thought Frankie Dettori won a race there earlier this year...

I saw a picture of Milan Racecourse in the 'Racing Post'

so there must be.What do you think of Scandinavia then ?

  • hmmm I'll have to look into the Milano Race course..who knew?I have never been to Scandinavia! someday....

  • This was awesome Lesley!

  • thank you - the trip looks better than I remember it when it's edited into a sort of nature fest! hehehe

  • lol Tell him you'll never make as much money on Italian racing as you will on British racing and that he should take that up instead.I like horses too but not much betting - bad for the pockets :)

  • Do you like horses/horse racing ?

  • Well I can't say I'm an expert or anything, but I spent a lot of time with horses as a girl, and then have a family that is mad for the triple crown/thoroughbreds ....and an ex husband who loved (TOO MUCH!) the betting part! I also had a friend who was a great harness racer - so I guess I've be around horses and such in various ways in my life...

  • ummm do you have a barometer in your house ? the thing that measures atmospheric pressure and humidity ?

  • Well there is a simpler way to explain things..

Take an 'ea' word e.g. 'meat'

Put the 'e' at the end of the word e.g. mate.

Thats how to pronounce 'ea' words if you ever visit rural Ireland.Fortunately I live in a town :)

  • Ah, I'll keep that in mind when trying to reckon where someone hails from! :)

  • yes, says 17D and 8M and wind direction E?? doesn't help when I have no meteorlogical knowledge! haha

  • Yeah but who's going to have more rain overall this month ? (bet you €20)

You'll always know an Irish man in Italy if :

    a) They complain about the airport Ryanair flew them into

b)They complaint about the heat (prounounced 'hate' by irish rednecks)

    C) You see them applying factor 50 suncream liberally by the pool

  • hahahahaha

one can never be too careful about the sun! Especially when you're at the pool ....lying ...in the sun!!!!

    American rednecks prounced heat hayeeeeeet!

  • Thanks for the sun lol

  • We'll give you as much 'aqua vitae' as you want for any bit of sun.

Note: The Irsh people regularly contradict themselves when it comes to matters about the weather. They complain there's no sunny weather but when it gets sunny they complain it's too hot soo please don't send anything over 24 C !

  • OMG Just after I finished that last comment it has stopped raining :)

  • Hey - you're not going to believe this!!!

Thunder just cracked a minute ago and it's about to rain buckets!!

  • hahaha you're too funny. The Brits are the same way. When they come to visit here - mind you - in the Spring when it's relatively cool for us here- they complain about the heat!! hahaha

  • Quote :'In fact, we were surprised by the rain because it's been so dry all year - except when WE were there!'

That's what we call ' Murphy's law in Ireland which states what can go wrong, will go wrong'

e.g I was the dryest summer in 1400 years but it had to rain when you were there.

  • Forunately the river hasn't burst it's banks but it's started raining again :(

Make me happy by telling me it's sunny in Milano lol

  • Me too lol I'm going to Holland in September but only for 3 days :(

Was it raining a lot there ?

  • I was in the Alps on the Italian-Swiss border, and we weren't prepared for so much rain - and lots of snow. But after the heat and humidity of Milan it was a nice break to be in nature and cold!

I guess you've seen woodenshoesjeroen's attached video of the IJssel river overflowing from our Alps storm?

Enjoy your trip to Holland :)

  • Yup I've got a subscription to him.His videos are great.

You've had a lot of rain ? In Ireland we've had 49 consecutive days of rain and in the U.K they've had the wettest summer in 312 years......

  • Yep, I think I was Jeroen's first subscriber. Have you seen his horse video? aughh!

The weather is odd around the world...in the Alps where I filmed this video it's been the warmest year in 1400 years! In fact, we were surprised by the rain because it's been so dry all year - except when WE were there!

  • We haven't had much rain at all this year in Italy, and are in drought conditions. The jet stream has kept it all up there in the north where you are I'm afraid. We'll share some of our sun and heat with you if you can share some of the water please!!

    Lesley :)

  • I want to say something special, but I'm sure I'd only be repeating what everyone else has said. Lesley, your videos always leave me with a light heart, so the ending of Aqua Vitae fits my mood perfectly. Thank you.

  • Your comments are always special Betty - each one makes me smile. Thanks. Lesley :)

  • Were you on holidays then ?

  • a short break let's say :) I like my 'holidays' to be LONG!

  • You are a lucky lady getting to see all that. Your videos are always a delight to watch. Thanks for sharing this :)

  • Thank you very much - I am lucky to live so close to so many wonders...but I think we all do - it's all right there if we look close enough :)

  • Lovely.

  • thank you for watching :)

  • lovely video woman!! i'm so envious of your travels.

i responded with my vid.. because the way you laid out lil items.. made me think of something i made with the things around my apartment. not the same. but.. well. looking at the lil things is nice. yes.?

  • Thanks for your video response - I think we take for granted all those little things, whether nature-made or man-made.

I wish my travels were more frequent! (but then I wouldn't have time to edit!) :)

  • not only is this a gorgeous scenic vid but you did so many beautiful things, Lesley. The object/palm was great and loved the snail. Thank you for sharing these parts of your life. xo

  • Thanks so much Ann. The whole nature premise seemed appropriate simply because we couldn't escape it, but in the end we embraced it. The snail was magnificent I must say - he was very happy in the rain!

  • great vid~ I thought of something funny...I am from a town in Texas named Milano, but let me tell you it looks nothing like where you are at...hehe

  • Well, Milano is two hours away from where the video was taken- it sure doesn't look like the video either - trust me on that one! LOL

  • love watching it over and over again..beautiful..simply beautiful..

  • welcome back, make yourself at home!:)

  • you 're an artist, i told you again.had also the same question about your studies, but it's answered.. maybe your soul really needed the rain, so the mountain replied to it..anyway it said goodbye with this glorious sunshine, which is a true revival of all living creatures..so, as it seems from the excellent video, also, your connection with the nature is alive and well..the mountain godesses bless you, my friend, thank so much for sharing..

  • I think we all need a respite and calm from our working world, and no better place for repose than the tranquillity of the mountains or the sea - and Water, so vital for our bodies, is symbolic of truth that is vital for our minds.

Thank you for your beautiful words.

    Lesley :)

  • Beautifully done. The early part raised a question: are you familiar with the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi? If not, check it out.

  • I suppose I hold those aesthetics in esteem because I studied interior design and feng shui for years (plus I collected Japanese pottery for a period there as well) : the idea of the coexistenece of simplicity, imperfection and impermanance in nature as well as man-made things.

Hadn't thought about that in regards to my video but you're a man of many talents- including one for pointing out that my education paid off in some way! thanks!

  • You do a wonderful job of giving us a sense of the country. The music makes me feel like I'm watching an old Italian B movie.

  • Thank you- you know, I have so much footage of beautiful places and architecture and vistas from various parts of Italy and it's so hard to 'capture' the essence and richness of it - so I end up not uploading all that stuff and just little bits and pieces because I feel I just can't do it justice.

The music at the end wasn't my idea I'm afraid ... I conferred with my music director brianrangeley!

  • Okay...that was visually stunning in every sense of the word! I love how you started out with the rain and ended with the sun! All the little objects in the palm of your hand! Incredlbie. And i almost got the fear of heights from a few parts of this video! LOL Beautiful leslie, just beautiful! Curt and I talked about you in Chicago and we both agreed that YOU ARE AN ARTIST!!!!

  • Thanks Gary - i just love your comments because you have such an eye for detail, as I've told you before, and I like to put a lot of little details in my vids.

I wish I could have been there in Chicago with you guys - not to hear compliments but to give you big huggies!! mwuah! xxx

  • Beautiful. Love the rain. Love the snail. Looks like we have similar taste in travels.

  • I actually like the rain too, not 'during' so much - but after the rain when everything is fresh and clean and nature comes alive.

  • please send some of that rain this way to west Tn. lol

    nice video :)

  • Will do...as soon as it moves outta here! :) thanks

  • And I promise...at christmas time each of U will get to cop a feel of Johnnnys muscular buttocks..but thats all. :)

  • Please dont laugh, after I AND the posse have finished with you, you wont have any arse left!!

  • Stopm it Odds...you're getting me aroused! :)

  • Oh good easyer to use the grater then!

  • oooh badabing!

  • LMAO!

  • Yes my faithfull assistant, we shall prevail and teach another dim witted boy the ways of pain and respect! :¬D

  • Just as long as you know I aint touching him! LOL!

  • That is what the burning tongs are for! :¬D

  • ahh, always so well prepared! I bow down to you!

Noticed how this Ringo boy keeps squeeling to be noticed on Lesleys videos lately? Maybe someone should call his nursemaid and tell her he's wanting attention ?

  • LMAO, he does need a time out dont he! :¬D

  • Christmas is off.

  • No Christmas? But I already got you a new axe to chop the wood and a good but used washboard to wash with down at the creek! No more poundin on rocks honey!

  • Well you're finally on topic for this video JR! Water! Nature! but to hell with that warshin'!

  • OH ....Ummmm...sorry. Water, nature, water , nature, torture, cheese grater, water, nature, cajones on a nail, water nature :)

  • now you're getting the picture. Don't forget the salt.

  • Salt? Are you gonna kill me or eat me?

  • and lemon

  • mmm I can already feel the pain! :¬D

  • And even though most of you are much older than me and long in the tooth, you are still good for washin , cleanin, fetchin and such. I figure that if I can like a horse...I can surley see past the short comings of timeless age and poor hygiene you poor waifs have had to go thru :)

  • You need your eyes testin...now where is my ice cream scoop? ;¬D

  • hahaha

  • Beautiful video.

Our hands are so precious aren't they. If we had no eyes, we could tell so much about things around us simply by using our hands: the feel of the cold rounded pebble, the frailness of the flower, the cool splash of water, the repulsiveness of the snail!

With you as our guide Lesley, we get to see and feel the true beauty of a place.

Shame you only got the sunshine as you were leaving, but you enjoyed it nevertheless.

Good job that snail was not in my garden though ;¬)

  • Thanks for that lovely comment Frank. I love to touch nature, be part of it. I also love to feel the connection with the stones that were lathed and turned centuries ago, You'll see in most of my videos me touching the surfaces of these things- have done that since I was a girl.

Have not had the stomach to touch a snail, although I found this one quite happily and beautifully making it's way over to a yummy garden on the side of the road. I warned her about you ;)

  • Dang...you all swarm out like camptown girls on a saturday night! LOL. Johnnnyringgo ain't afrqaid of no tall talkin frilly lil girls. Ya'll can't even write your own names in the snow :)

  • well we sure as heck ain't girls couts JohnnnnnyRingggo - but we do make a mean girl posse- 'specially with a bunch of fellers backin' us up!

  • LesaMilano...I think its time that you just admit that U are deeply in love with Johnnny. So are all the other fillys with you. I know its U all that are sending me lipstick kissed envelopes with under garments in them :) I love ya'll too. Lets all move in together and if all of U get jobs...I will live well :) XXOO

  • I have ordered you the thorazine drip now. There there. It'll be ok. The hallucinations will come and go, but the posse will never leave your nightmares. :)

  • I prefer self medication darlin. You know this. I love you all with all my heart. Your eyes are like cupcakes floating in sour cream. I loce all of thee..more than my horse...well almost. :)

  • You tell im sister! he been at that wacky backy again! :¬D

  • *sigh* oh lesa, thanks so much for sharing this wonderful place! it looks amazing, yes I would love to be there, even in the rain... :¬D I love the music as well, truly a great acompanyment. :¬D and all those wonderful things you found on your travels...

  • Thank you kind lady - I don't regret the rain either - however I regret not packing proper rain gear (and SNOW)) which left me unable to really stay out in the elements - but the time I did have with all that nature and fresh air was well enjoyed. :)

  • It was a little claustrophobic inside those walls, and I'm REALLY scared of heights! But it was still beautiful. Ahh, that was perfect honeymoon weather! Shame you didn't get to enjoy a couple of nice days at least, but that's what you get for complaining about the muggy heat in Milan ;) lol!

  • it's strange, inside it's so quiet (well, the walls are two metres thick!) that you wouldn't guess there was this torrent down below and it's so solid you think you're in a stury building...being on top is certainly a rush - especially looking down!!

Well the good news about the weather is that we bought new warm pyjamas while we were there - will come in handy this fall! haha

  • Seems like Italian snails moves just as slow and gracefully as their British cousins.. Can't wait to see more!! Oh, the nature was great too.. Rob :)

  • They do go at about the same leisurely pace but there's s sense of style that the Italians have over the Brits.

haha - am working on a sequel ;)

  • Well, I just loved that snail.. (I bought a garden ornament in Yarmouth, it's a bunch of snails holding a sign that says 'Welcome!'.. I like snails, me.. they have the right approach to life in general, and stress in particular!! :D

  • I agree. I sort of likened the snail's passing along my trail as a sign to slow down, so I did - and stopped in a trattoria for a nice lunch at the end of the road :)

  • I enjoyed that Lesley. I love history..especially Roman and Greek history. With all that aside...I still plan on bushwhackin U and your legion very soon :)I'm plannin on takin scalps and doin some serious horse molestin :)

  • no chance mate, now we have Roman Tactics on our side too, there's no beating the organisation skills of the Romans! :P There's you, and there's US, get ready to pay your taxes Boyo!

  • Good..bring a sword to a gunfight! I'll take those odds :) Now who ar YOU? Antoher LesaMilano recruit? Ya'll still need to go back and get more to make it a fair fight :) Wish a woman would take my side for once...I is handsome :)

  • You may have met my mentor, oddswebb, already. We pretty much grew up together and she's taught me everything she knows about the art of torture, and yes, I DO prefer swords to guns, but you wont even know I'm there until it's too late ;)

Not that I condone violence, I'll just have you tied up and ready for the girls to play with before you know what hit you :)

  • This all stems from these women being shuned by me worith their advances. They always want to tie me up and have their way with me. But...I am a true "horseman". Torture? you mean like Lesamilano does with that riding crop thing?

  • hmm, was thinking more cheese graters and salt :D

  • and garlic presses and lemon juice for just the right touch

  • Oh you like that, did you? Will have to change it up a bit.

  • I christened Samsarajade.. Creaping Death as she is so quiet! :¬D

  • oooh...Scousing Tiger, Creeping Dragon :O

  • I recall a story about someone's cajones hanging in a barn from a rusty nail, but , like I said, just a story..or so they say.

  • She's one of the original officers in this army boyo, careful where you tread...she's got friends :O

  • Is he bein a pest again? I iz here if you need me :)

  • LizBiz...like that would do any good. I hate to tell you this swetty..but as near as I can tell..you're just cartoon character and a cartooon can't do nothin :)

  • you poor boy...you'll soon get a gigantic dose o reality from us: *the POWER OF ZE POSSE*

  • I believe that 'cartoon character' as you so put it - has got a better horse than you, so ya better watch it bucko!

  • got your *wink* and keepin' an eye on him...he's lifted his head and is lookin' around fromm him slitherin' spot in the grass ;)

  • Thanks JR - I have a thing for that history stuff too - but I draw the line at havin a thing fer my horse!

Did you check the pulse of yours btw?

  • Yes...there was no pulse. Don't know a horse when you are lonely out on the cold prairie and had a lil too much Wild Turkey..they can be down right confortin :) The Romans knew this too.

  • LOL, we are so gonna have fun with you little boy! My very own assistant will help with your pain and tamein! ;¬D

  • yeehaw!! Oddsweb's saddlin' up!!

  • OK odds...but its a lil creepy...an Irish girl who wears too much makeup :)

  • Now, no slagin the Irish! they wear enough to get by... an so do I :¬D At least this way you wont see me comin!! ;¬D

  • I am Irish myself darlin so no slaggin them. Thats why Johnnny is so good lookin :) me grandpappy came from the old country.

  • OH I SEE, *smirk* your a wanna be American Irish! :¬)

  • Just American thank you very much :) Ya'll have bland food over thar :) And the women wear spooky masks :)

  • So speaks a boy who aint never bin! :¬D Only I wear the masks, cos I am odd. :¬D

  • I think the Romans had more than horses for company ;)

  • Thats all I can get...as U can see...most women want to torture and kill me so mounting is out of the question for me.

  • But I did read in history that U were there lesley...keeping the legions company :) That was before my time :)

  • I believe the legions were at my feet, isn't that what they wrote about that 'incident'?

  • I think it was something about Harlots. Hey LesaMilano..what does the word Concubine mean? :)

  • Harlot's - isn't that a big store in Knightsbridge?

well you should know what a concubine is JR, were'n't you someone's beotch at that facility?

  • Hi Lesley,

Thanks for the beautiful video, and sharing your trip with us. Sorry about all the rain. What happened? Did the sun come out the day you were leaving? I'm looking forward to the next video of your trip. :)

Have a great day filled with smiles!

    (((Hugs))) to you...

    Paula

  • well hello Miss Paula! Yes the sun came out the very day we were leaving after days of pouring rain and even blizzard up in the higer Alps. A working on another video with some of the castles...stay tuned!

    Lesley xxooxx

  • How thoughtful of Mother Nature to rain a lot right where the Romans built an aquaduct! I think your travelogs rival PBS and are much more creative. They're almost lyrical. Thank you for posting!

  • Wasn't that thoughtful of M.N.? Thank you so much - now if I could just get a grant for further research for my travelogues ....lol :D

  • You know, I bet you could. Some foundation is probably offering something for that -- especially to women. How resilient is your begging bone? Have you ever written a grant proposal? You're not busy enough and really need some more to do, right? ;-D

  • Hmmm, I don't think I really have thought about my resiliency much but I have sat up and begged when appropriate and think I came out with some shard of remaining dignity! But the grant proposal writing sounds like a 'job' and I'm too busy traveling to do that!! aughh! :O

  • I would further bet that you are always everything you need to be everytime you need to be it and would never loose your dignity! I would go so far as to say you are made of dignity .... but then that would just be blatant flattery .... =)

  • um, I'm blushing and for once- at a loss for words! Let's play Stump the Lesley!! hahha

    xx thanks you doll!

  • OH, Lesley! You please us all here! I always try to imagine how it was hundreds of years ago...

Great shots, but pleeeeaazzzeee be careful...were you tryin to make everyone nervous????!!!!!

And let us know when your next trip is...we'll do a sun gods dance for ya!

    :D Thank you!

  • I am always humbled by that particular spot out there on that gorge knowing it was built more than 2000 years ago and still is so solid and sturdy that it feels like it was carved out of the gorged instead od built over it.

I told my husband next holiday - at the sea, but maybe I should just check the weather forecast before I decide!? lol

  • I simply LOVE your editing.

OMG..that part with the hands..so pretty! And the river .where you are on a bridge...that place is beautiful . I'm like " oHHHHH I want o go there"

BTW..did you find that heart shaped stone in there too?

  • Muchas gracias Brenda! That bridge was originally built 2,000 years ago over water to carry water - those crazy Romans!

    I find heart-shaped stones everywhere I go...I have quite a collection :)

  • *looking under the desk for stones*

NOPE, no stones in here... if I find one I'll let you know!

  • haha thanks girl!

  • Breathtaking!!! Fabulous video Lesley!

I'm in for a short then back out for more vacationing.

    Big hugs, Nancy

  • Oh hi Nancy- checking in for a moment? - well enjoy the rest of your holiday and see you soon!

    Lesley :)

  • Loved the video Lesley! The footage of the bee was especially good and the gorge was truly amazing. Bravo!!!

  • Thanks Blink - it's surprising what things you can find when you venture outside! It was partcularly fruitful animal and beastie filming during and between the rain storms.

  • Lesley! This was amaaaazing. Irrational fear, I know, but I had my heart in my throat as you held the camera out over the precipice. And I loved the big furry bee collecting pollen. Well, I loved it all - t'were as if you'd taken us along with you - and look forward to the next installment! Hugs, Nathan x

  • I had the same fear...trust me --not irrational at all...it's such a trip up there - especially when you can feel and hear the power of that river down below.

I'm glad it were pleasin' as it wereth to have you twith. xx Les

  • LOL - no, darling. I wasn't irrational when you were stood at the top of the aquaduct .. but it's definitely irrational when you're sat at your kitchen table. :-D

  • hahaha you may have a point there LOL :D

  • Hey, Its not December, you pulled a fast oneon us posting this so quickly. Looks like a beautiful area, I don't know what the area was originally like, but it seems to have a nuturing spirit now. Lucky You.

  • I was waiting for someone to catch me being so quick on the upload! haha

You know, there are dozens of castles up on cliffs and every high precipice throughout the valley and I always think back to how it was with the knights and feuds and how beautiful the landscape was those 6 hundred years ago....

  • And this is why you are my absolute favorite. I love to touch history and imagine the people that have done these things so many times before.

     Amazing views!!

  • Hey Steffers...right back at you. Always wondering what genious thing you're hatching ...

this place is incredible for history and beauty...so much!

  • SLOWLY I learn, but I really see the potential in Vegas.
